LEGO Voyagers is finally here! In this video, I take a deep dive into the history of LEGO video games, from the early days of LEGO Star Wars to LEGO Batman, Indiana Jones, and beyond — and explore where the brand-new LEGO Voyagers fits in.

I’ve always loved LEGO games. I’ve fully completed LEGO Batman and LEGO Indiana Jones, and while I enjoyed LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, I found myself struggling with how tricky it could be just to figure out how to progress. That’s why I’m curious about how LEGO Voyagers approaches its gameplay and whether it sticks to the classic LEGO formula or tries something new.

Since LEGO Voyagers just released yesterday, I don’t have a review copy — but I’ll break down what’s known so far, the features it brings to the table, and how it compares to the LEGO games we’ve grown up with.

If you’re a fan of LEGO games or just curious about what LEGO Voyagers has to offer, this video is for you.

💬 Question of the Video: What’s your favorite LEGO game of all time? Drop it in the comments — I’d love to hear your picks!

00:00Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel. Today we're talking about LEGO Voyagers, which just released yesterday.
00:06Now, I don't have a copy yet, so this is not a review, but I still wanted to dive into this brand new LEGO game to see what it has to offer,
00:14how it compares to the classics, and whether it keeps that familiar LEGO formula that we all love, or does it break into new territory.
00:22There's a lot to talk about, so let's get into it.
00:24When we talk about LEGO video games, we're looking at a series with more than two decades of history.
00:30The earliest titles go back to the late 90s with games like LEGO Island and LEGO Racer,
00:35but the big breakthrough came in 2005 with LEGO Star Wars the video game.
00:40That was the game that defined the formula, co-op platforming, light combat, puzzle solving,
00:47loads of unlockable characters, and plenty of LEGO humor.
00:50From there, the floodgates opened. LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Batman, LEGO Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings,
00:57LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and more.
01:01Personally, I really enjoyed a lot of these games.
01:04I've completed LEGO Batman and LEGO Indiana Jones, and they were a blast.
01:08But not every game clicked with me.
01:11LEGO Batman 2, DC Super Heroes got frustrating at times, because it wasn't always clear how to progress.
01:17Instead of feeling clever, it sometimes just felt confusing, and that's where some LEGO games can stumble.
01:23That's been the balance for years.
01:26Simple, fun gameplay most of the time, but occasionally weighed down by awkward puzzles or progression barriers.
01:33To keep things fresh, LEGO has tried different ideas over the years.
01:37LEGO Worlds went the sandbox route, like Minecraft, with freedom to build and explore.
01:42LEGO Dimensions experimented with toys to life, blending tons of franchises together.
01:47Not all of these experiments were runaway hits, but they showed LEGO wasn't afraid to step away from licensed movie retelling.
01:54And that experimentation laid the groundwork for a release like LEGO Voyagers.
02:00So where exactly do we get with LEGO Voyagers now that it's out?
02:04This is an original story-driven adventure not based on Star Wars, Marvel, or Harry Potter, but a brand new LEGO universe.
02:11You play as new characters traveling across the galaxy, visiting different planets, each with unique environments, enemies, and challenges.
02:22The moment-to-moment gameplay still looks familiar.
02:25Smashing objects with studs, solving puzzles, light combat, and plenty of slapstick LEGO humor.
02:31But what makes Voyagers stand out is its structure.
02:34Instead of being tied to movie storylines, it gives you the freedom to explore this new galaxy, making the LEGO brand itself the star.
02:43So does LEGO Voyagers feel like the old LEGO games, or does it go in a new direction?
02:48The classic DNA is definitely still here.
02:51Co-op play, puzzles, collectibles, and that signature LEGO charm.
02:56But there are big changes too.
02:59Exploration for one.
03:00With galaxy travel, you're not just moving through linear missions.
03:03There's more freedom and scale.
03:06Another is original storytelling.
03:08This isn't retelling a movie.
03:10Everything.
03:11Characters.
03:11Worlds.
03:12Plotlines.
03:13It's all new.
03:14And last, hybrid design.
03:16It seems to balance structured missions with open exploration,
03:19similar to how LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga gave players more choices in how to approach planets.
03:26For me, this shift is exciting.
03:27And hopefully, it helps with one of the issues I had with past games, where progression could get confusing.
03:34If Voyagers manages to keep things intuitive while still challenging, it could strike the perfect balance.
03:41Here's what players can expect now that the game is out.
03:44New heroes and villains.
03:46An original cast designed specifically for this story.
03:49Planet hopping adventure.
03:51Each planet feels different with unique challenges and designs.
03:54Customization.
03:56Expect the ability to build, tweak characters, and possibly vehicles.
04:00More integrated into gameplay progression.
04:03Classic couch co-op.
04:05LEGO's bread and butter.
04:07Playing with friends or family is still a core feature.
04:10Replay value.
04:11Like past LEGO games, there are tons of collectibles, secrets, and side content to keep you coming back.
04:17So, in the end, LEGO Voyagers feels like it's a return to what made LEGO games fun,
04:22and to step forward at the same time with new ideas.
04:25I've had a lot of fun with past LEGO titles, though some have definitely frustrated me.
04:30If LEGO Voyagers can keep the best parts, the humor, the collectibles, the co-op, while smoothing out progression,
04:37it could be one of the most exciting LEGO games that we've had in years.
04:41Since it's out now, I'll be keeping an eye on how players react, and if I do pick up a copy, I'll come back with a full review.
04:49But for now, I want to know what you think.
04:51Are you excited about LEGO branching out with the original story, or do you prefer the classic movie tie-in approach?
04:57Let me know in the comments.
04:59And as always, don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit that notification bell for more gaming showcases, breakdowns, and reviews.
05:08Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time.
