00:06over his remarks on the ongoing Zahra Kairina Mahathir inquest.
00:11Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan gave the instruction after counsel Datuk Ram Singh made the application in the proceeding on Monday.
00:20He raised this issue over Shafi's remarks, allegedly made during a party dinner,
00:25before proceedings to listen to a child witness testimony commenced.
00:28It is learnt that Amir issued the notice to show cause for contempt of court after hearing a briefing from Ram.
00:36Earlier, the Attorney General's chambers said they took this matter seriously
00:41and would take strict action against anything that could disrupt the ongoing inquest.
00:47The AGC said that such remarks from Shafi had the potential to cause inaccurate perceptions among the public
00:53and affect the ongoing court proceedings.
00:55It is said that the AGC was analyzing every detail from the said speech
01:01while stressing that it would not hesitate to take action, according to the law,
01:05including to start a contempt of court proceeding once the analysis was complete.
