02:33It's a quite outstanding finish.
02:36Brilliant.
02:37He can't believe it, look at it.
02:39A magnificent strike.
02:43Oh, they were!
02:45Magnificent.
02:46Absolutely magnificent.
02:47An absolute boy!
02:51And they're all!
02:53Ungradle joy!
02:55Oh, that's a great goal!
02:58Absolute genius.
03:01That's how cricket can happen!
03:03Out of us, Warren.
03:03Between now and May's final in Budapest,
03:09TNT Sports will be bringing you 174 Champions League matches live.
03:14And we get underway in Bilbao,
03:16where just 17 weeks ago, Tottenham claimed Europa League glory.
03:20Tonight, though, it's their North London rivals, Arsenal, who are in town.
03:25Mikel Arteta, for seeing his side reach the quarter-finals and then the semi-finals in the last two campaigns.
03:31Can he lead his reinforced squad to the final this time around?
03:35Well, Declan Rice is back in the team tonight, and Odegaard is out with that shoulder injury.
03:39It's also Champions League debuts for Arsenal, for Eze, Mascara, Madawaki, Zubimendi and Giorca Rez.
03:48Well, their hosts return to Europe's elite competition for the first time since 2014,
03:53and kick-off having suffered their first loss of the season at the weekend.
03:57Nico Williams committed his future to the club in the summer, but he's an absentee tonight due to injury.
04:04Big blow for that team.
04:05Well, it is great to see you all.
04:07Thank you so much for joining us for the new season.
04:09I'm in the company tonight of Martin Keown and Steve McMahon.
04:12Great to have you boys back as well.
04:14Listen, there's a really brilliant representative of the Premier League clubs in the Champions League this season, isn't there, Maka?
04:20Yes, and it's a wonderful tournament, as we all know.
04:23The fact that we're lopsided, really.
04:26Having six teams, very fortunate, and it's going to be incredibly exciting.
04:30A lot of teams in England, as we well know, compared to a lot of teams across Europe, we've strengthened very well.
04:37We've actually got new squads coming into it.
04:39You know, the English teams are highly rated.
04:42So, let's hope that, I mean, a lot of them go, of course, all of them can't go the way,
04:46but let's go really deep into the competition, and I think they've got a great chance, starting with Arsenal tonight.
04:51Yeah, Liverpool Arsenal being ranked first and second.
04:54You've answered my question.
04:56Higher than PSG.
04:57Well, PSG are the team, we all know that we're going to have to beat, but it'll be interesting.
05:02I mean, we started the first programme, whether or me and Maka are here for the last programme,
05:05representing Arsenal and Liverpool would be something, wouldn't it, to shout about?
05:09There's already pressure, as there always is with Arsenal, but now they've got their reinforcements.
05:14Do they have no excuse? Do they have to go that one step further, Martin? Do you feel like that?
05:19I think the injuries weren't excuses, it was a reality, it was something that Arsenal had to deal with,
05:23but the show of strength at the weekend, you know, to make, like, wholesale changes,
05:28they were so reliant on that 11 that he had to go with.
05:32Again, tonight, it's a bit unfamiliar, completely different from three,
05:35but the strength in death is what you need.
05:37If you want to be successful, the Arsenal teams I've been in, I look back at the 2-0-2 team,
05:42plays the last game to win it at Old Trafford, doesn't have Dennis Bergkamp or Omri,
05:46they're not around, it's Wiltord and Canoes, so you need that, you know, quality players everywhere,
05:52and they're certainly queuing up now to play for Arsenal.
05:54What sort of fixture is this one tonight for them, Bilbao?
05:56I think it should be comfortable enough for Arsenal seeing, I've seen a lot of Bilbao,
06:02they lost at the weekend, even though they started the season off with three straight wins,
06:06I don't think the opposition were incredibly strong.
06:08I think Arsenal should be favourites tonight, and they are favourites,
06:11and I think they'll get the job done.
06:12I don't think there's a lot of pressure on Arsenal with their reinforcements,
06:16I think there's pressure on them to win the Premier League,
06:18I don't necessarily think there's pressure on them to go further in this competition,
06:21they were great last year, but I think this competition,
06:24you need a lot of luck at certain times of the season,
06:27I think it's very different to the Premier League.
06:29So I think if Arsenal, you know, carry on in the same vein,
06:32they'll go really deep in this conversation, I've got no problem about that at all.
06:35OK, well look, Arsenal's win at the weekend, saw all three goals scored by new recruits,
06:39and it also highlighted Arteta's new strength in depth that Martin was talking about just there.
06:45Let's hear from the Arsenal boss himself, then he's pitch side now, with Danny Jamieson.
06:48Mikel, let's start with the team that you've named tonight.
06:54Why only one change for the weekend with Declan Rice coming back into midfield?
06:58Well, certain things because of availability of certain players,
07:01others because they are in good form, and yeah, a very important match, obviously,
07:04our first match in this campaign at Champions League, so looking forward to it.
07:09Talking of players in good form, looking at the back four,
07:11William Saliba comes back in onto the bench,
07:13Christian Mosquera keeps his place, is that because of how well he did on Saturday?
07:16Yeah, that well, and obviously, Willy hasn't trained since the Liverpool game.
07:21It's been a while, only on some very light sessions,
07:24and it's going to be good to introduce him at some point.
07:27Lots of your players know what the atmosphere in this place is like.
07:29I'm sure you've felt what it's been like in a city where everybody is so up for this game.
07:34How important is it to combat that atmosphere, try to keep them quiet early on?
07:38Yeah, that's how we want, come here and dominate the game.
07:40We've done it in various countries last season in a really convincing way,
07:45and that's what it requires, play with a lot of personality, a lot of authority.
07:48That's what we'll try to do.
07:50I know you spoke in a press conference yesterday about what this region means to you.
07:53I'm sure you'll have an awful lot of friends back in San Sebastian,
07:56hoping that you win, not just for you, but because of that rivalry.
07:59Yes, and obviously, very special for me to come here and looking forward to it.
08:04You spoke yesterday about needing versatility in these sort of games,
08:07the versatility you have in a squad.
08:08What sort of a performance is it going to take to get the win tonight?
08:10Yeah, it's very tough.
08:12We're going to have to be at a really, really high level for long periods,
08:15and we'll have periods where we'll have to suffer and navigate through that.
08:18That's the Champions League.
08:20That's the nature of that, especially when we play away from home.
08:22But we are ready.
08:23Good luck tonight.
08:24Okay, let's have a little recap then of this team tonight for Arsenal.
08:29As we said earlier on, it's only Declan Rice that is the change from the Forest game at the weekend.
08:33Obviously, Martin Odegaard is out with that shoulder injury.
08:36And this front three of Maduaki, Giorcares and Eze was quite impressive against Forest, actually.
08:41A lot of the fans quite liked it as well.
08:43What did you make of it, Martin?
08:44Well, Eze, particularly for that second goal, the ball came into the box.
08:48First-time touch.
08:49A lovely ball into the box.
08:51And then Giorcares, the predator, you feed him, you'll score goals.
08:55Maduaki, though, is the one that's impressed me most.
08:57When he came in, as I said, side of the pitch, I wondered how collective is he?
09:03He seemed a little bit selfish.
09:04But all his decision-making had been absolutely outstanding.
09:07And he's the real plus for them.
09:08But I think we need to look in that midfield.
09:10We have a Spanish midfield going home.
09:13They play together in the two internationals.
09:15Supermendi is a little bit of a Fabregas-like player for me.
09:18He goes under the radar.
09:20Everything is just precision.
09:22His goals that he scored at the weekend.
09:25And also, Moreno is another one who's playing in the national team.
09:29So, we're in good hands.
09:31Rice will come in now, gives it a bit more strength.
09:32Ferdegaard dropping out.
09:34Maybe it's better to go in a European game away from home with a bit more steel in that midfield.
09:38Yeah, the Basque boys will know that, Martin.
09:40You know, Moreno, Zubemendi going back to the Basque land.
09:43Of course, their fiercest rivals, Athletic Club.
09:45Even Mosquera, who hasn't played, has played in Spain.
09:47So, he's been here many times.
09:49So, there shouldn't be any fear factor for Arsenal.
09:53I think they'll go and impose.
09:54You see, the time of day, it's nice and warm in Bilbao.
09:59You know, it's not going to be under the lights, heavy, you know, things like that.
10:02I think this will suit Arsenal down to the ground.
10:04These soft footballers, they need it nice and warm, do they?
10:06No, I don't mean that.
10:07I mean, for the crowd, I mean, the atmosphere, when it's warm.
10:10The first game.
10:11And the time of day.
10:12The Spanish don't come out on a weekday like this.
10:15They went to Atalanta, didn't they, this time last year.
10:17It was a tough game.
10:19They're always this first game.
10:20You want to get some points on the board early on.
10:22Yeah, build a little bit of momentum.
10:24Listen, the opening night of the Champions League action this week
10:26is spread across three nights,
10:28with 17 matches live across the TNT Sports channels.
10:31On top of the Arsenal and Real Madrid games tonight,
10:34we've also got Liverpool against Atletico,
10:36Chelsea's trip to Bayern and the holders PSG.
10:39They're all in action tomorrow.
10:40That's going to be a huge night.
10:41And on Thursday, it continues because Newcastle hosts Barcelona
10:45and Kevin De Bruyne's return to Manchester City
10:48with Napoli is going to be on as well.
10:50God, there's some massive matches.
10:52I need to talk more about this than the Champions League as a whole
10:55because, look, we've got some brilliant fixtures already
10:56and also a chance to see all the favourites pretty much,
10:59Macca, across the next few nights.
11:01Yeah, and it'll be interesting to see how they developed
11:04over the summer months because, of course,
11:06certain teams have been busy in the transfer window.
11:09Barcelona haven't done much business.
11:11PSG, the same.
11:12So it'll be interesting to see how they improve.
11:16And they're the teams to beat.
11:17Real Madrid have done a lot of business,
11:18but they've started the season off really well,
11:20but they've been a little bit slow in how they approach games.
11:23So it'll be nice.
11:24This is the really first competitive game
11:26when the big teams play against some of the favourites
11:29across Europe as well.
11:30I've got to ask, Martin,
11:32obviously we've asked your thoughts about Arsenal already,
11:34but for the British clubs as well,
11:36who are the best equipped at the moment
11:37to go on and become champions?
11:40Well, Liverpool.
11:41I mean, that's the next step for them now.
11:43They've spent ÂŁ250 million.
11:46ISAC's not even available yet.
11:48And look what they're doing in the Premier League,
11:50finding a victory, so many late goals.
11:53So they need to bring that to the Champions League.
11:56So they are our best representative.
11:58But, you know, there's some...
12:00I mean, six teams that we've got now.
12:02I can't wait to see how it goes for Napoli back at Man City
12:05because Man City sort of re-emerging.
12:07De Bruyne are told he's not good enough anymore, really,
12:09because that's effectively what you're saying.
12:12You know, he could cause an upset there.
12:13Napoli have got some very decent players as well.
12:16I'm quite looking forward to seeing how they play.
12:18You were just talking about PSG there.
12:19They haven't changed that much.
12:20They did obviously make the Donnarumma change in goal,
12:22which surprised a few people.
12:24But how do they go again if they haven't necessarily changed a lot
12:28apart from who's between the sticks?
12:30Well, they just need the hunger of the players
12:32to try and achieve what they achieved last year.
12:35It's going to be difficult, as you rightly said,
12:37whether they can sustain the form
12:39and that front three can sustain the form.
12:41And also, to a certain extent, it's like a second-season syndrome.
12:44Everybody knows what Dembele wants to do,
12:46what Bargala wants to do, what Dwe wants to do.
12:48So they'll be more equipped to stop them this year.
12:51And they'll have seen the Club World Cup
12:53and how teams can get at them.
12:54So I think they'll find it a lot difficult this year.
12:57Barcelona might step up.
12:58I like what Bayern have done.
12:59They've moved some players on who've been there a while
13:01and addressed certain areas of their squad.
13:04So they could be, I mean, as much as they're behind the scenes,
13:08really, they're still a force to be reckoned with,
13:10particularly in the Allianz.
13:11You haven't mentioned Real Madrid, Matthew.
13:13Yeah, they've spent well and they've strengthened right across the back.
13:19I've seen them a few times this year live
13:21and I just want to see them in Europe
13:22because it's too easy for them in La Liga.
13:25They need to up their game and the tempo needs to be a lot quicker.
13:30And, you know, that's when we'll see the real Real Madrid,
13:32the cruising at the moment in La Liga.
13:34It doesn't count.
13:35All right, guys, we'll be back in a moment.
13:36But in May, the Bilbao streets were full of celebrating Spurs fans.
13:40Tonight, the other side of North London Divide are in the town
13:44and a trip to Spain should bring about some happy memories
13:48for the travelling Arsenal fans
13:49whose last trip to the country saw them beat Real Madrid.
13:52We're going to continue our build-up next.
13:54See you in a moment.
14:02This programme is brought to you by Bet365.
14:06You wait for Champions League official partner.

16:00That takes a wider view of your health.
16:09Welcome to VHI.
16:14Gracie, did you know the picture?
16:15Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.
16:19Y'all need paintbrushes, paint, paint,
16:21everything, what if it's a flash?
16:23Hey, where's he going?
16:26Daddy, what are you doing?
16:28Nothing.
16:29At Vodafone, we understand the power
16:31of a strong connection.
16:32Happy birthday, love.
16:36Dunkers!
16:38I love it.
16:39Make every connection count
16:40with Vodafone fibre broadband.
16:42This programme is brought to you by Heineken.
16:52Where's my lucky soccer?
16:56You wait for Champions League
16:57official partner.
17:06The best team I played in without doubt
17:08was the Rangers side of the late 80s
17:10in the early 90s.
17:11Cloyste on the far side.
17:14It's a super goal.
17:16Won nine titles in a row.
17:18Effectively, we were one goal away
17:19from a Champions League final.
17:22Walter Moulded.
17:25An excellent team.
17:26Excellent team.
17:27We had some great leaders as well
17:28when I had Richard Goff and Terry Butcher.
17:32We were two great captains
17:33and if you're captain in your country,
17:34England and Scotland,
17:36you've got something about you.
17:37Well, it wasn't the same team
17:39all the way through the period.
17:41There was a core
17:42of players
17:44which clearly helped
17:45and as soon as players
17:47were coming in to join
17:48that group of players,
17:50they knew immediately
17:51because there was five, six,
17:52seven, eight, nine, ten of us even
17:54that had been there for a period.
17:55So, that team that I played in
17:57late 80s, early 90s
18:00was certainly the best team
18:01I was involved in.
18:02Beating dementia
18:07isn't the task of one person
18:08or one profession.
18:10It will take all of us.
18:11It will take a team.
18:12It will take a society
18:13to beat dementia.
18:17TNT Sports has partnered
18:18with Alzheimer's Society
18:20this World Alzheimer's Month
18:21by creating short films
18:23with Ali, Joe Cole
18:25and Mikel Antonio
18:26exploring how success in sport
18:28and in life
18:29is never a solo act.
18:32All three of those
18:33powerful films
18:34are available to watch
18:35on Discovery Plus
18:36and the TNT Sports
18:37YouTube channel right now.
18:40Well, northern Spain
18:41is familiar territory
18:42for Mikel Arteta
18:43and a trio of Arsenal midfielders
18:46with them all having played
18:47on the real sociodad side
18:50of the Basque rivalry.
18:52I told you it was a difficult read.
18:53Arteta returns to the region
18:55armed with a reinforced Arsenal squad
18:58and also hoping to go
18:59one step further
19:00than last season's run
19:01to the semi-finals.
19:06Keep it short.
19:07That's it.
19:08Surely that's it now.
19:11Cruel.
19:12Now it's a three-goal lead
19:14that Paris Saint-Germain
19:15have with 18 minutes
19:16of this semi-final to play.
19:18A little bit of pain
19:19in the stomach.
19:21We put so much
19:22into those games
19:23and I think for most periods
19:24we were the better team
19:26but at the end
19:26those games are defined
19:28by very small margins.
19:31The goalkeeper made
19:31a huge difference
19:32to take him to the final.
19:34Athens in general
19:35was a really positive campaign.
19:37We had obviously
19:38the chances to win the tie
19:39and to get through
19:40to the final
19:41but it wasn't meant to be
19:42so obviously
19:43with a little bit of pain
19:45and a lot of pride
19:46to reach the semi-final.
19:47This may only be
19:49Arsenal's third season
19:50back in the Champions League
19:51but they've made progression
19:52each year
19:53from a quarter-final
19:53two years ago
19:54to last season's
19:55painful semi-final defeat
19:57but this summer
19:58they went big
19:59to try to take that next step
20:01and give Mikel Arteta
20:02maybe the strongest squad
20:04Arsenal have had
20:04in years.
20:06I'm really happy
20:07with the squad.
20:08The balance,
20:08the type of personalities
20:09that we have.
20:10In this moment
20:11if you don't have players
20:12that can really do
20:13different things
20:14it's not going to be enough.
20:15We have a hell of a group.
20:17This year we have
20:18one more year
20:18in a match at all.
20:19That's going to make
20:20a big difference as well.
20:21We have a lot of players
20:22injured at the moment
20:23so we have a lot there
20:24so I'm thankful
20:25that we have done
20:26the recruitment
20:27in the summer
20:27because if not
20:28we would have been
20:29in a really difficult position.
20:30We want to do better
20:31than last year
20:32on every single aspect
20:33and that's why we play
20:34football
20:35that's why we play
20:35for Arsenal.
20:36Juegas contra
20:37el semifinalista
20:39de Champions
20:40con un proyecto
20:42increĂble
20:43con grandes incorporaciones
20:44pero es un partido
20:46que nos motiva
20:47porque al final
20:48en estas competiciones
20:49para llegar lejos
20:51tienes que enfrentarte
20:52a los mejores.
20:53Cuando eres pequeño
20:54ves grandes partidos
20:55de Champions
20:55por la tele
20:56y para la mayorĂa
20:57es un sueño
20:58hecho realidad
20:58el poder encima
21:00jugar contra todo
21:01un equipo
21:01como el Arsenal
21:03en nuestro campo
21:03en nuestra casa.
21:05Tentaremos hacer
21:06lo mejor posible
21:06y ojalĂĄ
21:07los primeros tres puntos
21:08se queden en casa.
21:09Ernesto
21:09this is the first time
21:11back in the Champions League
21:12for Athletic
21:12in 11 years
21:13how big an achievement
21:15is that for the club
21:16and for the fans?
21:17I was the coach
21:18in 11 years
21:19so I know
21:20that it's a big
21:20achievement for us
21:21we know
21:22that in front of us
21:24is one of the favourites
21:26to win the title
21:27we have to try.
21:28This is one of
21:29the most football mad areas
21:31in all of Europe
21:32and it's got a rivalry
21:33to match.
21:34Real Sociedad
21:34from nearby San Sebastian
21:36might not be
21:36in the Champions League
21:37this year
21:38but they will have
21:39representation on the pitch
21:40tonight
21:40in the form of
21:41former players
21:41Martin Zouimendi
21:42and Mikel Marino
21:43and the Arsenal manager
21:45a boyhood
21:46Real Sociedad fan.
21:48The passion that you live
21:49in the north of Spain
21:50is because of the rivalry
21:51that it creates the passion
21:53it creates the standards
21:54to be better than your neighbour
21:55and that's the beauty of football.
21:57They're going to play
21:58every ball with them
21:59they're going to celebrate
21:59every action of the game
22:01we know that
22:02when you go to Europe
22:03you're going to find
22:03scenarios like this
22:04we are so used to
22:05in the Premier League
22:06as well to do that
22:07and be ourselves
22:08and impose our game
22:09that's what we have to do.
22:15Well Arsenal have been
22:16very busy this summer
22:17haven't they?
22:18They're just heading out
22:19to the pitch now
22:19in Bilbao.
22:21Do you feel Martin
22:22they've addressed
22:23all of the shortcomings
22:24that they've experienced
22:25in the previous few seasons
22:27or is it too early
22:27to say yet?
22:28A little bit early
22:29I mean Jochores
22:29the goal scorer
22:31is the sort of key position
22:32for me
22:32but I think he's addressed
22:33certainly in midfield
22:35the defence we know
22:36is stocked with
22:37really good players
22:38I think it's an interesting
22:39one now
22:40how the players
22:41who were used to
22:41playing last year
22:42how they react
22:43so someone like Martinelli
22:45sitting on the bench
22:46how does he feel right now
22:47how professional
22:48will he be?
22:49Lewis Skelly
22:50a little bit of a
22:51knockback maybe
22:52the first of his career
22:53you know he's going to
22:54have to be patient
22:55but he's going to
22:56you know
22:56the competition for places
22:57you've almost got
22:58two players now
22:59for every position
23:00so you're equipped
23:01to do something special
23:02you've got five injuries
23:04already
23:04so you know
23:05look
23:05people will get games
23:07or clearly will get games
23:08but the ones who don't play
23:09you have to react
23:10in the right way
23:11you need that don't you
23:12with the players
23:13in each position
23:13you've got the backups
23:14on the bench as well
23:15we see City do it
23:16for season after season
23:17that rotation is so key
23:19and so important
23:19you've also got the likes
23:20of Eze coming in
23:22and getting a Champions League
23:23debut
23:23which for a player
23:24of his talent
23:25surely he deserves
23:26to be on this stage
23:27absolutely he does
23:28and I think it was
23:30it was a magnificent
23:31sign because it's easy
23:34for me to say
23:34at the end of the transfer window
23:36wasn't it
23:36you know they brought in
23:37five or six players
23:38and then suddenly
23:39right at the end
23:40Eze coming in
23:40who's potentially
23:41a world superstar
23:43and I think when he joins
23:44an Arsenal team
23:45and he plays at the
23:46bigger stadiums
23:48and the bigger competitions
23:49I think he will get better
23:50he looks like one of those
23:51players that he just
23:52takes on his back
23:52and thinks this is very
23:53very easy
23:54with Maduecki
23:55one side who's young
23:56I think their business
23:58in the transfer window
23:58has been exceptional
23:59I really do
24:00there's no excuses
24:00for me
24:01for Arsenal
24:01if they don't do
24:02anything this year
24:03because the squad
24:05that they've assembled
24:05is outstanding
24:06it's one of the best
24:08in Europe
24:08I think with Eze
24:09it's very interesting
24:11Mac
24:12of being at the game
24:12at the weekend
24:13seeing the players react
24:14when he gets the ball
24:15you know
24:15seeing players like
24:16okay he's going to find me
24:18you know
24:19and Jokeres
24:20the goalie scores
24:20you know
24:21okay he hasn't had
24:22many opportunities
24:23but that was
24:24he put it on a plate for him
24:25and I think that he's
24:26a game changer
24:27and that's the sort of player
24:28how it came about
24:29I know they were interested in him
24:30Havertz gets injured late on
24:32and they go after him
24:33but I think it's a really
24:34significant signing
24:34yeah
24:35all right guys
24:36we're going to go back
24:36to Bilbao
24:37because we need to check in
24:38now with Danny Jamieson
24:39who is in wonderful company
24:41with Ali McCoy
24:41a very good evening
24:44to you Laura
24:44welcome to a beautiful
24:45night for football
24:46here in Bilbao
24:47in a wonderful stadium
24:48Ali McCoy
24:49has been out for some
24:50retail therapy
24:51this afternoon
24:52you're looking very smart
24:53well it's a great place
24:54it's not the first time
24:55we've been here
24:55in the last couple of years
24:56wonderful place to come to
24:58and we get to watch tonight
24:59the team that you think
25:00is maybe the best equipped
25:01English team
25:02to go on and win
25:03this Champions League
25:03why Arsenal?
25:04I just think
25:05they're the best team
25:07defensively
25:07I really do
25:09and they've now got
25:10the added bonus
25:11of Mascara coming in
25:12who does not look
25:13out of place one bit
25:15they've got options
25:17at full back
25:17goalkeeper swallowed
25:18I love the two centre backs
25:20and I just think
25:21defensively they're as strong
25:23if not the strongest team
25:23in the tournament
25:24listen clearly
25:25you can argue
25:26there might be other teams
25:26with slightly more flair
25:27more goal scoring threat
25:29but I just like the look
25:30at Arsenal defensively
25:31and even
25:32not even looking at the defence
25:34over the summer
25:34a big player
25:35brought in
25:36Victor Gokoraz
25:37you saw an awful lot
25:38in the Champions League
25:38last year
25:39yeah
25:39he was excellent
25:41he saw him a good few times
25:42scored an awful lot of goals
25:44and there was nobody more
25:45you know
25:46critical maybe
25:47not the right word
25:48but I think Arsenal needed
25:49an out centre forward
25:51they've certainly got one now
25:52but the important thing is
25:53I think they have to play
25:54to his strengths as well
25:55he's obviously hit the ground run
25:56with a couple of goals
25:57two or three goals
25:57but he needs
25:58he will need service
25:59I don't think
26:00he's more a Harland
26:01than an Isaac
26:02is the point I think
26:03I'm trying to make
26:04get deliveries into the box
26:05I think he'll score goals
26:06but Arsenal certainly
26:07I think looking at the part
26:08even in the defeat
26:09at Liverpool
26:10I don't think it was an awful lot
26:11between the sides then
26:12now very quickly
26:13because we've got to save
26:14some of this stuff
26:14for your commentary
26:15but Martin Zubimendi
26:16you were really impressed
26:17with him on Saturday
26:17is he the sort of player
26:18that can maybe bring the best
26:19out of Gokoraz
26:20in that forward line
26:21I think he is
26:21I think he sees it
26:22I think he can thread passes
26:24I know he's not renowned
26:25for his goalscoring
26:26but he certainly proved that
26:27wrong at the weekend
26:28yeah
26:29he's a very very clever
26:30intelligent player
26:31and one that
26:31as a centre forward
26:32he would certainly enjoy
26:33playing with
26:34just giving Leandro Trossard
26:35his ball back
26:36get your body in front of him
26:37I was going to say
26:37I'll let you show me out
26:38you've got to protect it
26:39absolutely
26:39I appreciate it
26:41you've got to get up
26:41to that gantry
26:42Laura by the way
26:42we've been walking around
26:43the city
26:44all day really
26:45so many people
26:47in red and white shirts
26:48this club means so much
26:49to the region
26:50so much to the city
26:51the whole place is bouncing
26:52this place
26:53when kick-off comes
26:54is going to be as well
26:55I can tell those two
26:58have had a good day
26:59in the town today
27:00well
27:01Mikel Arteta
27:02has reinforced his squad
27:03but for their host tonight
27:04their biggest success
27:05is in the transfer window
27:07it might not be
27:07who's arrived
27:08but who's actually stayed
27:10the brilliant
27:10Nico Williams
27:11signed a new contract
27:12with Bilbao
27:12but in a huge blow
27:14to his team's chances
27:15tonight
27:15he is missing
27:16with a hip injury
27:17we're going to get
27:17more build-up
27:18coming up next

32:20Where's my lucky sock?
32:23You wait for Champions League official partner.
32:32Welcome back to the opening night of the Champions League everyone here on TNT Sports.
32:36We've got another double header for you to enjoy with us.
32:39We're here on one with Real Madrid against Marseille later on.
32:42But first, it's Arsenal's trip to Bilbao.
32:45And let's have a little look.
32:46There are five players making their Champions League debuts for Arsenal tonight.
32:50You've got Maduweki.
32:51You've also got Giorcares, Eze, Mascara and Zubamendi all in there.
32:57And Declan Rice is the only change from the Forest game.
33:01He's coming in.
33:02Martin Odegaard has that shoulder injury and will not feature in tonight's game.
33:06So, a good team to play Bilbao this evening.
33:09Maka, I want to ask a little bit about what these Arsenal players can expect heading over to Bilbao at the moment.
33:14You don't know necessarily the stadium, but you know these fans well, don't you?
33:17Yes, and the fans are always very passionate.
33:20You know, they're very loyal because, of course, it's in the Basque region.
33:23They've got Basque players.
33:24They always get behind the team.
33:26I just feel as if, and I mentioned it earlier, and I'm only mentioning it because I've been and I've witnessed and I've seen and even as a fan I've done it,
33:34that, you know, this time of day, you know, there'll be people come home from work.
33:37That's why I think it'll be an easier atmosphere to control for Arsenal today.
33:41I think if it was later on in the evening, it was under the lights, it'll be a harder game.
33:45But, you know, kicking off 6.45, sun's shining, the weather's nice.
33:49I think it'll be, I think it will help Arsenal, I really do.
33:52It won't be as hostile, it won't be as vitriolic as it normally is, and I think it'll be quite comfortable for them.
33:58But there are five Arsenal players making their Champions League debuts tonight, so you have to take that into consideration.
34:05Only for Arsenal.
34:07Yeah, but if you were looking at, Eze was chatting to Maduaki as they were walking off the pitch at the weekend,
34:14straight away excited about this, you know, the idea of playing in the Champions League.
34:18They've watched it for years, never had a chance to play in it.
34:20So I think we should try and build on that excitement, that youth that surrounds us.
34:24Is this the perfect fixture for them then?
34:26To go in and, I'm not taking Bilbao lightly at all, but is this the kind of fixture that will build some sort of confidence for them in their first step in the Champions League?
34:34I think Spanish football, by and large, you have to respect that. I think it's a high level.
34:38But yes, when you look at sort of the previous experience of a lot of this squad having played there, maybe it is the perfect game.
34:46Ninety minutes from now, we'll be able to tell you the answer to that question.
34:49Maka, I've got to ask about Zubomendi because there's a lot of focus on Giorcares, as you'd expect, because Arsenal needed a number nine for a very long time.
34:57But how important now, looking at him, has Zubomendi proved to be?
35:01Well, I think he's going to be incredibly important because he allows Declan Rice to play a little bit further forward.
35:06And his reputation, Martin Zubomendi, has been excellent for a number of years.
35:09Everybody's compared him to Roddy. Different size, different physique.
35:12But his ability to control, move the ball, be in the right position at all the time, to break up play.
35:18I think he's, is he better than Partey? Is he better than Jorginho? The answer is a huge yes.
35:23So he should be able to take them to the next level. The big question is how he adapts to the Premier League and how he adapts to European football every single week.
35:32But when you see him in a Spanish national shirt, he looks as if he's made for this level, doesn't he? I don't think he's got a problem at all.
35:40Giorcares as well, there's a lot more to come from that player. He needs the service, doesn't he?
35:45He's a different kind of player to the team around him and he's not as, well, look, he scores the goals and that's what Arsenal need effectively, isn't it?
35:54They need to get the ball into wide areas and then put it in the box early because he gets that extra yard on the defender.
36:00Sometimes you can see him looking a little bit frustrated, but all these connections are so brand new.
36:05It takes time to find that rhythm. But what we saw at the weekend was really exciting from an Arsenal point of view, how well they played against Forest.
36:14And these midfield players, as we say, they're playing for Spain, aren't they?
36:17You know, Mourinho is a player we never mentioned. You know, he scored a hat-trick for the national team last time out.
36:22All right, guys. Well, look, four months have passed since PSG were crowned Kings of Europe in Munich.
36:27And tonight, Europe's football, European football, sorry, premier competition gets underway once again.
36:33This year, the road leads to Budapest and we have Arsenal's first steps in their journey towards Champions League glory as they visit Bilbao.
