Bain & Co. said AI companies will require $2 trillion in annual revenue by 2030 to support the computing power needed to meet demand, according to Bloomberg. The consultancy predicted revenues will fall $800 billion short as monetization efforts lag infrastructure spending. Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta are expected to push combined AI spending above $500 billion annually early next decade, while OpenAI, still losing billions, targets positive cash flow by 2029. Bain also forecast global incremental AI computing needs could reach 200 gigawatts by 2030, with half in the U.S., straining supply chains and energy capacity. Bain sees quantum computing unlocking $250 billion in market value over time and notes early investment in humanoid robots and autonomous AI agents as potential long-term growth drivers.
