The year is 1191. Nearly twenty-one years have passed since I first rode under Saladin’s banner, and now the fate of the Holy Land hangs by a thread.

When Jerusalem fell to the Saracens, Europe answered with fury. The might of three great kings — Richard the Lionheart of England, Philip of France, and Frederick Barbarossa of the Holy Roman Empire — has descended upon Acre. Of them, Richard is the most dangerous: a brilliant commander, a fortress builder, and a warrior who leads from the front.

Saladin’s army is cornered within the city walls as two monstrous English trebuchets tear Acre apart. If Acre falls, Richard will march to Jerusalem unopposed. If Acre stands, the Crusaders may be forced to abandon their holy war.

This is the climactic battle of Saladin’s jihad — a struggle where the outcome will decide not just Acre’s fate, but the destiny of the entire Crusader Kingdoms.
