Fareham Pantry Opens

Fareham Pantry officially opened on Monday, September 15, 2025 in Unit 28 of Fareham Shopping Centre and on West Street, Fareham.

00:00Hi, so I'm Holly and I am the Pantry Lead here at Fairham.

00:04So tell me where Fairham Pantry is located.

00:08Yes, so Fairham Pantry is located on the West Street in Fairham,

00:12right next door to Halifax and opposite TK Max.

00:15Okay, tell me what Fairham Pantry is and what you do.

00:19So Fairham Pantry is a not-for-profit.

00:22We are managed by Gateway Trust, who also manages Cams Hill School.

00:27We are open to everybody within the local community, so we're fully inclusive.

00:33And for £6 a week, you get to purchase 12 items.

00:38So it's 2 blue, which would include things like your packets of mints, chicken, sausages.

00:45And then it's 10 red, which are your more basic staple items,

00:50so tin goods, cereals and toiletries.

00:53They open this morning.

00:55Yes, first day.

00:56Tell me what the reaction's been like.

00:58I am blown over by the reaction.

01:02So many people in the community, they have just come in, said hi.

01:07We've had so many best, I'm sorry, good luck wishes.

01:12People have come in, they've signed up, they've just come in to find out about us.

01:15We had a couple of people just literally wanted to come and have a cup of tea and a chat.

01:19But we've received such a warm welcome from the local community, I'm just really touched by it today.

01:27And have you seen sort of a mixture of ages of people?

01:32Yeah, completely, which I think really shows what we're all about.

01:37So we've had young mums come in, we've had older people who are on a pension.

01:43We've had a gentleman who was working three jobs, who've all come in to support us.

01:48We had a lady come in just to drop donations in.

01:51But I really feel that shows who we are as a country, that we are here for the community and everybody within the community.

02:01Brilliant.

02:02So finally, tell me when your opening hours are.

02:04So today was the first day and it's gone really well.

02:07So thank you so much to everyone who has supported us.

02:11We will be open on a Monday 9 to 12, a Wednesday 3 until 6 and a Friday 9 to 12.

02:17So at the pantry, as well as selling the food and toiletry products, we also do pre-loved clothing for schools.

02:28So we have a range of shirts, trousers, skirts and more specifically, we've got Cannes Hill branded uniforms.

02:37So we've got blazers, PE kits and ties.

02:42Are you looking for more schools to get on board?

02:45Yes, absolutely.

02:46So any school in the local community, we will happily stock your pre-loved uniform.

02:51So if any parents out there, grandparents, carers, I would really encourage you to have a good rifle through the drawers and the cupboards.

02:59And anything you've got, we will happily take.
