Taiwan's foreign ministry has thanked the US, Japan and South Korea for a joint statement after their top diplomats met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The three countries' top diplomats reaffirmed the need for stability in the Taiwan Strait.

00:16increasingly frequent destabilizing actions around Taiwan, as well as their opposition to
00:22any attempts to change the status quo, referring to Taiwan's current political situation.
00:26The statement also opposes what it calls unlawful maritime claims and destabilizing actions in the
00:33South China Sea. It did not name China directly. Taiwan's Foreign Ministry welcomed the statement.
00:39It said the country will continue to work with like-minded partners to ensure peace
00:43and stability in the region.
