00:00Congratulations on reaching the semifinals and a question for Anne.
00:18Could you please give us your thoughts about how the tie went today?
00:22Yeah, look, I'm really proud of the women either side of me.
00:26I thought they did a great job today getting the job done.
00:30In straight sets in both matches, like I said before this competition started, I felt like we've prepared as well as possible.
00:40And it was just professional performances from both.
01:09Any questions, please?
01:10Congrats to you guys.
01:14Katie, one for you.
01:15That was a really clinical performance, I'd say.
01:19I think you converted every single breakpoint you had and you held off breakpoints.
01:23You played really well when the pressure was on.
01:25Talk me through the game plan going in and how well you executed it.
01:30Yeah, I feel like the game plan we had going in was pretty simple.
01:34I think I focused very much on myself and one or two pointers of hers that I wanted to target and I felt like I executed really well.
01:44And yeah, I'm really pleased with the way that I played today.
01:47I feel like I'm a new version of myself these last couple of weeks and yeah, I'm really looking forward to building some momentum off this.
01:54So you feel like a new version of yourself that just about being in a new environment with a team and also the kind of the Asia swing starting as well being able to reset?
02:04Yeah, I think so. I think I've struggled a little bit, you know, in the last few months kind of burning myself out a little bit and I feel like I've rejuvenated and spent a little bit of time at home, which I needed.
02:17And I think having the girls around really helps pick me up and, you know, I feel like I know what my identity is on the court and what I'm trying to do.
02:26But yeah, the last couple of months have been really tough for me and I'm just really excited to have some really good motivation going into the end of the year.
02:32And it's a really exciting prospect for me because, yeah, it's been tough.
02:39Over there.
02:44Sonny, I thought you looked very composed even when your opponent was starting to find her feet a little bit.
02:49You didn't look rattled at all. You looked like you were just internally keeping the faith. Is that how you felt?
02:53Yeah. Yeah. I think one of my biggest strengths on the court is, you know, you kind of look down the other end and you wouldn't really see any emotion.
03:00You wouldn't know if I'm winning or losing from the sidelines. And I think, you know, I know their team pretty well.
03:07I know that me and Katie were not going to have an easy match at all. They're super tough competitors.
03:13You know, they weren't going to give up at all. So I think, yeah, obviously it was a little bit closer in the second set than I would have liked.
03:19But, you know, I felt I still felt confident, you know, even being down the tiebreak, I still felt like as long as there were a few things that I had to remind myself, I felt like my my game was there.
03:29So, yeah, I just wanted to to keep the momentum going. But no, I felt pretty, pretty comfortable on the court today.
03:35We're a long way from home, but I think that was one of the most vocal support we've heard so far.
03:41Were you aware of that when you were on the court?
03:42Yeah. You know, the guys that follow us around are incredible. You know, they they really get behind us every single point.
03:51And I think it makes a huge difference. You know, having the girls on the sidelines, having the support within the crowd.
03:56You know, we really don't take that for granted in the tough moments.
04:00They they definitely get us. They help us get out of the dumps a little bit.
04:04And I think kind of almost focus on the next point a little bit.
04:09You know, when you've got them singing and screaming in your ear, it's definitely a super fun environment to play in.
04:14And Katie, have you any thoughts about the semifinal? And do you relish the prospect of that?
04:21Yeah, I mean, it's another opportunity.
04:23We've been in this position twice before.
04:27I think, you know, me, myself, I know what to expect.
04:30We've got some world class tennis players down the other end, but they also don't know what we're capable of.
04:36And I think we're all going to have a free swing and get after them for sure.
04:40And we've got nothing to lose. I'm very excited for this next time.
04:49And just on the U.S. team, how much of today's tie were you able to watch?
04:55And what are your thoughts? Because they have a lot of different options, I guess.
04:59Yeah, they've got options. We've got options, too.
05:03It's, you know, they're a strong team, but we're also a strong team and we're a united team.
05:12Was I watching earlier? Absolutely.
05:15Pretty much most of the team were watching.
05:17We had it on in the background. We were following.
05:20And the match, well, certainly the first match was really tight and that tie could have gone the other way.
05:24So, look, it's going to be tough, whoever they put out, but it's another opportunity for us.
05:33It's semifinals again.
05:34And, you know, we've shown how consistent we've been in recent years in this competition.
05:40And, you know, we're here for more.
05:44Yeah, so we're just going to go after it.
05:45It feels, from the way you guys are speaking, does it feel a little bit like unfinished business from last year?
05:56You want to kind of take that next step and, yeah, see what can happen?
06:00Yeah, look, I think there's always going to be unfinished business in this competition for us.
06:07And certainly I feel that as captain until we one day lift the trophy.
06:15Any more questions in English? Any Chinese questions?
06:48First of all, congratulations on Team GB for the win.
06:53I have two questions.
06:54The first one is, you have been in Shenzhen for a few days.
06:58What's your impression of the city?
07:00And the second question is, if you have time, and how would you like to explore the city?
07:06This is over you, Anne.
07:08You've been out more than I have.
07:10Doi.
07:10I mean, yeah, I mean, we've fallen in love with the coffee here.
07:18I think that's as far as we've gotten.
07:22We've stuck to the hotel.
07:23It's been really nice.
07:24I would love to go and explore a little bit more.
07:26If you have any recommendations, that would be great.
07:29And, yeah, well, if we get a day off, then we might get a chance to get out there.
07:32Yeah, look, it's been really comfortable for us here in Shenzhen.
07:38You know, where we're staying is in, you know, it's a great location.
07:42I must admit, I haven't really taken the opportunity to explore too much.
07:47I know a few of the other team members have made it out to the bay.
07:50But time really hasn't allowed us to explore too much.
07:56But I know for the coffee lovers on the team, they've found their spot, and that keeps them happy.
08:06Okay, I'll just slide first.
08:37I would add, the night of the reception, for those of us who were at the reception, well, for the rest of the team who weren't at the reception, they took the opportunity to go to a Cantonese restaurant, and, yeah, they had a delicious meal.
09:03Any other questions?
09:15Thank you very much.
09:16Thank you very much.
09:17Thank you very much.
