00:11Azmi Hassan of Academy News Antara said the Klang Valley, with its dense population,

00:16is deserving of more seats. He warned that Sarawak's claim to more seats under the

00:21Malaysia Agreement 1963 rather than population size could spark discontent in the peninsula.

00:26Azmi said political parties in peninsular Malaysia would demand the same number of additional seats

00:32if Sarawak's allocation increased. Azmi compared this to the U.S., where Republicans added seats in

00:38Texas, and Democrats pushed for the same in California to dominate Congress. Meanwhile,

00:44British chairman Faisal Abdulaziz said reviews of seat allocations must uphold the one-person,

00:49one-vote principle, warning against unfair imbalances if East Malaysia were given one-third of G1 Rakyat

00:54seats. He suggested Sabah and Sarawak's concerns could instead be addressed by granting them one-third

01:00of Dewan Nagara's seats, adding that the Opera House has the power to block any amendments to the

01:05Constitution. Last week, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim agreed in principle to consider increasing the

01:11number of parliamentary seats in Sabah and Sarawak, according to Deputy Prime Minister Fadila Yusof.
