00:00I met a crazy Californian guy, his name was Tom Gereke.

00:04He was obsessed by Australian wine.

00:07He absolutely drew me in through his enthusiasm for the topic.

00:11So we cooked up this plan to invent a master chef of wine,

00:14and it was called Battle of the Vines.

00:17But we had to change the name because nobody understood.

00:19And that was a fortunate change because when we changed the name

00:22from Battle of the Vines to Battle of the Wines,

00:25we found out this event actually had an 800-year-old history.

00:29The French King in 1224 had a wine competition.

00:33He said, bring all the best wines in the world to me.

00:35We're going to judge them and they're going to be a winner.

00:38And the winner was Cyprus.

00:40None of the wine competitions at the moment with great respect bring the best wines.

00:43We do because we challenge the experts to put the best wines in.

00:47This means that we're seeing the Michelin-style level of wines,

00:51not mediocre trade wines.

00:54We're diving into the food and beverage sectors, the Holy Grail,

00:58fashion and wine.

01:00If we can break that, get those two giant industries working together,

01:03good things will happen.

01:04There's a lot more potential in that area.

01:06That's what we're going to do, Nicky.

01:07We're going to get those two silos crashing into each other.

01:11It's about a love of wine and connecting people through wine.

01:16I think we will be a voice for freshening up, lifting up the new talents

01:21within the wine industry.

01:22That's what it would be missing.

01:23We're an agent of change.

01:28Nearly everybody who's major significant relationships in life,

01:31wine has been involved in the courtship process,

01:33allow them to be more comfortable so they can let themselves,

01:36show themselves to their future partner,

01:38just to take that little edge off.
