00:00One back, two tight ends, maybe looking to run it here.
00:04And a full house look with Ryman and McBride.
00:08Looking for McBride all around the perimeter, almost like an extension of the run game.
00:12As Jair Brown brings him down near the line to gain, it'll be third down and short.
00:18And when you play a fast-flow defense like this, you've got to create misdirection.
00:23Show the ball one way, boot the quarterback out the other.
00:26That's kind of the mentality they're attacking San Francisco with, using their speed against them.
00:33Extra offensive lineman is in for Arizona on third down and short.
00:44As they so often do, they'll lean on Connor.
00:47As often as San Francisco does, they lean on Fred Warner to make the play.
00:53Fourth down and short.
00:56Well, it's Fred Davis, downhill, stuffing runs.
01:02You know exactly what he's there to do in the middle of this defense.
01:06And credit Alfred Collins there.
01:08They know 95, the D-lineman, he's got a high ceiling, and he's been a real surprise for this defense.
01:14He missed all the OTAs with an injury.
01:16The first time they saw him was in training camp.
01:19But they said, hey, we might have got somebody here.
01:26Gilligan boots it.
01:27Sky Moore is going to let this one roll and at least try to stop it from getting further inside the 10.
01:32They'll step out shy of the 15-yard line.
01:34But Simifei Hoko forced him out.
01:37We're right back after this from State Farm.
01:39Both of these rushing attacks trying to get going.
01:50This is what we've seen so far today.
01:53Arizona averaging less than three yards of carry.
01:56San Francisco averaging negative yards of carry.
01:59Off the play-action fake.
02:04They'll give it to McCaffrey.
02:08McCaffrey able to turn it into positive yards on the pass play.
02:11He was able to get past Hakeem Davis Gaither before he was able to pick up seven yards.
02:17A tough sledding for these rushing attacks so far today.
02:22That takes us down to the two-minute warning in this first half.
02:25Low-scoring affairs.
02:27The defenses have shown their muscle in the first 28 minutes.
02:32First 28 minutes kind of lacking rhythm offensively.
02:36But these two-minute drives, both teams have all three 10-ups.
02:38This is a chance for San Francisco to get into a little bit of rhythm here.
02:43And they've got to go steal at least three points.
02:45Remember, they get the ball starting the third quarter.
02:47And that's an opportunity in two drives in a row to even out the number of plays on offense.
02:52They only have 15 compared to the Cardinals.
02:55You have 34.
02:57This is a good 16th play for San Francisco.
03:00It's a first down run for McCaffrey.
03:02They averaged just about three yards per carry in the first two games of the season.
03:07League average is about four and a half.
03:09So you see the ball control.
03:10Just seven minutes of offense in this first half for the Niners.
03:14But they have a chance to close that gap and get points at the end of this second quarter.
03:18And remember, this is a two-minute situation where you have all three timeouts, but so does the opposing team.
03:24So it doesn't look as frantic, not quite as rushed up front for San Francisco.
03:28They're going to keep this slow and methodical thinking field goal no matter what.
03:32Good protection, but that ball is batted in the air by P.J. Mustapher.
03:43Second-year man out of Penn State just put another big paw up there and knocked it down.
03:48And Arizona was all over the quick game throw.
03:54And you see, as soon as Mustapher didn't get the rush he wanted, he knew to look for the football.
04:01Critical second down here for the Niners, I think.
04:04Most importantly, give me some positive yards.
04:06Give me to a third manageable as we encroach the midfield mark.
04:11Nothing wrong with screens either.
04:12It's been a heavy part of their offense in the early part of the year with McCaffrey in particular.
04:19Mack Jones steps up, finds McCaffrey, but he dropped it.
04:22That's two of them now for CMC, and it brings up third down and long.
04:27Block stops with 68 seconds in this first half.
04:31This is potentially setting up a drive for the Cardinals,
04:35who've been excellent in these end-of-half two-minute drills.
04:39So this is what San Francisco was trying to avoid.
04:42Playing it safe, playing it conservative, and missing some of the fundamentals.
04:47Just the throwing and catching.
04:49Got to get in safe.
04:50One of the better third down teams in the NFL last year is 0-3 so far today.
04:58Mack Jones looking for answers.
05:00Got a man over the middle.
05:01And out near midfield goes Pearsall.
05:04This second downfield catch of the day.
05:06Inside of a minute, Mack Jones trying to get everybody lined up.
05:09You see Mack Jones understands that some of those windows in zone, you've got to anticipate.
05:16And with the speed of Pearsall, you better hit him on the move.
05:20Glitz coming.
05:20Goes to the vacated spot for McCaffrey, who steps out to stop the clock for 42 seconds.
05:26Inside of the 45 of Arizona.
05:28Getting closer to the field goal range for Eddie Pinheiro.
05:41And with these stop clock situations, I know they're not a huge pressure team,
05:45but that's when defenses are a little more inclined to bring some pressure.
05:51Looks like only four.
05:51It is only four.
05:54So quick Jones out to Pearsall, and he extends for the first down.
05:59Clock continues to move, 35 seconds.
06:01Niners have all their timeouts, and they'll finally use one here.
06:07So we'll take the timeout with him.
06:11Little half-minute plus.
06:12Goal!
06:13Fresh set of downs for San Francisco from the plus 39-yard line.
06:23Still have two timeouts left.
06:25Brian Robinson, Jr. has checked in next to Purdy.
06:30Ready, keep set!
06:33Glitz coming from Arizona.
06:35Jones gets rid of it fast to the sideline for Pearsall, and it's incomplete.
06:38There was Keytrell Clark.
06:41Remember we told you Denzel Burst, the rookie, and the third-year man Clark
06:44were both going to be on that opposite corner of Max Melton.
06:48They're going to call a penalty with that flag down against San Francisco.
06:54Holding.
06:55Offense number 64.
06:58And your penalty.
06:59Jake Brendel is the center who got tagged with a holding penalty.
07:03We mentioned Burke and Keytrell Clark alternating every few series, two series for each guy.
07:11And you see, he's an excellent cover corner.
07:14You know, he's played in the slot and started as a rookie.
07:17This is a scrappy player, and they're getting the best out of both of them right now.
07:22That penalty takes him out of field goal range.
07:24So it's first and 20 from near midfield.
07:27On the slant, it is a pinballing catch by Bourne.
07:31Another one of those slants that he and Mac Jones feel comfortable with.
07:35Jones wants a timeout.
07:37And he'll get one with 26 seconds left as we check in with Kirk Menefee
07:41to see what's coming up on the Verizon halftime.
07:45Kirk, some wild finishes in the early window today.
07:50Including those Rams falling to the Eagles.
07:54A match with 2-0 teams.
07:57First loss for L.A.
07:58Philadelphia defending champs for 3-0.
08:03From here, it's about a 57-yard field goal into the wind.
08:08Only second down, so still chances to move up.
08:11For San Fran.
08:12With the timeout, this ball can go anywhere and play.
08:14Four-man twist.
08:20That gets picked up.
08:21I think Jones was expecting McCaffrey to be further downfield.
08:24Instead, he had cut to the inside.
08:26Big Calais Campbell made some contact with Mac Jones.
08:30Third down and nine.
08:35The free runner off the edge, Calais Campbell.
08:38It's the last thing you want to see.
08:4018th year.
08:41Six-foot-eight, Calais Campbell is coming in.
08:44It's like getting tackled by RoboCop, man.
08:46He's never got a sack on Mac Jones.
08:50Said 20-22.
08:52He's like, I almost had him, but he was slippery out in New England.
08:57Third down and nine.
09:02Another four-man rush.
09:04Underneath.
09:05And it will be McCaffrey down at the 33.
09:09So about a 51-yard field goal from here.
09:1216 seconds left.
09:14Maybe Arizona uses a timeout.
09:17Got to keep as much time on the clock as possible for a kickoff and anything else.
09:22Well, these new kickoffs, they are truly dynamic.
09:25And those could change the course of a game.
09:27So they're just trying to sure up their chances of getting a run back.
09:32Yep.
09:33So Zayvon Collins being helped off the field.
09:40Going to put four more seconds back on the clock.
09:4325 is Collins on the near side.
09:48Ooh, collision with Calais Campbell and Big Trent Williams.
09:51That's a lot of power between those two guys banging into Zayvon Collins.
09:58Michael McCorkle jump sandwich.
10:05Wow.
10:06It's tough.
10:10Eddie Pinero will get a chance from 51.
10:16The season long in his first two games.
10:19And he puts San Francisco in front.
10:21Plenty of distance on that one.
10:2217 seconds left.
10:32So Kyler Murray may get an opportunity at the end of this half.
10:35Still two timeouts as well for Arizona.
10:38It was fun to watch the NFC West perform the way it did the first couple of weeks.
10:42Three 2-0 teams.
10:44I thought Seattle comported itself well against Pittsburgh.
10:48We saw that game last week when the Seahawks got a win.
10:52The big differentials.
10:54Arizona had something to do with that.
10:55San Francisco as well.
10:57Rams had a lot to do with that.
11:00Seattle is up huge right now on New Orleans.
11:03They're putting it to the Saints as the Saints do not like their NFC West trip in the early
11:08part of the season.
11:09These are crucial September early in the season.
11:13Grind them out.
11:13Divisional type games that you got to win if you want to be in the race late.
11:17What did you say to both coaches?
11:19This is a chance to maybe stack some wins while you're dealing with some injuries, while
11:23you're dealing with a little bit of turnover, trying to figure some things out.
11:27Teams are a little sloppier in the first month of the year now that the preseason's been
11:31cut a little short.
11:31So this is a good opportunity to be able to stack a couple wins if you can.
11:35Grill survive in advanced mode.
11:37Playing a backup quarterback for San Francisco and then in the back end with the Cardinals.
11:42They're decimated by injuries.
11:44Greg Dorch looking for a big return and decent field position past the 35 before Jair Brown
11:50made the stop.
11:52So good return by Dorch.
11:54Murray's got two timeouts.
11:58See what they run on this first play.
12:00Maybe they want to try to get a chunk play or not.
12:04I understand both schools of thought here.
12:07If you want to just take a knee and say, hey, I don't want to put my quarterback at risk
12:10or we've got two timeouts in a decent spot.
12:14I think they're going to attack a little bit.
12:16They trust Kyler third year in this system to understand this situation, try and steal
12:21some points to break up the double up by San Francisco.
12:25Looking for a chunk play here.
12:27Murray's stepping up in the pocket.
12:28And this is what you fear.
12:30Bryce Huff comes from the backside and gets the sack and the flex.
12:35The end of the game in New Orleans last week with a sack.
12:38He ends the first half in Santa Clara with a sack today.
12:43The 6-3 49er lead.
12:46Field goals abound.
12:48The first half stats are brought to you by Wingstop.
12:53Both quarterbacks got things going a little bit as the half went on.
12:56Arizona dominated time of possession, but it's San Francisco that has the 6-3 advantage.
13:03Stay tuned.
13:04We'll have the Verizon halftime coming up right here.
13:07This quick commercial break.
13:08Divisional matchup between a couple of 2-0 teams in the early part of the season out west.
13:13That was today's game float is brought to us by Progressive.
13:38As we've got a 6-3 ball game, Mark Sanchez, Christina Pink in a moment as well.
13:43Not the most aesthetically pleasing offensive first half that we've ever seen, but I imagine
13:48there are a couple of things that both of these coaches and coordinators are locking in on for this second.
13:52A classic defensive battle, but for San Francisco, I mean, one for five on third down.
13:56That's why they only have run 24 plays.
13:59So they've got to continue to get opportunities.
14:02They're going to get it here coming out of halftime, and that offense still has to run through McCaffrey
14:08and then create some openings for other players and then for Arizona.
14:13I mean, we've got to find a way to get Marvin Harrison Jr. involved.
14:16I'm not saying abandon the run game, but number 18 needs to make his presence known.
14:21Last year's first-round pick, who had a good week one, was quieter in week two.
14:27Both offenses relatively quiet in the first half of week three.
14:37Ryland will get set to kick away.
14:42Moore and Morendo are back to return.
14:44He's going to make it to the end zone, so San Francisco will happily take the extra five yards.
14:59New touchback goals this year, so that goes out to the 35-yard line.
15:02Both teams have been generally avoiding touchbacks in the first couple of weeks.
15:08A couple of punts, a couple of field goals for San Francisco.
15:12Mack Jones, one of five backup quarterbacks, getting the start around the NFL.
15:17A little cleaner jersey this time, if you have that big hole and that big rip near the shoulder
15:22on the left side of that first step.
15:24Moore drove.
15:27Quick seamstress moves to fix up Mack Jones, who owns about 60 to 70 suits in his closet.
15:35A lot of that has to do with Nick Saban's requirement to wear suits
15:38when Alabama would enter an arena for a game.
15:42Here's Christian McCaffrey, and let's see if the run game can get going for San Francisco.
15:48But a flag is thrown on that opening play.
15:54Holding is the initial indication against the Niners.
15:56Offense number 75, 10-yard penalty from the spot of the foul, first down.
16:11So that's the name.
16:12That's Connor Colby, the rookie out of Iowa, who is stepping in for Ben Bartsch, who went to the IR.
16:17And then Colby had a groin injury this week that popped up on Thursday.
16:21He was locked up with Mack Wilson, and they called him for a hold.
16:25Just held on a little too long there.
16:27But the reason you pick up a guy like this, he's a great scheme fit in a lot of their zone runs.
16:34And they weren't expecting him to play this early.
16:37He was more of a draft-and-developed type player.
16:39But he's got thrust into the spotlight, and he can't hurt his team.
16:42They find McCaffrey on first and 16, and he gets right near the sticks as he bangs into Akeem Davis-Gaither.
16:51They'll give him the first down to the 46-yard line.
16:58I don't care what happens.
17:00You need to follow 23.
17:02And they just get outflanked on the outside.
17:08And that's one of those communication things when you're working in different players into your lineup.
17:13They've got to communicate where Christian McCaffrey's going.
17:17He's going nowhere on this one.
17:18The run stuff by Dalvin Tomlinson for no gain.
17:21Second down.
17:23And this has kind of been a choppiness for both offenses.
17:26Good play.
17:27Yeah, good play.
17:28No gain, yeah.
17:28A no gain, and now we're back in second and 10, and then we convert a first and 16.
17:33You know, it's just a strange rhythm and feel of these games.
17:39And when they're like that, these games feel like a marathon.
17:41But it's, you know, who can avoid the big mistake?
17:45Now it's Robinson in the backfield.
17:47Juszczyk is in motion.
17:50Jones, nothing.
17:53Chase, and gets rid of it smartly.
17:55Jordan Burch, rookie out of Oregon, their third-round pick, bringing some pressure that time for Arizona.
18:04It's third down.
18:05Well, you've got to applaud the coverage here for Denzel Burke, Keetra Clark.
18:11A lot of these guys stepping into different roles.
18:13Jalen Tomlinson, Buda Baker.
18:14I mean, there is nowhere to go on the edge in the pass game.
18:20That's exactly what Coach Gannon was talking about.
18:24Sticky coverage.
18:25And get them into third and long.
18:27He's cut.
18:29Extra body for Arizona on the rush.
18:31And a tight window toss is incomplete from Jones.
18:34Looking downfield for Kendrick Bourne.
18:40That is Jalen Thompson again.
18:43Working inside.
18:44He knows he's got help.
18:46Over the top.
18:47You see Taylor Demonson, a.k.a. the rabbit.
18:50But Thompson, that's exactly what they're expecting from him.
18:53And Matt Jones, a little more frustration in the pass game.
18:56He can't quite get into a flow.
19:00So now Dorch goes back to return.
19:02This feels like one of those games where special teams is going to have to be sharp.
19:09Dorch did not signal for the fair catch.
19:11He wants the return.
19:13And he'll get a little bit of additional yardage at some physical cost.
19:20Luke Gifford on the stop.
19:21The positional flexibility that Jalen Thompson gives you.
19:25Slotting to nickel today.
19:26Good play.
19:28Arizona goes to work on offense from its own 14-yard line.
19:33Kyler Murray, 14 of 20, but just 81 yards so far.
19:37Have not seen a lot of downfield shots in the first few weeks.
19:41Only had one in week one to Harrison.
19:42That's about it.
19:44Connor's been able to convert a couple of times, but not much per carry.
19:48McBride was involved early.
19:49Not as much as of late.
19:51Only two targets for Harrison and one catch.
19:55He's on the near side of the formation.
19:56But Kyler Murray's their leading rusher right now with 23 yards.
20:01It is Connor.
20:03Right on cue.
20:04A solid run on first down as he spins near the sticks.
20:08Renardo Green is on the stop.
20:10We're down to the field with Christina Pink.
20:11Well, let's start with the injury, guys.
20:13Nick Bosa has officially been rolled out.
20:15The good news is Michael Williams did return towards the end of the half.
20:18As for the Niners' offense, Kyle Shanahan said the Cardinals have done a great job hanging on to the ball.
20:23As far as his run game, he said we have to just get some more opportunities.
20:27Time of possession has been the name of the game.
20:29Well, Jonathan Gannon said, I'd love us to score some points, but we've been possessing the ball defensively.
20:33We've got to get a takeaway.
20:36Let's see if one of these teams ends up making one of those mistakes.
20:39Connor moving ahead, and that ball came out at the end of the play, but he was already rolled down by contact.
20:45Oh, he took a shot.
20:46And now the immediate run out to check on James Connor, and he was reaching towards that bottom half of the leg.
21:00Concern for Connor's teammates.
21:02To see James Connor need any type of physical help is jarring because we've always talked about this during the career of this excellent running back, ninth year out of Pittsburgh.
21:14He's one of the toughest players in the league.
21:16A pretty tough-to-watch right leg injury for James Connor.
21:21We'll step aside once more.
21:22James Connor was carted off the field.
21:29One look at it is the only time we'll show this to you.
21:31His right leg in a very vulnerable position when Jordan Elliott and Marquis Siegel combined for the tackle.
21:39That led to the injury.
21:41It is now up to Trey Benson and Imari Di Mercado.
21:44Di Mercado does not have an offensive touch this season so far.
21:48Benson had only carried it 11 times in the first two games.
21:52He's carried it four times for minimal yardage today.
21:56They're going to need these other backs to step in.
21:59They love the good vision and burst of Trey Benson, and he's also a threat in the passing game.
22:06Marie is going to take a shot.
22:08Open man, busted coverage, and Marvin Harrison dropped the ball with nobody around him.
22:14Perhaps the footsteps of Fred Warner impacted the attempted catch, but that's got to be in his hands.
22:21It's second down.
22:22Oh, this one he's going to want back, that's for sure.
22:26And right when they had the perfect protection, remember, Petsig talked to us about, we don't get a lot of downfield shots like this.
22:34We're still trying to hold up in protection, and when you do, you've got to pay it off.
22:39And just a little casual there at the catch point.
22:43Unfortunately, this cue.
22:46I still only have one completion of double-digit yards today.
22:51Just another week with nothing going downfield in the pass game.
22:54And now Benson gets knocked down by Upton Stout and Fred Warner.
22:58He stayed on his feet to try to push ahead for another yard or so.
23:03It'll be third down and long for Arizona.
23:04Well, the fans in San Francisco are going to get used to number 20 Upton Stout.
23:09That's how he plays.
23:11He's scrappy.
23:12He's one of those guys that the fans can rally around.
23:15He's short in stature, but he does not play small.
23:19He packs a punch.
23:20And did really well in the flat there on that last play.
23:35Blitz coming out of the zone.
23:37Look for San Francisco.
23:38Murray looking for a window, and he gets Zay Jones for their best passing play of the day.
23:43Out past the 40 to the 45.
23:4618-yard pickup to Zay Jones.
23:48And Renardo Green is slow to get up.
23:51Zay Jones is going to get Fred Warner completely turned around,
23:55thinking he's running down the field,
23:57and slam on the brakes and find the open zone.
24:00We mentioned open zones in zone coverage.
24:04You've got to threaten him with speed downfield,
24:06and then slam on the brakes.
24:08Make yourself available to the quarterback.
24:10And now we've got an injured 49er in the secondary.
24:13It's Green.
24:14They're tending to him.
24:18And again, all the motions for Arizona, they've used a lot of motion this year.
24:25Part of that is because they've got some continuity in their offense.
24:28Kyler Murray, as you said, it's year number three with Drew Petsig.
24:30So now, since we have a lot of the same players, now you have a lot of the same plays.
24:34Let's add elements to it.
24:36That time, the motion, you saw Renardo Green stay on the same side of the field.
24:40He didn't go to the opposite side, so that indicates zone,
24:43and Murray was able to find a window.
24:44Exactly right.
24:46In man-to-man, you've got to keep your eye on your luggage like the airport.
24:49In zone, you've got to attack space.
24:55Murray fires it, and some confusion between he and Harrison again.
24:59And then, second down.
25:05What is going on?
25:06We saw Green go out, but then they're going to attack Lucas there, the corner.
25:13And, clearly, the quarterback and receiver on different pages, but Luter on that play.
25:25It was clear they went after him.
25:28Tyler and Marvin Harrison, obviously off script there.
25:36Movement off the left side, as you saw, Winters bringing pressure.
25:40False start, offense from the 68, five-yard penalty, second down.
25:46That's two penalties on Beecham getting the start for the injured Paris Johnson today.
25:50That's the first Arizona penalty since the opening drive on Beecham.
25:56You can't have that as a veteran's swing tackle, a guy who's got to play in situations like this.
26:01You're expecting steady production, even on the road, even with the crowd getting back into this.
26:06Because of the way the feisty 49er defense is playing.
26:15Four-man rush underneath, inside, it's McBride.
26:19Nice catch and sprint to set up a makeable third down and short here.
26:25Picks up 12, getting McBride in the middle of the tackles there.
26:30Well, McBride's going to have to show block first, square him up, and then throw him by.
26:35Okay, just his blocks inside, and of course, big frohold out in front.
26:48Four grabs from McBride.
26:51He's usually the man on third down.
26:58Play clock down to two.
27:00Murray wants the snap.
27:01And a whistle.
27:06Timeout, Arizona.
27:08Player to the snap.
27:10Timeout, Arizona.
27:15Well, here's the confusion when you're talking about all these motions.
27:19The third year, you're trying to dress up these plays to keep the defense off balance.
27:23When you lose your starter at James Conner, and you have other players in that position,
27:30you might have to just get to the final formation and maybe try and use a little more tempo with a guy like Benson.
27:36What they're trying to do is play that chess match.
27:39How are you going to react to these guys moving around?
27:41Well, with other players in, you might want to keep it simple just to get the plays off.
27:48We asked for Petsig about Robert Sala, right?
27:50How different is it now than maybe the last time you saw him when he was in San Francisco
27:54or what you've seen when he was with the Jets?
27:56You see, there's a lot of variation in what the Niners do with all their young players, causing some confusion.
28:03Di Mercado is the back now.
28:05Harrison on the near side.
28:07There's the first touch of the season for Di Mercado.
28:10And the rookie, Williams, back on the field, gets the tackle for loss.
28:15This is what we used to see from Eric Armstead.
28:28We mentioned that.
28:29Closing down inside, playing inside, playing outside.
28:34And they're going to need some interior push again on this fourth down.
28:37Murray, towards the sticks, and a spinning catch by Michael Wilson for the first down.
28:55One of the rookie stouts.
29:00Wilson, the former Stanford Cardinal, back in the Bay Area, makes the play.
29:03Well, such a polished route runner, you see him on the return route.
29:09And a big enough body, good catch radius, but he's a tough runner after the catch.
29:16Alex Di Mercado running into Warner.
29:19Fred Warner, another run stuff.
29:23One of the best tacklers in the game, the quarterback of that Salah defense.
29:30Now Di Mercado out, Benson back.
29:33And an extra offensive lineman in there against San Francisco's defense.
29:42It's Josh Fryer, the rookie out of Ohio State, on the right side.
29:46Because of that big personnel, they put Difford in there.
29:49Extra linebacker now for San Francisco.
29:53There's Benson.
29:55Best run of the day for Arizona belongs to Trey Benson.
29:58And all the way down inside the 15.
30:03Got past the rookie, Siegel, and took off for the best play of the day on either side, 29 yards.
30:09Well, watch the double teams right here.
30:11Double teams on the edge.
30:12That puts an emphasis on the safety to go fill the space.
30:18And you've got to show up right there.
30:21You see how they're doing it.
30:22They're trying to get the run started.
30:23You lose James Conner.
30:25Okay, let's get exotic with motions.
30:27Now scrap that.
30:28Let's get big.
30:29Let's get in a phone booth.
30:30And let's play some bully ball and turn it into an alley fight.
30:33It's Dorch now with a little bit of motion and eye candy and window dressing and all those
30:43words you hear when it comes to offenses using motions and shifts.
30:47Dorch picks up four.
30:48No surprise.
30:49Again, Yelda Froholt on the edge.
30:53But that was, I do like that sequencing of plays, trying to figure out what's going to
30:57pay off for your offense.
30:59And sometimes you've got to move guys around and Dorch, obviously a veteran player.
31:03I mean, this poor guy, he runs 100 yards before the play even starts.
31:07He's got so much pre-snap motion.
31:09But those little wrinkles can keep a defense off balance.
31:20Murray.
31:22Incomplete.
31:22He's trying to find McBride.
31:24D-winters the linebacker in coverage.
31:26It was a matchup that he wanted.
31:28And Murray unable to connect.
31:30And that's where I think Trey McBride is going to elevate his game down near the red zone.
31:39And he's got to be a threat down in tight.
31:43They're expecting him to go up and make catches like that.
31:46He's looking for the penalty.
31:49But this is where your star has got to show up.
31:51McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr.
31:53On third down in the red zone.
31:56Harrison in motion.
31:57Murray dumps it off and a drop in space by Amari Di Mercado.
32:10And drops continue to hurt Arizona's offense.
32:14Drops have hurt both teams at the running back position.
32:18Good point.
32:18But this was excellent by Kyler Murray understanding that ball's got to get to the edge quickly.
32:24He's got space.
32:26And he's trying to run with it before he caught it.
32:29He's got some of his teammates trying to pick Di Mercado, the third-year man out of TCU.
32:36Домбург.
32:40Салон дров.
32:4114 plays ends up with a game
32:44time field goal from Rylan in
32:45this rock fight in the Bay.
32:50Four double digit play drives
32:52and just six points to show for
32:54it for Arizona were tied up past
32:57the midway point of the third.
32:59You had a drop on that drive
33:01as did Harrison.
33:02With that Rams loss today I
33:04mean you can make some moves
33:05This is a chance for one of these teams to just out-execute the other and avoid some big mistakes.
33:15Talked about stacking wins, Mark, early in the year when you have chances,
33:19when every team is trying to find some rhythm and trying to get some traction.
33:24A huge chance with the Rams losing to Philly.
33:27These two 2-0 teams trying to get the 3-0.
33:29Nice return by Scott Moore as he'll take it out past the 35.
33:35And Mac Jones back out onto the field.

33:54Mac Jones from Jacksonville, Florida, played for the late Corky Rogers,
33:59a legendary Florida high school coach at the Bulls School.
34:05He's going to drop back deep, launch something downfield, and it's Ricky Pearsall down to the 47-yard line in Arizona territory in front of Denzel Burke.
34:15Well, Mac is accurate at throwing these big in balls, and Ricky Pearsall sure loves to run them,
34:23but it's really the discipline at the top of the route getting back to the football
34:27because that ball was just slightly behind him.
34:30You see Ricky Pearsall maturing right before our eyes in just his second year.
34:35Fake it to McCaffrey.
34:45Guess who?
34:46Once again, Ricky Pearsall in front of Buda Baker that time.
34:52Pearsall, when he was two years old, he would play catch with his dad, Ricky Sr.
34:55Ricky Sr. played college football at Northern Arizona.
34:58Again, an Arizona native is Pearsall.
35:00And every time two-year-old Ricky Jr. would make a catch, he'd get a prize.
35:04That prize was one Skittle.
35:06He's got five Skittles today for 67 yards.
35:11That's excellent.
35:14Good father-son time.
35:16Played at Corona del Sol High School.
35:19And then three years at Arizona State before transferring to Florida.
35:23Christian McCaffrey breaks through.
35:25Down inside the 25 of Arizona and Jake Tonjes with a nice block along the edge for San Francisco.
35:35Well, there's some key blocks here.
35:37One's there, but another big one on the edge.
35:40Watch Valdez-Scantling.
35:42Boom!
35:42There's Tonjes.
35:44And Valdez-Scantling on the edge covering up color on the outside.
35:48That's what you need.
35:50And now back to the great sequencing of Shanahan.
35:5615-yard run for McCaffrey.
35:58He had 14 the entire day prior.
36:01And another good run from Christian McCaffrey.
36:04Although there's a flag thrown on the nearest side of the field.
36:07Mack Wilson and McCaffrey collide out of bounds.
36:10Let's check that penalty marker.
36:12One, two, three, four.
36:14One, two, three.
36:16One, two, three.
36:18One, two, three.
36:22Holding.
36:24Offensive or 84.
36:26Ten-yard penalty.
36:27First down.
36:28Third holding penalty accepted against San Francisco.
36:31This one was Kendrick Bourne.
36:34That's Kendrick Bourne on Melton right there on the edge as he was getting around the corner.
36:41Right when that run game seemed like they were picking up, they stalled it again.
36:45This has been the theme for both teams, both offenses all day.
36:49Hey, here's a nice chunk play.
36:51Now a five-yard penalty.
36:52Here's a chunk play.
36:53Here's a penalty.
36:54Here's a loss.
36:55That's kind of been the theme of the day.
36:57Jones drops back.
37:00And a losing grab is made by Ricky Pearsall.
37:04Nice catch radius extending that time to pick up five.
37:08That'll be second down and 12.
37:09Full extension cut the back end of the ball with his fingertips.
37:17That's one of those, that's like two Skittles stuck next to each other in the bag right there for Pearsall.
37:24I don't know.
37:25I think his dad still gives him one.
37:26You can only catch it once.
37:28You don't think once in a while?
37:29Just go ahead.
37:29That's one big one right there.
37:35He's in motion now, Pearsall.
37:37He got a head start.
37:39Jones can't find him.
37:41He does find McCaffrey in front of Davis Gaither.
37:43Melton with the hit out of bounds.
37:45And it's going to set up third down and short here for San Francisco.
37:54Mac Jones felt like he held on to the ball a little too long last week against New Orleans.
37:59We're starting to see a little bit more decisive in these throws from Shanahan's backup QB.
38:05And you need that in this zone coverage type scheme.
38:08And you're feeling more and more comfortable as this game goes on.
38:12You've got to anticipate those zone windows that he's getting from Nick Rouse.
38:17Jones floats it.
38:19And it is caught for the first down by Pearsall in front of Jalen Thompson.
38:23Pearsall, the star of this drive so far for the anemic 49er offense.
38:28They've got first and goal.
38:30And watch Jalen Thompson on the outside.
38:34Remember, he's playing in position there because of some of these injuries, having to shuffle around.
38:43And Ricky Pearsall able to use his speed and burst, create enough separation for Mac Jones.
38:50Fourth catch on this drive for Pearsall.
38:56It is Brian Robinson, Jr.
38:58Muscling ahead inside the five, down to the three.
39:03Second down and goal.
39:05And Mac Jones is limping around a little bit now.
39:09Adrian Martinez has never played in an NFL regular season game.
39:13He is today's backup quarterback with Purdy down.
39:23This is the previous play, took the hit.
39:26And as he gets up, you can kind of see him immediately feeling some discomfort.
39:31McCaffrey's back in the game on second and goal with Juszczyk in front of him.
39:37It's McCaffrey.
39:38And it's going to be third down and goal.
39:46I wonder if this might potentially be four down territory for San Francisco based on how this game has gone.
39:54I think it is a really good discussion because both defenses are playing great.
40:00Force the other offense to go 99.
40:02I would think he got two cracks at it.
40:03And if you do, McCaffrey should be at the focal point of both of those attempts.
40:14It's up to San Francisco.
