09:07companies Kalia to give you guys some more insight into Kalia we have a special guest
09:16vice president and head designer for Kalia Alisha Scott so good to meet all of you we created Kalia
09:30about 10 years ago and really wanted to form a brand that is the perfect juxtaposition of fashion
09:37and femininity and function and I love how you guys have all styled all your pieces you got today
09:42our entire collection is rooted in performance if you're designing a look for Pilates or run it needs
09:49to be able to function we believe there's beauty in the burn how's it going to work whenever she is
09:54doing a downward dog make sure that when you're designing a piece it can be used for working out
09:59going to grab coffee going out to grab cocktails with your friends it needs to be versatile so not
10:06only has Kalia provided look books it also provided all the fabrications for the challenge that's not
10:13all Kalia is going to produce and sell the winning look from the winning collection that would be so
10:23cool to have a Joseph McCray and Kalia produce that I feel like it would eat down I love the idea of
10:29this like beauty in the burn so what if we have like fire on the runway like actual fire so you'll
10:38have all of today and part of tomorrow to create your fire worthy collections don't you love a one
10:44day challenge yes one day to do this as if there weren't enough stress already the burn of it all
10:52Ethan you want to see what it's like when you put Antonio and I together it's going to be game on
11:04and it's going to push me to even do better to beat him and then he's going to realize that he

11:14what's our team wow team winner team winning no it has something to do with fire team burn I guess
11:30it's final answer I'm glad I put together a strong team I really wanted to equalize the energy of our
11:37group by putting all of the boisterous energies on one team I am actually very happy that Ethan let
11:49go Jesus because I don't want another drama that was the one that I'm using like which one I can use
11:55it too and it could be hot to do the lines in the pop of red so we'll all have the lines and
12:04cooperators okay okay guys we need to start the cutting fabrics I just want to be cohesive I do
12:11like this color story situation going over here but we got we got to pick a group of fabrics and all go
12:17with it we decided to call our team the house of Lotus because we wanted to feel the vent within the
12:22burn and so coming off the last challenge being in the bottom our stickler was our cohesion so as we're
12:31going through these fabrics that Kalia provided us we're really paying attention to what color palette
12:36we want to do so that we really nail that cohesion this time because if we miss it two times in a row are we
12:42gonna be done for I love this fabric that was trying to get the colors out of this this has all your colors
12:49once again Antonio is choosing the fabric and I'm getting a little anxious because last time he chose
12:58fabric we were in the bottom can y'all roll the tape back the fabric that I brought from home is in pink
13:04so let's have the inspiration of our collection be butterflies that's the best one out of all of them
13:09I think we should go with that I don't like that no you like this better I mean I like this I don't
13:16like that either but I mean I wanted to start with Miss Joan I want to know what it is oh is the drama
13:23already beginning you know working with the twins you know they're a whole vibe but our looks have to
13:29be cohesive I love Miss Joan but she's a little little old school and stuck in the back in the days
13:35this fabric is so cool it's just more young I'll make it work
13:43don't use the fabric scissors you nincompoop I love Alex I didn't expect this competition to become
13:50so connective so quickly and me and Alex bonded so quickly it's so soft it's so cozy like she's
13:57gonna be in it I want it I'm making a lounge sweatsuit with a corset bustier top it
14:05all sprouted from trying to use the aspects of a kimono I grew up in Greensboro North Carolina but
14:14my Nana was a tailor from Nagasaki Japan so I find a lot of inspiration in what the Japanese call
14:22intangible cultural treasures but my mama would say that I don't bring enough of the South with me
14:29how are you feeling this week feeling great it looks really cool thank you so much I appreciate
14:37that you are absolutely looking at the next winner of Project Runway my design aesthetic is a combination
14:44of street wear and elegance I want to win Project Runway for my daughter Ava it's right here having her
14:52changed me as a person it gave me so much more drive and I do this all for her so I have to make this
14:58stand out and hopefully while the judges Madeline what informs your work I'm trying to always like see
15:10things that I like about vintage fashion but then giving it like my own little twist what about yourself
15:17I grew up in like a hoedunk farm town I just felt inherently so different from the rest of my
15:23family the only thing I could really do was you know rely on my own creativity and imagination to kind
15:29of distract me from maybe not feeling like I belong there did they accept you as you are like you know
15:36when I finally did come out they were like we don't get it yet but we just don't want to lose you
15:43so we're going to try to figure this out I feel really blessed to be able to have my family in my
15:50life so it makes me want to really push myself to win this for them hello hey how's the team going
16:02I do think the silhouette of this skirt you still have to figure out oh lord this might send me home
16:11I am a technical designer and I am a serious workaholic my family's Jamaican and I've always
16:20been raised with all the elders around me doing multiple things even if it's not their job they're
16:26gonna figure out how to do it that day and do it so I have to push myself because this workout
16:31weekend challenge is taking me out of my comfort zone I really wanted to do something that was
16:37extremely comfortable I think it feels a little too demure I think I made the right decision I was
16:44the one who fought to use this print because Mrs. Joan didn't like it she still doesn't like it okay so
16:49you did it again you wanted a print again everybody wants this print groundbreaking this circle skirt
16:59yeah mm-hmm I can cut a circle out right now and do this in 10 minutes really we're kind of not the
17:08exact same look from the last challenge but you're making a jacket and a jacket and a skirt a jacket and
17:15a skirt let me tell you a little something about Christian Seriano Christian to come in the workroom
17:21like are you sure about that or he be walking around like oh okay that little face be killing
17:29me with them glasses and that hair perfectly swapped it to the side the top being fabulous is very important
17:36here you should develop this more because you already know you can make a cool jacket I'm gonna
17:40listen to Christian because I know I'm taking a risk but I do not want to be in the bottom again
17:44you got a lot to do I got you okay let's get it I'm kind of going for like that modern with a
17:52little bit of Tron this sash doesn't do anything she couldn't do any athletic things with this hanging
17:59what are all these lines on this so I kind of want to achieve this kind of like texture all of these lines
18:09you're gonna weave the inspirations for this design is the Kalia logo it's like a twisted string it's
18:17like very dynamic what are you doing it's going to be like a more like athletic fancy corset bustier
18:28kind of thing this makes no sense for an athletic look that scares me athleisure specifically is not
18:36something that I normally do unfortunately time is not on our side in this competition Christian has
18:44his doubts about this corset but we're sticking to our guns hmm what are you doing I am doing an
18:52oversized hoodie which I'm thinking about cropping I did the pin tuck in my hand mm-hmm it's gonna have
18:58the same pin tuck and all over the pants as well so you're also doing a sweat oversized sweat
19:05oversized sweat pant in the same fabric is the pant wide like that wide you haven't even looked at
19:12each other's stuff and she's like writing she's right in front of you honestly I really don't know
19:17much about what my team is doing this is it yes looks very similar I haven't looked at the other
19:24designers on my team I've just been too focused so we just have a wide pant off on the runway in the
19:31same fabric what the like what am I gonna do next I need to think fast and pivot into some other
19:37different silhouette if I don't succeed I'm worried it might put me on the bottom
19:42so I'm looking at team Lotus and it does not fit the brief that we got so we both have mesh their
19:56looks are looking a little all over the place I think that we're gonna take this one home I look
20:01at the other team it's like crickets in that side of the room no one's really talking to each other and
20:06here we are like you know blah blah blah and then at night she just puts a glove on honey okay this do
20:13this like we're helping each other yes yes Ethan I hate to tell you but you will be the losing team
20:20this very cool jacket with a pleated skirt that's the top I think so so how does one do anything
20:39athletic in that top I think I'm gonna hit eating it up and it's just like yeah no are we playing
20:50tennis where you tie your arms up if I don't come through with this bra like I feel like the whole look
20:56it's gonna go kaput it's so different when I design on paper and design you you trend's pleated skirt
21:04it's really short I thought it was a mistake but it's not a mistake because mama I'm a slut you decided
21:13yeah yeah I'm gonna do some nice George and in the cargo pockets that shoe are you nuts what kind of
21:22shoe blah whoa what let me find something that tic-tac shoe you have no side seam there's no side
21:33seam interesting you can do that look at her butt that's crazy these pants are styled after a Japanese
21:42hakama pant where there aren't really side seams and all of the volume is put into pleats across the back
21:50since we're paying homage to my Japanese ancestress it's really important for me
21:57to nail this look that I make and I am feeling the pressure

24:20day to create your collection all right let's meet our judges cfda award-winning stylist and image
24:26architect la roach editor-in-chief of el magazine nina garcia and our guest judge and co-owner of the
24:38fashion line favorite daughter sarah foster i'm so excited to see miss sarah foster she has a really
24:45good head on her shoulders around how to make a woman feel beautiful and comfortable in the clothes
24:49she's gorgeous okay we're ready let's start the show it's gonna be flaming hot
24:54i wish i had a marshmallow this got flammable hair now wait a minute i told you it was gonna be hot

25:03i do feel like i have successfully captured the essence of this challenge with creating something
25:20that goes from workout to weekend with the pin tuck in the silhouette the styling was really good
25:26i'm feeling really confident oh she's a professional you know you know look at us now
25:33i'm very proud of this look my look looks very modern sexy and fun and the red line on the jacket
25:41is everything that is a short skirt but she's got some good legs look at us now
25:48i'm just looking at the outfit it's not as bad as i expected it to be
25:56but i know what's going on on the inside
26:00it's messy messy i'm not happy about it it could have been worse it could have also been better

26:13with my athleisure look i'm feeling pretty satisfied i like it i think it's cute it's nothing like
26:23really shocking but i am just elated that the athleisure challenge is in the past

26:42all those holes individually it takes a lot of work to create that textile
26:46i want to make sure that every piece that i make is a labor of love i don't get that curly hair with that

27:04i would wear that now i may have slayed a little bit too hard this week so i'm hoping that it can pull

27:17this look is very universal this girl can do pilates and then put some heels on put a jacket on and go
27:24have a cocktail with the girl just at night i'm proud of myself it would mean a lot to win this
27:28challenge i have that collab with calia coming for the crowd i'ma shut it down
27:36i'm happy with how this look turned out i feel like it's me and i'm starting to be more confident
27:43in what i'm designing and believe whatever i'm creating is good

27:56fabric i was able to be a team player and i think that she looks fabulous i love the drama

28:26party bring out the tata i took a risk with almost recreating my previous look

28:45that the pants are moving how powerful she looks i'm feeling great i could definitely see this in
28:52stores and see a lot of people wanting these pants wanting this bomber even the bag i love this our team
28:59everything was executed beautifully and i think that that showed on the runway

31:40yay and she could throw on a pump or a heel and go straight to the weekend which that was the challenge
31:46thank you so much i would wear that jacket to the gym but then i'd also wear it to dinner that night
31:51with a pair of jeans i don't i i'm into you i don't know how else i can say it i mean i'm just into
31:56all of it i like your look too i like her vibe it stands out it's memorable to me she's badass and

36:28think that's versatile a lot of people can wear that it's just really that's that's all i liked
36:32about it you guys like the ties hey i love dangling i think it kind of looks like a tampon i think
36:38oh i mean this is this is unwearable i also don't understand this girl i think the work that you've
36:46done i think it's quite beautiful but it doesn't scream active wear to me at all like i don't get

37:33but i appreciate that you added that detail yeah on sweats i think it's really well made but it's

38:10can but you gave her a corset she doesn't look comfortable at all she can't work out in this
