00:00Hello and welcome to this South Australian Jane's weather update for Friday.
00:04We have a trough that is moving across the northeast.
00:07The northeast in parts is seeing light and patchy rain from that one, but not in the southeast.
00:12In fact, the sky is quite clear.
00:13That is going to change as a cold front that is crossing the Bight on Friday,
00:17all that speckled cold air in behind it is going to zoom up into the southeast
00:21and deliver a wet end to the day.
00:24So what is that going to look like?
00:25By the end of Friday, here it is crossing the southeast,
00:28snowing under 1,500 metres, about here.
00:31So that's how chilly the air is.
00:33There's our light and patchy rain crossing the northern part through there.
00:37There's a gap in the middle, and then here is the cold outbreak
00:39with the burst of showers that comes in.
00:42So that's on Friday for Adelaide.
00:43It's maybe 2 to 5, 1 to 2 millimetres as it moves through.
00:47Into Saturday, there is the remains of that heading in.
00:50All of that has cleared out of the northeast,
00:52so there's nothing more that has moved into Queensland and New South Wales.
00:55So the southeast has the dribs and drabs left over from that cold outbreak
00:59moving through from the cold front.
01:01There is another one because the next high-pressure system all the way back over here,
01:04still in Western Australia.
01:06So on Sunday, here's the next one coming in.
01:09It is going across Victoria and Tasmania.
01:11We're going to clip the southeastern parts of South Australia in through here.
01:15So no heavy falls with it, a burst of cold air as it comes in.
01:19So that's Sunday into Monday is the next one moving through.
01:23High pressure back in through here, so we're still on the cool side of that.
01:27We need that to move out to the east before it warms up.
01:29So there's Monday into Tuesday.
01:31There's just very leftover, very light, hardly anything in the southeast.
01:35High still back in through here, so not thawing out completely yet.
01:39Into Wednesday, high pressure up and about through here.
01:42It is not moving very quickly at all.
01:45Might let another cold outbreak move across the southeast later on in the week.
01:49But by Thursday, likely to be up and through here, so things can start to thaw out.
01:53And then Friday, next Friday, maybe out to the east there, but potential for another cold
01:59outbreak in the southeast, which will do very interesting things for the grand final when
02:03it moves through.
02:03So hardly any wet weather for us as it comes in, though.
02:06Let's have a look at what that adds up to.
02:08So the majority of that is likely to be the first part Friday into Saturday.
02:12And then Sunday to Monday, we get a little bit more just in that southeast corner.
02:15This here doesn't add up to a lot, 1 to 5 millimetres, hardly anything in between.
02:20This is the southeastern part, 15 to 25 in that far southeastern corner and steadily
02:25decreasing as you move through because the fronts are peaking in the southeast, not over
02:30us here.
02:31What does that mean for Adelaide?
02:32Today, rain at times during the afternoon into the evening about 18, adding up to 3 millimetres.
02:37So there's a burst of wet weather that comes through.
02:40On Saturday, it's leftovers, a millimetre.
02:42So we go from 18 down to 14, back up to 16 on Sunday before the next one comes in, 2
02:48and a half millimetres as it moves across.
02:50Pretty much dry by Monday and staying that way next week.
02:53Temperatures in the mid-teens, the high hasn't moved in yet.
02:57We need that high to move in before it can start to thaw out and the chilly nights that
03:01go with that particular on Tuesday morning.
03:03But at the end of next week, that is when we might see that high move and the temperature
03:07in the afternoon start to move upwards.
