00:00now it's the sit down with Patrick J. Adams. Hey, Patrick. Okay, so Wayward, the new limited Netflix thriller premiering on September 25th. In addition to you, the cast includes May Martin, who created the series, and Tony Collette. Were you keen to work with either of them in particular, or was the script just that juicy? Yeah, no doubt. No, it was long before I read the script. May and I have actually been friends off and on for like 20 years when May called and asked if I'd be
00:29interested in coming and playing this very small sort of creepy youth pastor type guy. No, I did not need to read the script. I was like, absolutely, let's go. Switching gears, in honor of you and your wife, Troy, and being together for 10 years next year, please tell us you have a project starring both of you in the works together. It would heal us as a society. I have no doubt we will work together again. I'd love to be directed by her. She's a fantastic director. So, you know, to be in one of her things would be probably my next
00:59goal to work with each other in that way. Yeah, we're also, we're open to it, but we're also hard on each other on set. You know, in this business, we still have to make tapes, right? We make tapes all the time for, for jobs. And so in that regard, we are working together. And I will say it doesn't always go great.
01:16You first, where do you go? NYU. Columbia.
01:20What is the most special thing about being a girl dad? Aurora and Elliot are so cute.
01:25That is a hard question. There's too many good parts. I was scared to have a boy because the idea of, I don't know, just raising a man in the world sounds like a daunting prospect. And I guess one of the beautiful things thus far, I think life is going to change and kids get older. But like, I feel like it is primarily my job at this moment to just like love these little girls more than anything in the world.
01:55Right. And, and, and be there for them and be strong for them. And, you know, that it feels uncomplicated in that way. Obviously being a parent is complicated, but, um, it's the, the, the purity of like purpose.
02:09We recently caught up on season two of With Love, Megan. If you and Troyan were on it for season three, what would the theme be? What about a photography tutorial?
02:18Oh, that's cool. No, I never thought about that. Yeah. Something with photography. That'd be cool. Go up and start shooting the food. Maybe shoot it. Just shoot up there. It's so beautiful up there. I don't know. Taking pictures. We'll go with that. I love that. You know, Megan used to always teach, you know, she clearly has like so many tricks of the trade and things that she's amazing at doing that most, most of us wouldn't think about doing.
02:40And, uh, she used to, she used to teach me about them. Um, cause I was like, like me packing a bag was just throwing stuff in.
02:49And you can imagine like Megan would be like, you pack a bag by folding it perfectly and putting, I think she, I don't know.
02:56Am I going to get in trouble for saying this? Am I going to get in trouble for saying this?
02:59She would put like dryer sheets in the bag when she packed a bag. I was like, that is so genius. I never would have thought of that.
03:08Let's go. Now, I know you and Megan were not part of suits LA. Maybe if you were, we would have gotten a season two. Now, do you ever see a scenario where we could see the OG cast together?
03:19I'm open to it. I, it's a group of people that we got along and we had this amazing experience together and we had this rare situation where it got even more popular after we all dispersed.
03:29So I don't know. I always feel like with these things, if the demand is there and ultimately the script and the story is of interest and, uh, it makes sense, then I think anything is possible.
03:38You know, these things can feel like money grabs sometimes just like quick, like, oh, let's, you know, let's just take advantage of the popularity of this thing.
03:46And I think everyone involved would want it to be something, you know, pure of purpose and really, um, do justice to the original.
03:55What do you need me to do?
03:56Okay. We're going to put 10 seconds on the clock. Tell everyone why they should check out Wayward on September 25th.
04:02Mae Martin's a genius. I get to hang out with geniuses. It's beautifully made. Go watch it.
04:08Patrick, thank you so much for dropping by today.
