00:00Nine years ago, the Earth gets invaded by alien species.
00:03Humans have no chance, and Congress and all other world governments have surrendered unconditionally.
00:09All military have been disarmed, and the aliens will be taking over Earth's government now.
00:13The aliens have walled part of cities around the world, and live underground consuming Earth's minerals.
00:18They don't go out of there unless there is a big event, like today's Unity Day.
00:23The anniversary of the day they concurred Earth.
00:25Since governments surrendered, most people of the world have accepted their fate.
00:30And now, and work for the aliens.
00:32But there are some that are resisting.
00:33Like Chicago's resistance group Phoenix, the Phoenix are a group of people determined to destroy the aliens and save the human race.
00:41After their last attack failed, it is taught that they have all been killed with their leader, Rafa.
00:46Today is the morning of unity.
00:47Say everyone is gathering in a stadium, and that the legislators, aliens, will be coming out to attend the event.
00:53Gabriel lives in the small poor neighborhood of Pilsen.
00:56Since the alien took over the difference between the rich and the poor, have grown even bigger.
01:01Those who work for the aliens directly are very rich, but the others like Gabriel have been neglected.
01:06Gabriel woke up early to meet up with a friend.
01:09They are planning to escape the city through a lake, since there is no way they can pass through the main city checkpoints.
01:15And also, they can't be able to hide from the roaches on the road.
01:18The roaches are drones of the aliens.
01:20That track everyone, every person in the city of Chicago, has been implanted with a chip just below their neck, so that the roaches can identify and track them.
01:29If the roaches identify you as a threat, you will be immediately arrested by the police.
01:33Gabriel meets up with his friend Jurgis, and they go to a garage where they are fixing a boat to escape the city.
01:39Jurgis also shows Gabriel a gun.
01:41He asks him where he got it.
01:43Guns are illegal for civilians, so if Jurgis gets caught, he would be in so much trouble.
01:48Gabriel tells him to hide the gun and leaves for work.
01:51William Mulligan is a police commander in Chicago.
01:53He is with a prostitute, but he couldn't do it since that is illegal too.
01:57She then gives him a present, and he leaves.
01:59William goes back to the station and meets with his partner.
02:02William is convinced that the Phoenix Resistance still exists, and that they might plan an attack today.
02:07His partner tells him he's just paranoid.
02:10William goes out to meet up with his informant.
02:12While on work, Gabriel is also looking for someone else.
02:15He has been asked to bring a handmade cigarette from a woman who works there.
02:18He got the job from one of the people from his neighborhood.
02:21He didn't question it since they promised to pay him good money.
02:23He gets the cigarette from the women and leaves work to meet the people.
02:26But just when he gets out of work, Commander William is waiting for him.
02:29He tells him to get into the car and asks Gabriel if he knows anything about the Phoenix.
02:34Gabriel tells him he's not a narc, snithj, and that he won't tell him anything, even if he knows.
02:38William knows Gabriel and his dead brother Rafa since they were kids.
02:41Their father was a close friend and his partner detective before he was also killed by the alien.
02:47William sees Gabriel's cigarette and warns him that he might die like his brother if he doesn't listen to him.
02:52He tells him he's trying to protect him from doing a stupid thing like his brother did.
02:56Gabriel leaves the car and goes to meet with the people to sell the cigarette.
02:59But once he gets there, they put a collar on him so that he can't get tracked by the drones
03:03and take him with a van to another place.
03:06When they arrive, the driver tells him if he wants to get paid, he should go to the house in front of them.
03:11Gabriel leaves the van and goes to the house.
03:13When he enters, he sees his supposed dead brother Rafa.
03:17He can't believe it.
03:18They hug and Gabriel asks Rafa how he is still alive.
03:21Rafa tells him when their last plan failed, he took out his tracking chip and went to a hideout.
03:26Gabriel asks him how it is possible to take the tracking chip out.
03:29Rafa tells him there are few people that can do the operation.
03:32After they catch up, Gabriel tells Rafa that he is planning to leave the city and that they should go together now.
03:38Rafa tells him that's a great idea, but that he won't be able to join him.
03:42He tells him the resistance group Phoenix is still in operation and that they plan to blow up the aliens today when they come out of their hiding.
03:49He tells him that the aliens have been cleaning out Earth's resources and as they don't stop them now, then every human will die.
03:56Rafa tells him to go out of the city immediately before trouble stars in the city.
04:00He gives him a roll of money and they hug goodbye.
04:03Gabriel runs to his apartment and tells his girlfriend that they have to go today.
04:07She tells him there is no way to escape the city.
04:10He tells her his idea to escape through the lake.
04:12He also tells her that his brother is alive and that he told him there will be trouble today.
04:17She tells him she doesn't want to leave the city and begs him to stay.
04:20Gabriel starts packing his bag to leave alone.
04:23While this is going on, William have bugged Gabriel apartment and hears everything.
04:27He is now sure that the Phoenix still exists.
04:30He sends the information to the commissioner and leaves to talk to Gabriel.
04:33When Gabriel goes out of his apartment, he sees William.
04:37He stars to run away through tight alleyways so William doesn't catch him.
04:41William stars following him with the drones.
04:43He tracks him to a parking lot.
04:45But Gabriel manages to escape William and goes to a hideout.
04:48The Phoenix resistance have figured out a way to get an invisible alien bomb and attach that to the mayor of Chicago.
04:54They plan to detonate it when the alien come out for unity day and meet with the mayor.
04:58The Phoenix members are consisted of different kind of people from all walks of life.
05:02They only communicate by a very complex code, but today they are meeting in person to accomplish the mission.
05:07Their leader called Number One won't be joining them today.
05:11Number One have organized all the information they need and also hired a person to alter their chip so that Y won't be tracked by the drones.
05:19The team including Rafa goes to the stadium where the celebration is happening.
05:22They all hold their position and wait until the mayor gets close enough to the aliens.
05:26The ceremony starts and the unity song is on.
05:29The mayor gets the call that the aliens are ready to meet him.
05:32He goes to meet them, then boom the explosion goes off.
05:35The stadium erupts into chaos.
05:37The team disperse and try to go run away from the stadium, even though the bomb went on.
05:41It didn't quite reach the aliens.
05:43The aliens seize this an act of war and summon the commissioner.
05:47They tell them if they don't find the Phoenix members fast, that the city will be destroyed and everyone will die.
05:52The alien give them their hunters to help the police catch the Phoenix members.
05:57William is on the case and goes to the stadium Rafa and his team and trying to blend in with other people using their new identity.
06:03But William gets there.
06:05He recognizes Rafa and arrests him.
06:07The city is under martial law and the special forces come in and find Gabriel from his hiding.
06:12William is investigating Gabriel and asks him to help him get the leader and the team of Phoenix.
06:17Gabriel refuses to help him.
06:19William then takes Gabriel to another room and shows him Rafa being tortured foe information.
06:24He tells him that if he help him, that his brother won't be killed.
06:27When Rafa sees Gabriel, he tells him he's already a dead man and to not help the police.
06:31But Gabriel can't see his brother die and agrees to help William.
06:35William gives Gabriel a false information of the map of the closed state where the aliens live.
06:39He tells him to take this to the leader of the Phoenix so that the police could trap them.
06:43Gabriel agrees and takes the map to the Phoenix team.
06:46They are impressed and calls their leaders, number one.
06:49Number one agrees to meet Gabriel and he gets the address of the home.
06:53When he gets there, we found out number one is the prostitute lady that William usually goes to.
06:58Before she can talk to him, the police tracking Gabriel break in and kill her.
07:02William and his partner come to the home of the prostitute.
07:05They find a hidden room.
07:06When they open the room, they find a laptop with all information on the members of the Phoenix.
07:10The police were sent to get them, but all of the members have already killed themselves.
07:14William goes to the representative of the aliens and tells them that the Phoenix team have been neutralized.
07:20He also reveals that the only way that the Phoenix leader knew a lot of information about the aliens is because high-level officials used to go to her for sex and she got the information from them.
07:30He tells them that the commissioner is even compromised and shows them the record of him.
07:34The aliens reward William for his hard work and make him the commissioner.
07:38The commissioner has a privilege to meet with the aliens face to face, so this promotion is a high honor for William.
07:44The aliens have also called off the destruction of the city.
07:47William meets up with Gabriel and tells him his brother have been spared because of his cooperation.
07:53Gabriel tells him he has betrayed his brother's trust and ruined his plan.
07:57William takes a memory card from his phone and gives to Gabriel and tells him that maybe Rafa's plan was to fail.
08:03Gabriel opens the video on the memory card.
08:05It's a video of his own baby shower.
08:07He sees his mom and Day having lunch with William and his wife.
08:10He also sees the Phoenix members in the party, including the prostitute.
08:14William is now cleared to meet with the aliens.
08:17When he descends down the elevator, we see him being covered with the bomb of the aliens.
08:21William was always part of the Phoenix and that Rafa's plan has actually not failed.
08:26The movie ends, but in the credits, we see that the mission was successful and the closed site was successfully destroyed.
08:32This raises other people from around the world to join the resistance and a new war has began between humans and aliens.
