The United Arab Emirates will help in the Philippines’ digitalization efforts and share its best practices in governance to boost the country’s business environment, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said on Wednesday, Sept. 17. (via Raymund Antonio | MB)
00:00a gathering of government officials. It is a milestone in the story of friendship
00:06between our two nations. A friendship that began formally in 1974 when the UAE and the Philippines
00:14established their diplomatic ties and has flourished for more than five decades. Since then
00:23our countries have built partnerships across many fields, trade, investment, culture, energy,
00:30justice, art and labor and many more values. They strengthen our economy with their skills
00:38and they remind us daily that the ties between our two nations are not only diplomatic but
00:45profoundly human. Excellencies, it was in the same spirit of partnership that the government
00:54experience exchange program or what we call JEEP was created in the UAE. Its principle is simple
01:02yet powerful. No country holds a monopoly on wisdom and every government has lessons worth
01:13sharing. What began as an initiative to listen and learn has grown into a global platform
01:21where nations work side by side exchanging knowledge, co-designing solutions and applying innovation
01:30to serve their people. Just a couple of months after the signing, on behalf of the Philippine
01:37government, we were able to actually conduct this type of technical assistance for the country.
01:44I hope to learn more about the experiences of the United Arab Emirates in terms of digitalization, competitiveness,
01:55of course from our end for BFF, public financial management system, budgeting and even procurement reform.
02:04This will not be just a one day event, they are here until tomorrow. They will be going around the different departments here in the country and then this will move forward further.
02:15I know that the collaboration within the government will continue, not just this year but beyond, so I hope that this will be a very successful event and your visit will be very successful.
02:31So, we are looking forward to the future collaborations within the government of UAE and of course the national schools.
