Batangas 1st district Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon agree that the unit cost of overpriced infrastructure projects of the agency should be slashed by at least 10 percent. (Video courtesy of House of Representatives)
00:26May I ask Mr. Chair the opinion about lowering the Dupa so that we can fund more projects within the same budget?
00:36Yes, in fact, nag-usap po kami ni former Secretary Singson at I agree with him.
00:41And isa yun sa mga plano natin gawin in the coming weeks and the coming months na gawa ng para na ibaba po ang Dupa.
00:48Hindi lang nationwide, no?
00:51Kaya ganan pong i-review natin ang maigi at with the end goal of bringing it down in order to be more efficient in the utilization of the budget.
00:59Do you have an idea, Mr. Chair, if at least 10% can be achieved?
01:05Yun po ang sinabi ni Secretary Singson and I would tend to agree with him that at least 10% po ay kaya pong ibaba yan across the board.
01:12That would be fantastic, Mr. Chair.
01:14So if there's at least 10% savings on 620 or 880, then there could be an additional 62 to 88B of savings that could go either to more projects or help close the deficit.
01:28Maybe the Appropriations Committee could consider what we can do then if there's the possibility for at least that 10% savings.
