00:00When travelers come to Bolivia, it's mainly for the Iyuni Salt Flats, but I would argue that the
00:04journey to get there is the main event. I recommend taking the route of going from San Pedro to
00:08Atacama in Chile on a four-day, three-night guided tour through the Alta Plano in southern
00:13Bolivia. It is one of the best road trips you will ever do. One, because it is one of the most
00:17naturally beautiful places in the world. This was a private tour that included transportation,
00:22food, accommodation, and of course, the tour guide. This road trip feels less like driving
00:26between countries and cities, but more like driving between different planets. And probably
00:30the most important part is that most of this is above 12,000 feet above sea level. There are places
00:35like Laguna, Colorado, famous for its red waters, and hundreds of flamingos, Sul de Manana geysers,
00:41which is almost 16,000 feet above sea level. The Dali Desert, that literally looks like a painting,
00:46one of the highest elevation hotels in the world. Not to mention the indigenous communities of the
00:50Alta Plano, whose traditions, language, and way of life are deeply tied to the land. And of course,
00:55the main event are the Uni Salt Flats, the world's largest. And while the end point took my breath
01:00away, it was all about the in-between.
