00:00Hello and welcome to this South Australian Jane's Weather Update for Monday.
00:04There is a cold front to this movie across the southern parts of Tasmania.
00:07Otherwise, we do have a south-westerly airflow that is keeping it on the cooler side,
00:12but nothing like the cold outbreak we saw last week.
00:15There's a bit of clouds, there's a little bit of very light wet weather
00:18that is still to come over the next couple of days.
00:20But I want to direct your attention to that south-west corner there.
00:23That is our next cold outbreak.
00:25Yes, it is the first week of September.
00:27Yes, it is the first week of spring.
00:28But if the weather pattern allows it, then yes, we're going to get some cold air that does come up.
00:33Let's have a look at day by day what to expect here.
00:35By the end of today, high pressure is here.
00:38So I've just got this very light wet weather across the south-east corner.
00:41Into Tuesday, very south-eastern corner is what is left over there.
00:45Here is the next cold outbreak that is moving across the Bight,
00:48but I'll show you this very large area of high pressure that covers all of these parts here.
00:53That means that this one cannot extend as far inland as the last one did,
00:57but if you're near the coast, yes, you are going to feel it.
01:00So there's Tuesday.
01:02Let's now move into Wednesday.
01:04Here's our cold air.
01:05Snow down to 1,500 metres here.
01:07So not the bitterly cold air that we saw up on the Adelaide Hills
01:10as we went through the later part of last week.
01:12This one, yes, it's a cold outbreak, but it doesn't have quite the teeth of the last one,
01:16especially not for us, but for Tasmania, yes, it does.
01:19OK, so there's Wednesday.
01:20And into Thursday, there's the last of it for us.
01:22And then it's clearing away from the south-east.
01:25There is high pressure as we move through Thursday.
01:27Here is the next weather system that is developing.
01:30So by the end of Thursday, that is starting to come in from the west.
01:33Into Friday, high pressure is out to the east.
01:35It says no.
01:36It acts like a stop sign.
01:38And so this one is just going to fall on southward.
01:40So we're not going to see very much from that as it moves across Saturday.
01:44Instead, we've got these northerly winds,
01:46thanks to high pressure that is out to the east there.
01:48So we're warming up.
01:49Have a look at this.
01:50We use these, the coloured lines here, to work out how cold the air is,
01:54but also to work out how warm the air is.
01:56When that red line comes down to us in the middle of summer,
01:59that's a 40-degree day.
02:00So that's an idea of just the warmth that we're going to see
02:03out ahead of this next weather system.
02:05OK, next weather system.
02:06Let's bring that in from the west there.
02:09Here we have during the day on Saturday.
02:11Into Sunday, really starting to get going.
02:13You're starting to see a connection to tropical moisture.
02:16Still all of that warm air out ahead of this before it comes through.
02:19So here we have the end of Sunday into Monday.
02:22Lovely connection.
02:23But that connection doesn't happen until it is moved across
02:26the vast majority of South Australia.
02:28So this may be an inland one rather than these parts in through here.
02:32There's Monday and then Tuesday.
02:34That's the next potential for widespread wet weather,
02:37not just at the coast, but well inland, well west of the ranges.
02:41We might be able to pick up some of that
02:43if that connection happens before it moves too far over to the east.
02:46All right, let's have a look at the totals.
02:49So this doesn't include next Tuesday.
02:50It's a full week away.
02:51So it's still not high confidence in that happening just yet.
02:56But the systems that are coming through, the one that slid,
02:58the one that just clicked the coast, this one as it came in,
03:01it's really not going to add up to a whole lot.
03:03So we saw some big wet weather last week.
03:05We saw some big cold outbreak last week.
03:07We get a bit of a cold outbreak and we get a bit of wet weather
03:10as this comes through, 15 to 25.
03:12In through here, 5 to 10 millimetres.
03:14Then the potential for more as we move into Tuesday,
03:17depending where that connection actually is.
03:20All right, for Adelaide.
03:21Today, 15, a fair bit of cloud that is still overhead.
03:24It's not going to add up to much.
03:26There are some light showers tending to just a light spit of rain,
03:29patchy rain coming in.
03:30Tomorrow, back up to 18.
03:32Lovely.
03:32Then we take a little bit of a dip.
03:3416 as we're going to Wednesday.
03:35That's when we might get a bit of wet weather.
03:37But again, doesn't add up to much.
03:39Partly cloudy again on Thursday,
03:40just the odd bit of wet weather coming through.
03:42On Friday, 16, Saturday, 22.
03:45So there's our jump up in temperature as that high moves out to the east
03:49and that cold outbreak disappears.
03:51So we don't get a lot of wet weather from us.
03:52We don't get the absolutely freezing temperatures.
03:55And then we warm up as we move into the start of next weekend.
03:58How long does it last?
03:59For the weekend, there's a big change on Sunday
04:01as that next system comes across.
04:03And then there may be a decrease in temperatures.
04:06We're unsure what's happening in terms of
04:08when does the cold air come into this one?
04:10Is it Tuesday?
04:11Is it beyond that?
04:12Because that's when the colder air is going to arrive.
04:15Are we going to see a lot of wet weather from that one
04:17as it comes through?
04:18That is something certainly to watch.
04:20And as always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
