00:00Keir Starmer could recognize a Palestinian state this weekend, days after President Trump's UK visit.
00:06The British Prime Minister said he planned to take the step at the UN General Assembly in New York
00:12if Israel failed to meet a number of conditions to improve the humanitarian crisis.
00:18Other countries, including France, Australia and Canada, also planned to take this action.
00:23However, the US remains opposed to giving official recognition to the state.
00:30Shane, this is happening after President Donald Trump leaves the UK.
00:35That's something that was actually brought up in the press conference, wasn't it?
00:38Yeah, and even that moment you think like, oh, this is where the tensions are going to come in
00:43and maybe Trump's going to sort of like throw a sort of, you know, bomb right into the middle of things.
00:49But actually it was fine.
00:50The only thing I noticed, he said a couple of times, was that nothing is going to happen.
00:54He's not going to push back on Israel until all of the hostages are released.
00:58So I think that he's quite clear on that regard.
01:01But I don't think that's going to happen because, you know, Hamas is not going to give up its negotiation sort of tactic.
01:08But I don't think it's really going to change much because like you said in your intro,
01:13I think it's France, Canada, Belgium and Australia are also talking about doing this.
01:19And that has made no impact whatsoever.
01:20So I think the UK coming in and saying it is not going to have much impact either.
01:26I think at the end of the day, it's what the White House says that is going to be the determining factor in Israel.
