00:00There's been a lot of talk about free speech this week.
00:03Do you see a difference between cancel culture and consequence culture?
00:09I mean, your question's a little trick question.
00:12I'm a very strong person for free speech.
00:15At the same time, when you have networks that where I won an election, like in counties,
00:22I guess it's 2,600 to 525, that's called landslide times two, when you have that kind of, that
00:32level of popularity or voter support, as I did in the last election.
00:36And yet, 97 and 94 percent, different numbers, you see different numbers with different stats,
00:44but 97, 94, 95, 96 percent of the people are against me in the sense of the newscasts are against me.
00:57The stories are 90, they said 97 percent bad.
01:01So they gave me 97, they'll take a great story and they'll make it bad.
01:06Yeah, Mr. President, if I can, on the subject of free speech,
01:10Ted Cruz compared Brendan Carr to a mob boss, the way he's threatening television stations
01:16and saying it's absolutely dangerous for the government to determine which speech is okay and which is not.
01:23What's your reaction to Ted Cruz?
01:25I think Brendan Carr is an incredible American patriot with courage.
01:29You know, it used to be, I remember in the old days that networks would have to get licensed, relicensed,
01:35and it was always a big deal, you know, they had to show honesty and integrity.
01:40When you have a network, again, I'll use the same numbers, whether it's 90 or 94 or 97, all different numbers,
01:47but when you have networks that give somebody 97 percent bad publicity or 94 percent bad publicity,
01:55I think that's, I think that's dishonesty.
01:58And, you know, they're getting free airwaves, right?
02:01You know that, right?
02:02You get them for nothing.
02:02These airwaves, they make millions and millions of dollars.
02:05The news makes millions of dollars.
02:07ABC, your network.
02:09I mean, your network wrote very badly about me and they had to pay me $16 million.
02:14So do you think you have a right or that Brendan Carr is a right to take away the license?
02:18No, I think Brendan Carr is a patriot.
02:20I think Brendan Carr is a courageous person.
02:22I think Brendan Carr doesn't like to see the airwaves be used illegally and incorrectly and purposely horribly.
02:32He doesn't like to see a person that won the election in a landslide get 97 percent bad publicity before the election.
02:40I mean, it's amazing that I won the election with that.
02:44But here's what happened.
02:46The people have given your networks no credibility.
02:49They don't give them any credibility, John.
02:51If they did, they wouldn't vote for me.
02:52They wouldn't have voted for me.
02:54When you look at, I mean, you could also say the liberal media, the liberal left.
03:01When you look at these stories and papers, but we're not talking about that.
03:05We're talking about, I assume you're talking mostly about the networks.
03:07But they have a licensing procedure, and you can read it as well.
03:11They have to show honesty and integrity.
03:15And when they take a good, well, I think the people decide.
03:20That's why I'm president.
03:21When they take a great success, like you often do, and you make it into like it's a loser or you put a negative spin on it, I don't think that's right.
03:32So I think Brendan Carr is a great American patriot.
03:35So I disagree with Ted Cruz on that.
03:36I just want to settle this free speech question, because you've said that you restored free speech in America.
03:42Is that free speech, including for people who are harshly critical of you, for your political opponents, for people who say things you don't like, who treat you unfairly?
03:51I just want to settle this free speech question, because you've said that you restored free speech in America.
03:57Is that free speech, including for people who are harshly critical of you, for your political opponents, for people who say things you don't like, who treat you unfairly?
04:05I've become immune to it.
04:07There's never been a person that's had more unfair publicity than me.
04:11And so NBC is equally bad.
04:13I don't know who's worse.
04:14I think they're equally bad.
