00:00Previously on Life After Lockup.
00:03Oh my God.
00:04Last time I lived with a woman was over 11 years ago.
00:06We gotta get going to the halfway house.
00:08This is a co-ed halfway house.
00:10There's all these bold ass bitches.
00:13I'm gonna walk you in there.
00:14I trust my husband.
00:16Them hoses.
00:17The issue.
00:19Courtney, what the is going on?
00:21I can chill.
00:22The plan was for Courtney to transfer her parole to Sacramento
00:25so that she can move in with me and we'd live together as husband and wife.
00:28Where are you?
00:29I just got out of jail.
00:30Who picked you up?
00:31Mark picked me up.
00:32Mark is my friend.
00:34To say he's my sugar daddy is kind of a label.
00:36Are you gonna give me money so I can get back on my feet?
00:39No!
00:40I was raised in the church.
00:42Troy was raised in the streets.
00:43Didn't marry while he was still incarcerated.
00:46We have some concerns.
00:47Are things different in Buffalo?
00:48I've got a daughter.
00:49You don't care about my anniversary, let alone yours.
00:53He's gonna wreck you.
00:54Zaria's just been trouble from day one.
00:56She's a psycho-cathetic ass bitch.
01:00Where's my daughter at?
01:01Now here, who is neglecting somebody from being with the kids?
01:04I had to slip.
01:06I had to drink.
01:07How'd you told me I'm good?
01:08I haven't told anybody.
01:09I got court tomorrow.
01:10If you fail to appear as required, a warrant will be issued for your rest.
01:13When I was on drugs, I used to shoplift.
01:16Still haunting me.
01:17I don't think he cares about the relationship, about me.
01:21Red flag.
01:22I'm on my way to court.
01:23I just want to be separate.
01:26I can go back to prison.
01:27We've been considering having another wedding.
01:31How much do you think we're gonna spend?
01:33$60,000.
01:34What about investing in the barbershop and using the profits to throw the big wedding?
01:39I'm not coming second to another business venture.
01:42Would you guys be willing to postpone the wedding?
01:45Yeah.
01:46I lost my job, and nobody knows that, including JK.
01:49You cannot say .
01:50Brooke came up here earlier.
01:52She's at work.
01:53Apparently not.
01:54How was your day?
01:55Just work.
01:56Why you ain't told me you lost your job?
01:58How am I supposed to have a kid with somebody who's lying about where she's at and what she's
02:02doing?
02:02It just made me think, like, what else is she lying about?
02:04Get the out of my eyes.
02:09I'm an entertainer, but I ain't no waker, nigga.
02:12If I elevate you, got the skills to make or break you.
02:15If we're going toe to toe, you better know it ain't for sure.
02:17So do it hard, speak the real.
02:19This ain't no fake, let's do it real.
02:20It's the risk we take.
02:22It's the life we choose.
02:25Jesus.
02:26It's the risk we take.
02:28Let's go.
02:28I have a few positive and a few negatives.
02:52Me and JK, we really wanted, you know, to have a baby together, but now, you know, it's
02:58a possibility that him and I aren't even going to be together.
03:01A week ago, me and JK got in a big argument and he kicked me out of his mom's house.
03:07I'm stressed the out to the max.
03:09I haven't talked to JK since he found out that I lost my job.
03:16Your call has been forwarded to voicemail.
03:18But it was just a white lie about not being at work.
03:22It's not like I was out running the streets or at my ex's house.
03:27Hi.
03:29Sup.
03:29Where have you been?
03:31In the bathroom.
03:33Bro, bro, Brantley, breakfast is ready.
03:36Hi, guys.
03:37This one's your Sprint.
03:41Have you heard from JK?
03:43I have not.
03:45Has he called your sex?
03:46Is your phone?
03:46No.
03:47Yeah.
03:47I don't know what he's got going on.
03:50I know where he's at.
03:51Where?
03:52Texas.
03:53Texas?
03:53So that is ex's.
03:55Oh, ex's.
03:56Probably.
03:57I thought he said in Texas.
03:58The boys have yet to hear from JK.
04:02It breaks my heart because he promised that he would never abandon the kids,
04:06no matter what happened between him and I.
04:09And, I mean, he's already doing that just because we got into an argument.
04:14I have too much pancakes.
04:16Do you want to go play your video game and take a break?
04:18Yes.
04:18Okay.
04:19Go play.
04:20Peace out, Boy Scout.
04:21This is.
04:22So, it really annoys me that he made all these promises to the boys and he's not keeping
04:29them.
04:30Really shows me what kind of person he is.
04:32Yeah, well, I guess we're really about to find out.
04:35Seems to me like we've already found out.
04:38You know when I just went to the bathroom?
04:39Mm-hmm.
04:40I took multiple pregnancy tests while we're in there.
04:47Four of them are positive and two of them are negative.
04:51Jesus Christ.
04:54So, I don't really know, like, what that means.
05:00Well, let's hope it means you're not pregnant.
05:03And I don't have a job.
05:07Really?
05:07What the f**k?
05:12I just don't understand what you're thinking.
05:16Between you and JK, if you are pregnant, this kid ain't got a chance in hell.
05:21Let me see your tests.
05:24The fact that they even let this happen blows my mind.
05:28You know, I asked her the other day if she was using protection.
05:30She told me she was.
05:32All she's done is lie.
05:34JK, I don't know.
05:35I think, like, he brings up the worst in her.
05:37So, why did you have six pregnancy tests in your damn purse?
05:42Because we've been trying to have a baby.
05:46I just didn't want to tell you because I knew this bull was going to f**king happen.
05:50I've already been listening to you, b**ch, about everything else under the sun.
05:54So, I just get tired of listening to it.
05:56Well.
05:57Like, again, I'm supposed to f**king say it over and over and over again.
06:00I'm supposed to be able to just come talk to you about stuff like you're my mom.
06:03So, yeah, that's my job.
06:05It's also a f**king job to tell you when you're f**king up.
06:08I mean, I don't know what you want me to do now.
06:11Like, what's done is done.
06:13I can't just take it back, put it in my pocket.
06:16You need to keep your mouth shut to him and everybody else until you have a positive blood
06:21test from the doctor.
06:22No, I'm going to go to him and I'm going to tell him, like, hey, this is what we've
06:26got, buddy.
06:27And I'm going to talk to him about having a f**king baby.
06:31You're a f**king idiot, I swear.
06:33Yep.
06:34Children.
06:36I got to go talk to JK.
06:39I love you.
06:40Bye, I love you.
06:41Being that they put the ankle monitor box at Kathy's house, he's got to be there.
06:47I honestly don't know how JK is going to react to a positive pregnancy test.
06:51It may be the last thing he wants to hear now, but I guess we'll just wing it.
07:14I just got here to the court for a shoplifting charge from six years ago.
07:19You know, the stakes are pretty high right now because I could be sent back to prison
07:22if the judge isn't happy with me.
07:26So let's go in there and find out.
07:28Stay tuned.
07:29All right, ladies, enjoy your day.
07:39Have a good day.
07:40Thanks for coming in.
07:41Bye.
07:45Hello.
07:47Yeah, I can hear you.
07:48No, he's not speaking to me, so I didn't know any of this.
07:54Daniel's parole officer calls me, and as far as I know, he's in Bullhead City for court.
08:00He's not communicating with me.
08:02I have no idea what's going on.
08:07Um, like, we were completely fine.
08:10And then it's just out of nowhere.
08:12It's just, like, train wreck.
08:14So I thought he had court.
08:17He's supposed to come back.
08:22Mm-hmm.
08:24Okay.
08:25All right.
08:26You too.
08:27Bye.
08:29Daniel's not coming back, so...
08:32I'm freaking out.
08:36Who's that?
08:37That was his P.O.
08:42He's not coming back.
08:43Um, at this point, I'm done.
08:46Please stop filming me.
08:47This is private, and I'm not trying to be rude to you.
08:49I know it's your job, but please...
08:52Just please stop.
08:53I'm just over...
08:55Can you get these go-pops out of my car, please?
09:01I don't want to film anymore.
09:03Can you at least tell me what happened?
09:05No.
09:12I know what I did, and I know I...
09:14Who's even with you right now?
09:16It doesn't matter who you're with.
09:18I got something to tell you.
09:20About what?
09:20My wife is not going to be happy with me.
09:23Walk out.
09:23That's fine.
09:25That's such a f***ing hype.
09:27Well, I'm not ready to spend money on a f***ing wedding.
09:29F***ing piece of f***.
09:30We are talking about $100,000 here, though.
09:45But I don't want it to come out of the wedding budget.
09:47Would you guys be willing to, like, postpone the wedding?
09:52Yeah.
09:54Me and my wedding will go elsewhere.
09:55That's rude as f***.
09:56Where are you going?
09:57I don't give a f***.
09:57What the f***ing f***ing thing?
09:58Come here.
09:59I don't want to cut my wedding for another business venture.
10:07I'll cut my wedding for the kids' school, and I'll cut my wedding for the things that
10:10have to do with the house, and I'll cut my wedding for things that have to do with the
10:12babies.
10:13I'm not cutting my wedding for f***ing Jay in a f***ing barbershop.
10:16Me investing and trying to create more opportunities to make money, I'd be able to give you a million
10:21dollar wedding.
10:22It's actually psychotic.
10:23How are you missing that, Justine?
10:24Because that's not even the f***ing truth, Mike.
10:26That's such a f***ing fight.
10:28You, like, make up new f***ing as you go along to, like, cover up whatever other f***ing
10:31you're talking about.
10:31That's such bull****.
10:32The way that Justine thinks about money puts a lot of pressure on me.
10:36Hey, man, if I was running the streets, that Montana Mills, I could have paid for the
10:41f***ing right now.
10:41No, it can.
10:42Huh.
10:43Easy to say from a f***ing mama's boy.
10:44I'm not a f***ing mama.
10:46Yes, you are.
10:47f***ing piece of f***ing.
10:49Now I'm hot.
10:51I'm not chasing you.
10:52This outburst is Justine's displaced anger about her not being able to have a relationship
10:58with her family.
10:59But don't take it out on me.
11:01I'm here by your side every day.
11:05I put up with everything.
11:06I put up with the family.
11:07I put up with the kids.
11:09I do the house.
11:10I do every business.
11:12I help him make 50 cents on every dollar that he has.
11:17And I don't have any control over what our money does.
11:20At this point, f***ing's off.
11:22I'm going to go be with our kids.
11:23One of us should.
11:24I'm going to handle business like I always do.
11:26I'm done here.
11:26I'm leaving.
11:27So do not follow me.
11:29F***ing f***ing.
11:30I'm at a new halfway house.
11:42And I'm not feeling too hot.
11:44All this fighting with Will is not helping.
11:47I get like no privacy here at this house.
11:50So like, I think I'm just going to take my laundry to my friends.
11:53Where the hell have you been?
12:17I haven't heard from you in days.
12:19I've been working and moving into a new halfway house.
12:23Days worth of stuff?
12:24I don't.
12:25Like, you left me here alone now.
12:27I have to, like, I don't have a car.
12:29I'm relying on everybody else to give me rides.
12:32Like, I have to get to and from work.
12:34And stuff.
12:35So like, I don't know what you expect.
12:38I can't just drop everything and go to Portland every time you get in jail.
12:41But that doesn't mean that we should just stop talking for days at a time, Courtney.
12:45That's not acceptable.
12:46If you're not going to support me and build me up and be who you're supposed to be for
12:50me, then you know what?
12:52Yeah, you deserve to not be talked to for a few days.
12:56Courtney's excuse of not calling or texting me because she's been busy is the biggest load
13:01of I've ever heard in my life.
13:02There's no way that she didn't pick up her phone in the last few days.
13:06She could have let me know.
13:08That's a garbage excuse and I'm not taking it.
13:11If that's how you're going to behave, if you're going to behave like a single person,
13:14you can be a single person.
13:15And you really think that's what I want?
13:17That's the way you've been behaving.
13:19It's like you're not even trying to understand.
13:21What the do you expect me to think?
13:23That's not how married people act.
13:25That's not the kind of relationship I want.
13:27You're in and out of jail.
13:29We don't talk.
13:31And then this Mark guy that's just here with you, apparently helping you.
13:35You're mad because somebody else is helping me, but you're not here to help each other.
13:39That's ironic.
13:40What the did you expect me to do?
13:42Not with one of your sugar daddies.
13:45I asked you for money the other day and you got mad at me.
13:48So then why are you stressed so hard off of me giving you money if you got a job right now?
13:51When I was flipping cars, I used to make five to ten grand a week.
14:03So I got a job in an auto shop.
14:07They said that they believe in second chances, and that's why they hired me with my Grand Theft Auto charges.
14:14But it's just not enough to support myself.
14:17Will promised me $1,000 a month allowance, and since he's left back to California, I've only seen $300.
14:26If Will don't send me any money, I know somebody else will.
14:32All you do is bitch at me and tell me how I'm up.
14:35It's not me for wanting the best for you, I guess.
14:38You're a choked, dude.
14:40First of all, you're not denying that this Mark guy is a sugar daddy.
14:43Are you high right now, dude?
14:46Mark is my friend who helps me out.
14:50If you want to put the label into the sugar daddy, don't...
14:54None of this is funny, Courtney.
14:56It's like you're just jealous because he's the one here providing for me, and you're not.
15:01The total amount of money I've spent on Courtney during this relationship,
15:05her phone, her clothes, her bag, her glasses, the ring, somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000.
15:13So I decided it was probably a better idea to just not give Courtney an allowance,
15:18because I don't feel like there's a reason I should be giving money to someone who doesn't communicate with me.
15:23And after Courtney was arrested for GHB, I made the right choice.
15:31Go date Mark then.
15:33I don't want to date Mark.
15:34Then what the f*** are we talking about right now?
15:37You're talking about me being jealous over some guy who can take care of you.
15:40They're calling him a sugar daddy.
15:42Because he clearly wants to f*** you, and all he's doing is spending money on you.
15:46That's the f***ing definition of a sugar daddy.
15:49F*** me?
15:50I wouldn't want to f*** me.
15:53You are the one calling him my sugar daddy.
15:55I am the one calling him my friend.
15:57And how the f*** am I supposed to believe that, Courtney?
16:00You so far have not given me a reason to trust you.
16:02You're making me feel like f*** about myself more so than I already do.
16:07This is what it sounds like when someone cares about you and you're f***ing up.
16:11And who's even with you right now?
16:16I'm by myself right now.
16:17It doesn't matter who you're with.
16:19Just saying.
16:24It's my mother calling.
16:26You're by yourself, you're with Zaria.
16:28Why?
16:29Because I don't want to hurt our little feelings.
16:32Don't worry about the relationship with my f***ing mom.
16:34At this point, there may not even be a wedding for them to come to.
16:37It's better to not be together.
16:41What are you doing here?
16:42Pregnancy test.
16:42Oh, Jesus.
16:43I told you, don't get the girl pregnant.
16:45You can't afford it.
16:55I'm in the outside the halfway house.
16:57They're definitely watching you.
16:58They got plenty of cameras everywhere.
17:00They even have, like, your cell phone, passcode, and whatnot.
17:03So, yeah.
17:04The food way better than the joint, I tell you that much, though.
17:14Hey, Arthur.
17:15Hello.
17:16How are you?
17:17Good.
17:17Good.
17:18Good to see you guys.
17:19This is my father-in-law.
17:21Nice to meet you, sir.
17:22Nice to meet you, too.
17:23Come on back.
17:23Yeah.
17:23So, what are we doing?
17:27Well, we have a whole situation with my husband's son.
17:32The state of Illinois, DCFS, has taken custody from the biological mother.
17:38So, we're just trying to get placement and custody.
17:42We got this court hearing, you know, in a few days.
17:44I just really wanted to kind of get more clarification so I can prepare Keith more.
17:49Okay.
17:50Keith has three biological children.
17:52And, you know, there was an alleged neglect with his son.
17:58So, Damari got picked up by DCFS.
18:02There's a criminal trial right now that Mari's mom's facing.
18:06Keith's always wanted Mari coming to stay with us.
18:10So, we have to fight as hard as we can.
18:14So, tell me how you ended up with the placement of the child.
18:18DCFS ended up contacting us.
18:20Contacted you and your wife.
18:21Have you considered seeking guardianship?
18:26No.
18:26I was in hopes that my son would be able to get custody of him.
18:29Get his custody back?
18:31And has he stayed in contact with his father over the years?
18:35Yes.
18:35Oh, yeah.
18:36Definitely.
18:36He's been visiting his dad and everything.
18:39Keith, he's been away from his son for some years now.
18:44So, they need to build a bond back up.
18:47Damari needs to really get to know his dad.
18:49And his dad really needs to get to know him.
18:53I've been in contact with the mother.
18:55And I already had custody signed over to me.
18:58Oh.
18:58Did you go to a courthouse and get it signed by a judge?
19:01No, I had it notarized.
19:03Okay, but that's not a...
19:04I didn't even get a chance to.
19:06You know what I'm saying?
19:06And they had already did their little sneak and said, oh, well, we've already revoked custody.
19:10So, then I had no say because I wasn't with Keith prior to his incarceration.
19:16We got married while he was incarcerated.
19:18So, I haven't technically built a married life to be able to even be legally like a stepmom, I guess.
19:25There's things you've got to understand.
19:27The law is written solely for the best interest of the child.
19:31And the fact that you happen to be a good mom doesn't change the fact that something bad can happen.
19:38And whether a judge feels safe putting the child there.
19:41So, it is very complex.
19:43It's sad that I can't control the situation.
19:48To know that it's in somebody else's hands, another agency's hands, that's the frustrating part.
19:53He's our son and he belongs to us.
19:56So, shouldn't nobody be able to interfere with that?
19:59I have a criminal case that I'm dealing with over in Iowa.
20:03It's a financial issue.
20:05And so, I just wanted to know if that would cause any type of issues with my husband getting custody of his son.
20:11Right now, I'm fighting a theft charge, dealing with a dispute with a client, with my tax and accounting business.
20:19It's ongoing right now.
20:22So, we will see what happens.
20:27Keith's circumstance have a bigger concern than somebody who's been dealing in a financial circumstance.
20:33Will it affect him getting custody of his son since he's been in prison for about a decade?
20:38Absolutely.
20:39And then the concerns about why he went to prison.
20:43His record's not bad.
20:44It's, you know, it's drugs.
20:46The problem is when there's drugs in the home, there's all kinds of issues of violence.
20:52There's issues of police raiding the home.
20:55Even if he's trying to turn his world around, he isn't going to be that person day one.
21:01And the judge is going to say he isn't that person day one.
21:05I mean, he really loves his children.
21:08So, he was just eager to get out and get custody of his son.
21:12I appreciate that, but his son wouldn't be in the predicament of being in foster placement had he not been in prison.
21:22Remember that Keith wasn't here when he was needed.
21:25And you could say all day long, yeah, he was incarcerated, but yeah, he was incarcerated.
21:32And so, from the eyes of the judge, which is, where was he?
21:36You're not home with your child.
21:38I'm fighting back tears because it's bull****.
21:43Me and Keith, we're not playing when it comes to Mari.
21:47You have to always be ready to fight, you know, because the world's going to always be against you.
22:01How do we wrap it right here?
22:03Tie it, then cut that piece off, and then tie it again and keep doing it.
22:08I don't need no apologies.
22:11Oopsies.
22:20Oh, great heavens.
22:22Great heavens?
22:23Arzai, are you helping out?
22:25Of course I am.
22:26Or are you just sitting on the floor?
22:28Mom, can you explain to your husband that I'm helping?
22:32Wow.
22:33Make sure you keep that same engine when you ask for a Lego set.
22:36Okay, chill, chill, chill, chill, chill.
22:39Being home feels so surreal because it's just like, damn.
22:43Seven months ago, I was in a cube, and everything that I'm living now was just like, it was just a thought in my mind.
22:51This is nice.
22:53Troy did what he said he was going to do.
22:55He asked to remarry me.
22:57What's going on?
22:58Oh!
23:02What do we have here?
23:05I've started a business doing waxing and buffing the floors.
23:09Because of it, we don't have any financial issues anymore.
23:13My kids can have what they want.
23:15My wife can have what she want.
23:17We're blessed.
23:18We're blessed.
23:19Mm-hmm.
23:21You know where I put the hooks at?
23:23No, baby.
23:25You hide stuff from yourself all the time.
23:27Don't do that.
23:28I mean, he's not wrong.
23:31Troy and I split rent payments on our beautiful new lake house.
23:36The kids have a huge backyard to play in, all this space, space for baby Troy when she comes.
23:43And it just feels like, I feel like a real adult now.
23:48What are you most excited about for Christmas time?
23:52Presents.
23:53I'm joking.
23:54Spending time with my family, and I'm hoping that your family and dad's family will come together.
23:59Your family and dad's.
24:01I mean, our.
24:03Our.
24:04Families.
24:04Both of our sides of the family.
24:07There you go.
24:08Who come together and give each other presents.
24:11Especially me.
24:13On these end of the fence, everybody love me.
24:18On my side of the fence, not so much.
24:22Currently, the most beef I have is with Karen.
24:25This little bit of nigga.
24:27I need to talk to her because some boy been up in here and him and her having an affair.
24:33He already know.
24:35You dumb.
24:36She's a psychopathic ass bitch.
24:40She's cut off.
24:41Oh, it's my mother calling me.
24:47Mm-hmm.
24:48Okay.
24:52Hello?
24:53Hey, Troy.
24:54What you doing?
24:55I'm not doing anything.
24:57Oh.
24:57Well, anyway, I got something to tell you.
25:00You by yourself, you with Zaria.
25:02Why?
25:03Because I don't want her to have a reaction because then that's going to have me have a reaction.
25:08And I don't want to hurt her little feelings.
25:11See?
25:11Here you go.
25:11You always being disrespectful.
25:13This is what I'm talking about.
25:14What is, what is, this is why I don't be wanting to talk to you.
25:16Troy, I just need to talk to you just about something.
25:19This is private.
25:20Listen, I don't got time for this.
25:21Don't call me.
25:23Screw you.
25:26Oh, my God.
25:30Karen, for you.
25:35Hey.
25:35Some family members are engaged differently from others.
25:41But I'm also hoping my sister will be there since I haven't seen her.
25:45I'm sorry to forget what her face looks like.
25:47All you got to do is look at me.
25:50You know who that is?
25:51My brother.
25:53Yeah, you finally get to meet him in person.
25:55I always wanted a big brother.
26:02My baby mother want me to spend time with my daughter.
26:04I understand that she want to just be me and Troy.
26:07Until me and you can build co-parents and stability, it can't be anybody else involved, Troy.
26:12Yes, you're her dad, but negative.
26:15But it's not just me and Troy.
26:16I have a family.
26:22Hello?
26:24Troy?
26:25Yes.
26:26What you doing?
26:28Decorating and setting up for Christmas.
26:29When he has an emergency, you got to hurry to get home.
26:32It's too much going on here.
26:33Too much going on about what?
26:36Vaughn is spiraling at his throat.
26:39I'm just really shaking up right now because Vaughn is calling me constantly.
26:44I just need you here.
26:46What are me coming down there going to do for Vaughn?
26:49I just think you being his older brother, he's going to listen to you more than he'll listen to me.
26:54My little brother is Vaughn.
26:57He's 26 years old.
26:59I don't want him to make the same mistakes that I made being in prison, in and out, my whole youth.
27:07I just feel like I just deserve to have, you know, my first Christmas being home.
27:13I got to just...
27:14I don't understand that.
27:15But you've been gone for seven years, so who else is there but me?
27:18We lost our brother, so who been doing it while you've been gone?
27:21Me.
27:22Who been taking us just like me?
27:23I understand it's your first Christmas, but you need to understand that this is a crisis and I need you home.
27:31On one hand, it's my first Christmas here with my family.
27:35And then on the other hand, it's like, damn, my little brother, he need me.
27:41I wasn't been able to be there for him.
27:45I don't know what I'm going to do.
27:50You okay?
27:51Yeah, I'm fine, baby.
27:53What's that he was talking about?
27:55My little brother.
27:57Hold on.
27:58Yeah.
27:58I don't know what's going on with him, so...
28:01What I do know is my wife is not going to be happy with me going to Buffalo.
28:10I'm just trying to enjoy myself, that's it.
28:12Did he just score some, like, fentanyl or heroin?
28:23Don't need to worry about it, all right?
28:26You know, we got a situation.
28:28Oh, Jesus.
28:29What do you want me to say?
28:30Yippee-ki-yay, we're going to have a baby?
28:32I just heard someone, so you're with somebody.
28:34You're all going to have a...
28:36I just heard you.
28:37Well, not anymore.
28:47He's not coming back.
28:48Um, at this point, I'm done.
28:50Can you tell me what happened?
28:53No!
29:08Let's turn on this light.
29:10Let's see if we can see.
29:11Get this one here.
29:16Hello?
29:16Let me tell you how poor it went.
29:21It went good.
29:22I have 80 hours of community service,
29:25and I am required to pay $50 for the restitution that I owe.
29:30Okay.
29:31I don't like you got restitution bitch bitch right now.
29:34I'm upset, and you know your PO called me.
29:39I'll leave you back tomorrow, okay?
29:44It's fine.
29:44I'm at a hotel.
29:45It's a long drive home, you know,
29:47and just got a little late.
29:48I'm just driving at night,
29:49so I decided to stay in the morning.
29:52I'm so fed up.
29:53I can't even hear it from Daniel himself
29:55that he's spending a night in a hotel.
29:58His parole officer has to call me.
30:00What did the PO say?
30:02She said she doesn't think it's safe for us to be living together,
30:07and she said she's probably going to pull you out of this living situation.
30:11That's why I'm freaking out.
30:13I guess he's telling his parole officer that I'm the problem,
30:16and he just needs to be away from me,
30:19which is shocking to me because, like, I'm doing no wrong.
30:25I don't even worry about it, all right?
30:27Yeah.
30:27I think it's f***ing.
30:31I think Daniel wants to go do whatever he wants to do and leave me in the dust.
30:36I'm going to come back tomorrow.
30:38I'll be back in the morning.
30:39All right.
30:39Okay.
30:43Okay, bye.
30:45He's just being really shady,
30:47and I just think it's really upsetting seeing this side of him.
30:51Normally, I would go drink, but I don't drink anymore.
30:55So I think that's also something that's really hard for me
30:58because that's how I cope with my feelings.
31:01Why are you telling your parole officer our business and, like, our life and our problems?
31:09And especially where he is right now,
31:10that's where he did a lot of crime and he got arrested,
31:14and then all of a sudden he got a hotel room.
31:18Did he just score some, like, fentanyl or heroin?
31:20It was like, actually, I'm going to stay here and just have a good night.
31:22I'm just, I don't have the energy to do anything.
31:28I just want to sleep.
31:34You're more of a woman than I could possibly ever imagine.
31:37Have you and Courtney been intimate?
31:38Do you want to know the truth?
31:41You know, we got a situation.
31:43You don't listen!
31:45This is the third time that JK hasn't done anything with what he learned in prison.
31:49We got to figure this up.
31:52That's my last night in the halfway house, man.
32:03I'm looking forward to see my wife soon as I get up out of here, you know what I'm saying?
32:06I know she's going to pull up.
32:07It's been a long-ass journey overall, you know?
32:10Here now, 11 years.
32:12Now is my time again, you know what I'm saying?
32:14Things are looking forward.
32:21Kira?
32:22Yeah?
32:23Daddy's coming home tomorrow!
32:26You excited?
32:28Mm-hmm.
32:28You're going to make him a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting.
32:32It's very overwhelming knowing that Keith's coming home tomorrow.
32:35Now he gets to see the real me.
32:37He gets to see how I move.
32:38I want to feed him so bad.
32:41I just want to cut his fucking fucking steak up and feed him.
32:45When he gets home, he's the boss of the house.
32:49He's the boss of the house.
32:49There you go.
32:50He gets to drive the car.
32:51He gets to drive the car.
32:53In the front seat.
32:55And he gets to tell us what our chores are.
32:57No, he don't tell me what my chores are.
32:59No, not yours.
33:00He'll tell you what your chores are.
33:01Not yours, because you don't do any chores until you're in.
33:05No, I still do chores.
33:06Yeah, I know.
33:07I'm super excited for my dad to come home.
33:11Oh, hi!
33:13He can take me to dinner and stuff, like restaurants, and he can take me to vacation.
33:19You just, like, really get to know him better.
33:21Where's Nana?
33:23Oh, your sister had to go to work.
33:25Oh, yeah.
33:26I know.
33:27It's weird, huh, that she's got a job now.
33:29Does my dad know that Kansas coming home for good tomorrow?
33:34Yep.
33:35She knows your dad is coming home.
33:37You mean our dad?
33:39That's not her dad.
33:40Oh.
33:40He's just a bonus daddy.
33:42So he's, like, her stepdad or something?
33:44Yeah, mm-hmm.
33:45And he's my real dad.
33:47He's not your biological dad, but, yeah, he is the man that takes care of you and loves you dearly.
33:53He's not my biological dad.
33:58I thought he was my biological.
34:00Mm-mm.
34:00Not your biological dad.
34:02Can I make a zero?
34:03Mm-hmm.
34:04Okay.
34:05We've got the butter, the oil, the sugar.
34:08We need the vanilla abstract.
34:10Kira's so ready to be a daddy's girl, but my oldest daughter is just, like, not with the
34:16she's older.
34:18She don't know this man, so she's protective.
34:21And then now having to deal with a custody hearing with his son and not knowing what's
34:27going on.
34:28If, God forbid, things don't work out, it'll be devastating.
34:34Did I not put no damn baking powder in here?
34:36I don't think so.
34:37Oh, my God.
34:37I messed up this whole recipe.
34:44Mickey and I got into a fight.
34:46I'm super annoyed.
34:48He's not in bed with me.
34:50And I'm okay with that.
34:53I just hate the s***, man.
34:55What's going on?
35:06Justine upset me.
35:07She called me a mama's boy, and I don't want to argue.
35:10I feel like I've been fighting and arguing my whole life, and finally I have something
35:13so precious.
35:14But it's like, I felt like if I went up there, she was just not going to want to talk to me,
35:20and it was just going to make me feel worse.
35:22At this point, Michael, I think that all of you guys need counselor.
35:26I'm being serious, especially Justine.
35:30Michael and Justine's relationship is like a roller coaster.
35:36Crazy love.
35:38Sometimes they don't see eye to eye, you know?
35:40For the sake of the two of them, they should work out, whatever.
35:44And by the way, my son is a mama's boy.
35:47He is.
35:48Everybody knows that.
35:52I missed you last night.
35:59You missed me last night?
36:00I did.
36:01I don't like the way you talked to me.
36:04You were just like, oh yeah, we can put the wedding on hold.
36:07It just reminds me of all the things that I've put on hold willingly with no issue.
36:12It's like, oh yeah, I wouldn't mind doing that.
36:13It's like, yo, how are you always so gun-ho to put important things of ours on the back burner?
36:20That doesn't even make sense.
36:22It's not that I like to put the things that pertain to us on hold.
36:26It's that I feel like we have to constantly sacrifice.
36:29When have I ever told you no?
36:31When do I ever tell you no?
36:32We're partners on everything, so why would you ever have to tell me no?
36:35But that's my point.
36:37I can disagree with something.
36:38You can, but like...
36:39But I never do.
36:45I mean, enough or nothing, bringing up my family, like trying to use that against me?
36:49Out of line.
36:52You don't know about me and my family and our dynamic and why, okay?
36:56The complicated relationship I have with my mom, it's always been hard.
37:01You got seven kids, and now you have a new baby coming into the picture?
37:06The plan is to just leave it in God's hands.
37:08Leave it in God's hands, huh?
37:10What the f***?
37:11I'm going to be having another baby.
37:13Nine kids.
37:14What the f*** happened?
37:15I wish that I could have a relationship like Mike and his mother, but I've learned to accept our relationship for how it is, even though it's not exactly what I would want it to be.
37:29Whatever I go on with my family over here, you don't have to be worried about it.
37:32Don't project that I'll tell our relationship either.
37:36And at this point, there may not even be a wedding for them to come to.
37:41I mean, we're already one step there.
37:43Yeah, I crashed on the couch because I didn't want to start any issues up there.
37:49Once I got up there, I was going to want to touch you, I was going to want to hug you, I was going to want to kiss you.
37:52Of course, you were going to want whatever it is that you wanted, and you were going to totally ignore the fact that I was upset.
37:56You were going to then tell me, once I started telling you how I feel, you're going to roll over, do what you do, we're done talking, and make sure that the conversation and everything is in your control.
38:04I know what you're going to do.
38:06So it's better that you fluffed your pillow down here.
38:09I didn't come down and get you.
38:13Why do you have your bag?
38:16So you're just X-ing me out?
38:19This is not a good sign to where our relationship is supposed to be heading.
38:23You're not a wife.
38:26that.
38:27I've been up all night.
38:44Just thinking.
38:45I tried to call my little brother, tried to see if I could talk to him, get no answer.
39:04I don't know what's going on with him.
39:08My little brother, like, he feel like I haven't been there for him.
39:12I was incarcerated.
39:14Our mother had us separated growing up.
39:16He lived with his aunt.
39:17I live with my aunt.
39:20It's my chance to be there for him.
39:21Troy.
39:23Yes.
39:24We only got two eggs.
39:25Is it okay if I have the eggs?
39:27You can have whatever you want.
39:30Why do you have your bags?
39:32I'm going to go take care of family business, and I'm coming back home.
39:39Are you about to go see baby Troy?
39:41I was trying to see her while I'm there just as well.
39:43Okay, so if you're trying to see her, I want to come.
39:45I want to be able to talk to Yana, so then that way we could at least try to move forward.
39:50All right, well, first I'm going for my little brother.
39:53I'm trying to see what's going on with him.
39:55Let me talk to him first, and then we can go from there.
39:59All right, Troy.
40:02Two days.
40:05Clearly you have your mind made up, so it's no point in me going back and forth with you.
40:13Troy's family needs him.
40:15Like, I get that.
40:16I understand that.
40:20But communication is key in our relationship, and I feel as though when you're not communicating,
40:25it's another form of dishonesty.
40:29And food good.
40:30Choke on it, then.
40:32Excuse me?
40:34Just stop talking.
40:36No.
40:37You're just going about this the wrong way.
40:40I'm not the one that actually went.
40:42Just be supportive.
40:42Just say okay, and I'll see you when you get back.
40:45That's all you got to say.
40:46We're not going back and forth about this.
40:50I said what I said.
40:51You just said.
40:52I said what I said.
40:53I said what I said.
40:54I said what I said.
40:55What's the issue?
40:57I'm coming right back.
40:58The fact that you're not including me right now?
41:01I're included.
41:02How?
41:02I told you that I'm going and I'm coming back.
41:04I'm not involving you and I don't know what's going on.
41:08So I'm not going to bring you there if I don't know what's going on.
41:10Clearly you knew what's going on because you had your bags packed.
41:14Yes, to just go.
41:15I don't know what's going on yet.
41:16I didn't hear you talking to anybody this morning.
41:19So last night when you took your phone call and you came back in like everything was fine
41:24and I asked you what the matter was and you said no, is that or is that not lying?
41:30No, I'm lying.
41:31Lord Jesus.
41:32How are you withholding the truth?
41:34I'm getting ready to go.
41:36I said what I said.
41:37And you're walking out as always, running, running, running away, walking.
41:42What, you going to walk to Buffalo?
41:52Daniel did not come home.
41:54Yeah, I'm starting to get really nervous.
41:57Hey.
41:59We've got an issue.
42:00I cannot even believe this shit seriously happened.
42:02You don't listen!
42:07Just another day in the light.
42:08Look at me, you see the lies of nature divide.
42:10No matter what, we're going to be celebrating tonight.
42:13This part the out of my neck.
42:16It's a celebration.
42:19Can we celebrate?
42:20I get finished getting ready in the car.
42:23Feeling like a little girl all over again.
42:24I'm like, oh my God, I'm going to pick my man up.
42:26You know?
42:27Boom, boom, boom.
42:28Let's go, let's go, let's go.
42:32All right, I still got to put my lashes and stuff on.
42:34You want to do that right now?
42:37I want to do it before I get to him, yeah.
42:40All right, Kara.
42:41Love you, baby.
42:42Bye.
42:43Bye, baby.
42:44Have a good day at school.
42:45Hey, babe.
42:51Oh my God, happy release day again.
42:55Yeah, I'm on my way.
42:59It just feels so good being able to pick you up
43:01and to know that we're never going back.
43:04You get to be with me all day long.
43:08You really do.
43:14Sorry.
43:16Oh my God.
43:21Hey, baby.
43:25Welcome home.
43:29We're leaving, babe.
43:30Some of your family's already there.
43:35Oh, you look real good.
43:38All right, fair for a square.
43:43It feels good to finally be able to be out here.
43:46Yeah.
43:49Being able to finally be free.
43:51Just to be able to feel the journey with her on the outside.
43:56My man looks damn good.
43:57In the real world, behind bar, all of it.
44:00But at least out here, I get to get a bite.
44:05What's over here?
44:06Hi, everybody.
44:09It's good to have a family together.
44:11So, where's everybody's glasses?
44:13Because here's...
44:16I need a glass.
44:18You should have been outside.
44:21Hello.
44:22Welcome to the tree.
44:23Oh, my goodness.
44:25How are you feeling?
44:26I'm all right.
44:26How are you doing?
44:27Keith is my stepson that I raised.
44:29So happy you're looking here.
44:32Going in and out of jail is hurtful.
44:34You know?
44:35I just wish better life for him.
44:37That's the goal, is to stay out of jail.
44:41All the grandkids, the nephew, your niece and nephew,
44:44they look up to you.
44:44They're happy to see you home.
44:46Yeah.
44:46Y'all have to show them a better way.
44:49And I'm going to put that on y'all.
44:50Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
44:51Show them a better way because they looking up to y'all.
44:53You know what I'm saying?
44:54Yeah.
44:55And what they can be able to learn from my mistakes.
44:57And I can be able to put my story and my life out there, my struggles, and then see if I can change.
45:03Anybody can change.
45:04You know what I'm saying?
45:04We definitely have experience with losing family to the system.
45:10It's very normal where I'm from, just being able to see people go in and out of prison, man.
45:15The court ended up giving my brother a little bit over 13 years.
45:18My dad, he has been incarcerated too.
45:22It's just a whole dark cloud from where we from.
45:24Actually, I got to go to court tomorrow in order to pre-trial to try to get my son back.
45:30Yeah.
45:31What I noticed is once things is about to get good, a lot of stuff pops up, you know?
45:38It happened, what, a couple of weeks right before I came home?
45:41Yeah, so the whole DCFS situation happened with his son, Damari.
45:46Whatever hurdles I got to go through, I'm going to do it to make sure I'll be able to get Damari.
45:52Can't nothing keep us from him.
45:54Like, we're coming to get you, baby.
45:58My dad, he has him right now, but at the same time, I've been putting forth the effort, trying to be able to get him.
46:04Yeah.
46:05I've been doing everything I've been putting my mind to, so I've been executing, you know?
46:09Yeah, dad.
46:09It really feels good to be doing things the right way.
46:13And when he spoke that, I'm like, yeah, he grew.
46:16Now that I'm all the way free, getting custody of Damari is my number one priority.
46:21He shouldn't have to go through what he's been through.
46:24My job is to be able to protect him and make sure that he's home and a stable household.
46:28That's what it's going to be.
46:31Like, if you speak it into existence, it's going to happen.
46:41I stayed in Bullhead last night after court.
46:44Bianca tried calling me.
46:48I don't even want to talk to her, man.
46:49I just want to enjoy my time out here.
46:51I got a long drive ahead of me.
46:53I'm not looking forward to seeing her.
46:55Uh, I think it's going to get messy.
47:08I don't have space for any of this.
47:10We don't have furniture that he was supposed to help set up with me.
47:14Daniel did not come home yesterday.
47:17We got in a really big argument and he's not communicating with me whatsoever.
47:23And I'm starting to get really nervous.
47:28Oh, no.
47:29Because now he has all this freedom.
47:36He has a car.
47:38He can go do whatever he wants.
47:40And that's just a really scary thing, not knowing what is going on in his mind.
47:46All right.
47:46We need to pause for a second.
47:48Because I'm bleeding and this is not good.
47:56I don't have any band-aids.
47:59Love that.
48:00Things are chaotic.
48:02Like, I wish he would just be here to help me.
48:04Like, he knows we just moved in and there's a bunch of we have to do.
48:08And now I'm cutting myself on accident because I'm just stressed the out.
48:12Traffic, man.
48:15Jesus.
48:16Jesus.
48:18Bianca loves to flood me with text messages and calls to just kind of keep up.
48:28Like, the FBI, like, where am I at?
48:29What is he doing?
48:30That's a lot of pressure.
48:31Like, I don't like how that makes me feel.
48:34I just want space.
48:40Hey, what's up, bro?
48:41I'm driving now.
48:42Just getting back into Scottsdale.
48:45Big fight with Bianca again.
48:47See the call?
48:47No.
48:50Come meet us at the bar.
48:51All right.
48:53I'll see you later.
48:53All right, bye.
48:57I know that after my relapse, maybe going to a bar isn't good for me.
49:01But after going to court, you know, I'm just so relieved.
49:06No judge.
49:07No jail.
49:09Community service.
49:10I just want to spend some time with my friends.
49:12I feel like I need to celebrate.
49:21Hey.
49:22What's up?
49:23What's going on, my boys?
49:25What's up?
49:25Long Island.
49:27Oh, Long Island.
49:27Well, I haven't had a Long Island since I was in New York.
49:31It's about time, bro.
49:32Yeah.
49:32It's about time.
49:33Today's the day.
49:35I was just telling him, man.
49:36Oh, you're catching the boys up?
49:37Yeah.
49:38Yeah.
49:38So apparently he's being drugged down a little bit, but he's got some extra baggage.
49:43For Bianca, it all boils down to me not giving her enough attention, and I'm not going to
49:48give any of that.
49:49So she's upset, and she thinks I don't care about her feelings.
49:52I do care about her feelings so much that I want her to be an independent person, and
49:56that's why I'm doing these things.
49:58But she won't see it that way.
50:00The GPS location became a thing.
50:03Now she's following me on my location.
50:04Do you have to share a location?
50:05I don't have to, but I'm like so annoyed that I'm like, here, have it, dude.
50:10I'm so annoyed.
50:11Shut up.
50:11Here.
50:15Oh, it's just Bianca.
50:16Now, go ahead.
50:17You're not going to answer?
50:18Just hit decline.
50:19Just let her ring, man.
50:20Just let her ring.
50:20Just let her ring.
50:21You need to get her off your case.
50:23Girl, get a hobby.
50:25What?
50:26You know, we're in love.
50:27We're together.
50:28But I feel overwhelmed from this codependency because it's like I'm all she has.
50:33Don't look at it.
50:34Just don't even think about it.
50:35Kitty.
50:35There you go.
50:36I just want my freedom.
50:38And I'm not a babysitter.
50:44And I don't need a babysitter.
50:47Where's the waiter?
50:49I need a drink.
50:50I need a drink.
50:53What are you doing here?
50:54Pregnancy test.
50:56I cannot even believe this is happening right now.
50:58This is serious.
50:59I'm definitely nervous, too.
51:00My parents are probably not going to go well.
51:03She bought you rubbers.
51:05Not to put on the Christmas tree.
51:07I'm not going to be perfect.
51:09Nobody's asking you to be perfect.
51:10I'm just asking you to stay out of jail.
51:12What did you expect when you went to a prison looking for a girlfriend?
51:15With the store?
51:17Have you and Courtney been intimate?
51:19Do you want to know the truth?
51:20Mom, you're pregnant?
51:26Mom, you're pregnant?
51:39However you want to handle that, you do that.
51:42It's your mom.
51:42I can't deal with this now, bro.
51:47I'm definitely nervous to tell my parents about this.
51:51You think I can holler at y'all in the room real quick?
51:54Uh-huh.
51:55Mama's been on my neck about these condoms, about not having a kid.
51:58So it's probably not going to go well.
52:01Well, you know, like, if I need help, of course I'm going to ask for it.
52:04I need some advice right now.
52:05Like, what is my next step to do?
52:08What's up?
52:09Man, uh, you know, we got a situation.
52:15She took some pregnancy tests.
52:17Oh, Jesus.
52:18Help me, Lord.
52:20Some of them are positive, some of them are negative.
52:22So it's like, Mama, you all right?
52:25No, I'm not.
52:27She bought you rubbers to use,
52:30not to put on decorations for the Christmas tree.
52:34Y'all ain't being very much help right now.
52:36What do you want me to say?
52:39Yippee-ki-yay, we're going to have a baby?
52:42I mean, that would be nice.
52:45This is your baby's baby.
52:47Why are you not excited about it?
52:50We already are aware
52:51that we don't have this whole life figured out,
52:54but do you not think your son's going to be a good dad?
52:57I know I'm a damn good mother,
52:59so what's the problem?
53:00I told you, don't get her pregnant right away.
53:06You don't f***ing f***ing f***ing!
53:10I told you numerous times,
53:12don't get the girl pregnant, you can't afford it!
53:14You two have got to figure out what you're going to do.
53:19Because all this fussing and fighting every day,
53:21and now you're possibly pregnant?
53:23it. Calm down. Y'all got to figure it out. If you're going to be together, if you're not
53:30going to be together. Don't come to us for money. We done told you. I'm going to have
53:36it figured out, man. I'm going to have it figured out. This is good. You got to figure
53:40it. Go ahead. And while you're in prison, what did you tell me? I learned to listen.
53:45Apparently not. This is the third time he's gotten out of prison. And this is the third
53:51time that J.K. hasn't done anything with what he learned in prison. At least so far. Maybe
53:56he'll get a friggin' brain cell to take care of the child. He needs something. I ain't got
54:02time for this crap. Bull . Well, that went . I want to be a part of my child's life. I want
54:12to raise my child. I don't want to be no . We'll have to figure out the money and all
54:19that and then go from there, I guess. If Brooke is pregnant with my child, that's a
54:26blessing. That's all I can ask for. But at the same time, all the fighting, the trust
54:31issues, the insecurities, it's like, come on, bro. If you sit back and think about it, like,
54:37are we in a real good spot to bring a child into this world? Okay. Well, I guess. I don't
54:47know. We'll figure it out. Okay.
54:49like, I would never treat you like this if you were down. Who's even with you right now? I'm
55:10by myself right now. Doesn't matter who you're with. I just heard someone. So you're with
55:20somebody. Come on, dude. I don't know how we fix this. I don't know where we go from
55:25here. Nobody's asking you to be perfect all the time. I'm just asking you to stay in jail
55:42for longer than a couple of weeks. Here's the problem. You don't understand what it's
55:48like to get out of prison, to learn to live a different life, to learn to act a different
55:55way, and the struggles that comes with it. Adjusting to life outside of prison hasn't
56:03been exactly easy. You're not giving me any words of encouragement telling me I can get
56:08through this or we can get through this. Out here, it's like you have real life problems.
56:13Let's say your bills or something happens to your car. In there, you have problems like,
56:21oh, you can't sit at my table. It's a lot harder for sure. All you do is literally bitch
56:29at me, bitch at me and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I feel like Will is like constantly like,
56:36instead of pushing me to be a better version of myself, it's like more of like he's like nagging at me
56:42because I'm not perfect enough for him. It adds a lot of stress on my life. Like what did you expect
56:49when you went to a prison looking for girlfriends? Like, did you expect to start the store?
56:54Well, not anymore.
57:01Like, I know what I did and I know I up, but we're supposed to be able to make it through anything
57:09and you like one time and you already like are bouncing. Like what the dude?
57:16Here's the thing. You're not a wife. You're not a wife and we're breaking up. That's it. No, I don't care.
57:24I'm not going to listen to you. I don't care. Hang up. You're not a wife. We're breaking up.
57:31F*** that. Come here. We're good. We're going to do all right. We'll get through this.
57:41He didn't even give us a chance. Like, the point of being married to somebody is that you learn and you grow with them.
58:09I love him, you know, and I want this with him over everything else.
58:21Hi. I just can't believe that everything happened how it did.
58:28I don't know. I just think that finding somebody in prison isn't the right place.
58:33You're more of a woman than I could possibly ever imagine.
58:37You have so much ability and life ahead of you. Look at me for a second. You can be okay.
58:46Have you and Courtney been intimate?
58:49Do you want to know the truth or not the truth?
58:52He's not the one. He really isn't. She's a very loyal woman. I do know that. But, you know, we're in Sacramento. I'm here in Portland.
59:03Hey. Stop crying about him. I can't say that there hasn't been a couple of hot moments. You know. We've had our fun.
59:12Thanks for the pep talk. That's what I'm always here for. Thank you. I know Mark is, like, clearly into me, but...
59:22But...
59:23Yeah. That just would... It can never happen. So...
59:29Ha ha ha ha ha.
