02:51Domination, oppression, and slavery, we were treated less than dogs in our own homeland.
03:02We Indonesians know what it means to be denied justice, and what it means to live in apartheid, to live in poverty, and to be denied equal opportunity.
03:14We also knew what solidarity can do. In our struggle for independence, in our fight to overcome hunger, disease, and poverty, the United Nations stood with Indonesia and gave us vital assistance.
03:35Decisions made here, based on human solidarity by the Security Council and this Assembly, gave Indonesia independence, international legitimacy, opened doors, and supported our early development through the efforts of the United Nations Children's Fund,
03:58the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the FAO, the World Health Organization, and many, many other United Nations institutions.
04:10And because of that, Indonesia today stands on the cusp of shared prosperity and greater equality and dignity.
04:21Madam President, Excellencies, our world today is driven by conflict, injustice, and deepening uncertainty.
04:32Every day we witness suffering, genocide, and blatant disregard for international law and human decency.
04:42In the face of these challenges, we must not give up.
04:46As the United Nations Secretary General said, we cannot give up.
04:53We cannot surrender our hopes or our ideals.
04:56We must draw closer, not drift apart.
05:01Together we must strive to achieve our hopes, our dreams.
05:07The United Nations was born from the ashes of the Second World War that claimed scores of millions of lives.
05:15It was created to secure peace, security, justice, and freedom for all.
05:24We remain committed to internationalism, to multilateralism, and to every effort that strengthens this great institution.
05:37Today, Indonesia is nearer than ever before to meeting the sustainable development goals of ending extreme poverty and hunger.
05:50Because years ago, this very chamber chose to listen and uphold social and economic justice.
06:00We will never forget.
06:02And today, we must never be silent while Palestinians are denied that same justice and legitimacy in this very hall.
06:18Excellencies, Tukidides warned.
06:25The strong do what they can.
06:30The weak suffer what they must.
06:33We must reject this doctrine.
06:36The United Nations exists to reject this doctrine.
06:40We must stand for all, the strong and the weak.
06:48Might cannot be right.
06:52Right must be right.
06:57Indonesia today is one of the largest contributors to United Peacekeeping Forces.
07:06We believe in the United Nations.
07:10We will continue to serve where peace needs guardians.
07:16Not with just words, but with boots on the ground.
07:21If and when the United Nations, Security Council, and this great assembly decide,
07:31Indonesia is prepared to deploy 20,000 or even more of our sons and daughters
07:40to help secure peace in Gaza or elsewhere.
07:47In Ukraine, in Sudan, in Libya, everywhere when peace needs to be enforced, peace needs to be guarded,
08:04we are ready.
08:07We will take our share of the burden.
08:09Not only with our sons and daughters,
08:13we are also willing to contribute financially to support the great mission to achieve peace by the United Nations.
08:28Madam President, Excellencies,
08:30I propose to this assembly a message of hope and optimism grounded in action and execution.
08:42Today, we heard the speech of Madam President, the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
08:51Yes, it is true what she said.
08:55Without the International Civil Aviation Organization,
09:02will we be here today?
09:04Will we sit in this great hall?
09:07Without the United Nations, we cannot be safe.
09:11No country can feel secure.
09:13We need the United Nations,
09:15and Indonesia will continue to support the United Nations.
09:20Even though we still struggle,
09:24but we know the world needs a strong United Nations.
09:30The world's population is growing.
09:34Our planet is under strain.
09:37Food, energy, and water insecurity haunt many nations.
09:41We choose to answer these challenges directly,
09:45at home, and to help abroad, wherever we can.
09:50This year, Indonesia recorded the highest rice production and grain reserves in our history.
10:00We are now self-sufficient in rice,
10:05and we are starting now to export rice to other nations in need,
10:12including providing rice for Palestine.
10:16We are building resilient food supply chains,
10:22strengthening farmer productivity,
10:24investing in climate-smart agriculture,
10:27to ensure food security for our children and for the children of the world.
10:34We are confident in a few years' time Indonesia will be the granary of the world.
10:42As the world's largest island state,
10:47we testify before you that we are already experiencing the direct consequences of climate change,
10:58The sea level on the north coast of our capital city is increasing by 5 centimeters every year.
11:14Can you imagine in 10 years?
11:18Can you imagine in 20 years?
11:20For this, we are forced to build a giant seawall, 480 kilometers in length.
11:31It will take us maybe 20 years, but we have no choice.
11:35We have to start now.
11:37Therefore, we choose to confront climate change, not by slogans, but by immediate steps.
11:46We are committed to meeting our 2015 Paris Agreement obligations.
11:54We aim to achieve net zero emission by 2060,
12:00and we are very confident we can achieve net zero emission much earlier.
12:07We aim to reforest more than 12 million hectares of degraded forest,
12:12to reduce forest degradation,
12:16to empower local communities with quality green jobs for the future.
12:22Indonesia is shifting decisively from fossil fuel-based development towards renewable-based development.
12:33From next year, most of our additional power generation capacity will come from renewables.
12:40Our goal is clear, to lift all of our citizens out of poverty
12:46and make Indonesia a hub for solutions to food, energy, and water security.
12:52Madam President, Excellencies, we live in a time when hatred and violence can seem to be the loudest voices.
13:02But beneath this loud noise lies a quieter truth that every person longs to be safe,
13:12to be respected, to be loved, and to leave a better world to their children.
13:20Our children are watching.
13:25They are learning leadership, not from textbook, but from our choices.
13:31Today, still, a catastrophic situation in Gaza is unfolding before our eyes.
13:42At this very moment, the innocent are crying for help, are crying to be saved.
13:52Who will save them?
13:54Who will save the innocent?
13:57Who will save the old and women?
14:03Millions are facing danger at this very moment.
14:07As we sit here, they are facing trauma.
14:10They are facing irreparable damage to their bodies.
14:15They are dying of starvation.
14:19Can we remain silent?
14:22Will there be no answer to their screams?
14:27Will we teach them that the human family can rise to the challenge?
14:35Madam President, we must act now.
14:41Many speakers have said that.
14:43We must stand for a multilateral order where peace, prosperity, and progress are not the privilege of a few, but the right of all.
14:55With a strong United Nations, we can build a world where the weak do not suffer what they must,
15:03but live the justice that they deserve.
15:06Let us continue humanity's great journey of ideals, the selfless aspirations that created the United Nations.
15:14Let us use science to uplift, not use science to destroy.
15:21Let rising nations help others to lift themselves.
15:26I am convinced that the leaders of the great world civilizations, civilizations of the west, of the east, of the north, of the south, leaders of America, Europe, of India, China, the Islamic world, the whole world,
15:53I am convinced they will rise to their role demanded by history.
16:01We are all hopeful that the leaders of the world will show great statesmanship, great wisdom, restraint, humility, overcome hate, overcome suspicion.
16:15Madam President, distinguished delegates, we are greatly heartened by the events of the last few days where significant leading countries of the world have chosen to side with history,
16:34to choose the right side of history, the path of the moral high ground, the path of rectitude, the path of justice, the path of humanity,
16:48to shun hatred, to overcome suspicion, and to avoid the use of violence.
16:59The use of violence will beget violence.
17:02No one country can bully the whole community of the human family.
17:11We may be weak individually, but the sense of oppression, the sense of injustice has proven in the history of mankind that this sense of injustice,
17:34this sense of oppression will unite into a strong force that will overcome this oppression, that will overcome this injustice.
17:47To close, I would like to reiterate again Indonesia's complete support for the two-state solution in Palestine.
18:01We must have an independent Palestine, but we must also recognize, we must also respect, and we must also guarantee the safety and security of Israel.
18:18Only then we can have real peace, real peace, and no longer hate, and no longer suspicion.
18:28The only solution is this two-state solution.
18:33Two descendants of Abraham must live in reconciliation, peace, and harmony.
18:43Arabs, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, all religions, we must live as one human family.
18:56I think Indonesia is committed to being part of making this vision a reality.
19:01Is this a dream? Maybe.
19:05But this is the beautiful dream that we must work together towards.
19:11Let us work towards this noble goal.
19:14Let us continue humanity's journey of hope.
19:17A journey started by our forefathers.
19:22A journey that we must complete.
19:26Thank you.
19:27Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
19:30Shalom.
19:31Om santi santi santi om.
19:44Namo buddhaya.
19:45Thank you very much.
19:46May God bless us all.
19:49May peace be upon us.
19:52Thank you very much.
19:53Thank you.
19:57On behalf of the assembly, I wish to thank the president of the Republic of Indonesia.
