Mark Rober calls fame a tax he's willing to pay to get young people excited about science
Transcript
00:00Being famous, what's that like? Because you've come from being a NASA scientist to then suddenly
00:04becoming a YouTuber, becoming so famous. This is never something I wanted. In school, I never
00:09wanted to do the school play. Like, I don't let people even sing to me at my birthday party.
00:13The recognizability part is the part, like, that I don't love, but at the same time, it's such an
00:18easy way, especially for me, a lot of the folks that I take pictures with are, like, kids 20 years
00:23and younger. They're stoked about science because of what I've done, and it, like, makes their day
00:28or month or year, right? So it's, like, such a superpower and easy way to give them that
00:32moment. I just kind of keep that in mind. At the end of the day, I have this job, and I get to do
00:36this cool stuff because of the people, so it's just a tax you have to pay.
