This partnership with ESK was right for me because it's a product I organically used and it was
00:07
something that I had used with such relief. I went through a period of my life where my skin got
00:10
really bad after my son was born and it wasn't just reactive. It had like rashes and burning
00:20
and boils and I would see all these doctors and no one had any clear help for me. I just threw
00:27
more stuff and did more treatments and it just kept compounding and I didn't know where to start
00:33
again. When I went to an esthetician, it was on a little bit of a better stage, but I thought,
00:41
okay, I'll get someone to look at it. Maybe they can calm it. She said, I can't. There's nothing
00:46
we can do for you here today, but you know what? Just try and go home and calm it. Stop with
00:51
everything and just, you know what? I have this in my bag and try this. It was an ESK cleansing
00:56
product. And it was enough that after a few days and I didn't have the burning and the pulling and
01:04
the tightness and the rosacea and the throbbing, my skin just responded really well to it. And
01:09
so got on that track, but then there was an opportunity to meet the founders of ESK. And so I
01:19
did. And I had started adding a couple more products in, in that time and was really a fan.
01:25
So when it came to that, I'd get a chance, um, I jumped on it because ESK really made a difference
01:31
for me. And, um, then when I met Dr. Jenny, her knowledge was so impressive and inspiring and
01:40
clear. And I felt really safe and I wanted to do something really badly because it's, this is all
01:45
I, this is my skincare, you know, regime now. So we have always been really, really focused on
01:53
combining the most evidence-based actives with the things that are the least irritating.
01:59
And that comes in a few forms and you don't need to choose between effective and gentle.
02:05
As it turns out, some of the most effective ingredients are also the gentlest, but you need
02:10
to also be really cognizant of some of the excipients. So they're things like bulking agents,
02:17
colors, preservatives, things like that. Some of the cheaper ones can be really irritating
02:21
on the skin. We always exclude those. And we work to quite a tight brief in terms of the
02:27
pH of our products, the chemistry of the products to make sure that they most naturally align with
02:32
the skin. A lot of skincare products are way too alkaline, interestingly, and the skin really likes
02:37
being more acid. When we met with Selma, she gave us a pretty tough brief. She had met with a lot of
02:45
people who had the same issues as her, autoimmune, very sensitive skin. Still, they were aging. They
02:52
wanted the best anti-aging products ever. They didn't want to be spending thousands of dollars
02:58
every single week. They did not want to be putting a 15-step regime on their face. Let's face it,
03:02
who has time? And so she said, can you get us a single product that will allow people to save time
03:08
and save money? That will give them barrier repair, anti-aging benefits, anti-pigmentation benefits,
03:15
all in a single product. Now, that's a really tight brief and it was pretty tough, but we have come up
03:23
with something that I think is pure gold and we've been using it for six months now. And it's made a
03:28
big difference. Amazing. And our customers as well. We have got an incredibly loyal band of customers with
03:34
very sensitive skin. They're like our test guinea pigs and we love to give them some of our new
03:39
products in development. And it's been universally amazing feedback. It turns out that what Selma
03:45
wanted for her skin is what everybody wanted for their skin. You know, I never minded aging. I never
03:52
thought I'd get to be this old either. You know, you always have your like 16-year-old mentality and
03:58
you're like, I'm not going to worry about it. I didn't wear sunscreen a lot. I was very reactive.
04:03
As a kid, there's like paw button sunscreens. I'm like that old. So like I get these horrible burns
04:09
and I think it just scared me away for life, even though they stopped using that in products.
04:13
So like I just, um, really let life, uh, live on me. No. And I, it was, um, some, not something I
04:23
thought about too much, but then once I started, cause I never really felt well in my life. So I didn't
04:28
even think of aging. I didn't, but once I did get to realize I was lucky enough to be aging and aging in
04:34
a more healthful way, um, it was time to tackle my skin and feel more confident. And my skin was
04:41
clear by now. There wasn't the same like lesions and abrasions and things that were happening in
04:47
dermatitis, but I was not addressing hydration, cellular renewal. Cause I was a little nervous.
04:54
Um, so this is, um, makes me much more comfortable feeling like, okay, I'm doing the right thing for
05:03
my skin. And I, I'm good with aging. There is wisdom that comes with aging and I'm okay with the fine
05:10
lines and maybe not so fine lines and things that happen, but you know, I, if it can help literally
05:17
help restructure some of the matrix of my barrier and keep nourishing it, I am all for it in this aging
05:24
process.
