00:00Elon Musk is back in Palo Alto, back from his side quest, as he put it recently, to fix
00:10Washington, D.C. During an appearance at the All In podcast, Musk took a less than
00:15optimistic tone when describing the trajectory of the U.S. government. Take a look.
00:20That was a hell of a side quest.
00:23That was a good side quest. Any lessons from your time in Washington, D.C.?
00:28The government is basically unfixable. If you look at our national debt, which is insanely high,
00:37the interest payments exceed the Defense Department, I guess, sorry, War Department budget.
00:48And they keep rising. So if AI and robots don't solve our national debt, we're toast.
00:56And it might be good for Musk to be back at work. He briefly lost his title of the world's richest
01:02person. According to Bloomberg's Wealth Tracker, published Wednesday, the tech giant got knocked
01:07off the top by Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. The 81-year-old's wealth jumped $89 billion to $383.2
01:16billion Wednesday due to Oracle's surge in the market. I need a dollar of that.
01:21But as markets closed, Musk was back on top with a net worth of $384.2 billion. These numbers are so
01:29astronomical. I don't even know why we're debating this. Like, richest, richest, just put the list
01:33out. If you have more than $100 million, call it a day. They're very rich. Good for them.
01:37I kind of feel sad about Elon Musk being this discouraged by government. It's almost like...
01:43Welcome to the club, pal. I mean, yes, I'm sad too.
01:45It's literally like laughing a sad laugh. Yeah. Like, we are really deeply in debt. But you know
01:51what? A lot of... I feel like there's such a good old boys club in Washington that when Elon Musk
01:58came, it's almost like people are chuckling behind his back to watch him leave with his tail tucked
02:02in this way. Which is, if his ideas were genuine and he actually wanted to bring down our debt,
02:08because a lot of things that he did, I think, were a little bit reckless when he decided which
02:12programs he's going to cut. And we debated about that.
02:14That's how you bring down the debt, if you cut programs.
02:16I know. We talked about several things that he did. I think he started in the wrong place,
02:19skipped Congress, and then they implemented a lot of things.
02:21Also, then they put it all back.
02:23Yeah. So I think that, you know, the way he went about stuff was a bit knee-jerk reaction. But
02:27if he's able to amass that much wealth as an individual with several ideas for companies,
02:33then I think it's worth having his perspective in government, which is not the best at
02:37obviously running businesses to be in this much debt.
02:40But Elon tried to do something that no one has ever done before and probably will never
02:46do again. He tried to make the government spend less money. He tried to make it a little smaller.
02:53Nobody ever does. They talk about doing that. Republicans have said that for years and years.
02:56For my whole lifetime.
02:58Limited government. We're going to limit that government. But nobody actually ever does it.
03:02Elon came in and he was like, yeah, that's done. That's gone. That's canceled. He was actually,
03:07he was going to do it. It was happening. I couldn't believe my eyes. Before my very eyes,
03:12the thing Republicans have sworn to do, he was actually doing, unfortunately.
03:18The straw that broke the camel's back was?
03:21Was what?
03:21The big, beautiful bill, which was also implemented by all Republicans.
03:24At the time that he's trying to shrink the government, the Republicans who have sworn that
03:30they wanted to do that for decades, my entire life.
03:32Clapped him up in the Oval Office.
03:34At the same time he was actually cutting it, they were putting together a bill to spend more money
03:41than ever that they voted through that made him very upset. And his time ran out and now he's not
03:46in this role anymore. But maybe it's better because I too think robots and AI are the future.
03:52If they're programmed neutrally.
03:56What do you mean neutrally?
03:57Not to have bias of Elon Musk like Grok has been programmed. I would love them to just be
04:03programmed neutrally and find the exact root of the cause of the debt and read it out,
04:07not based on social issues that Musk personally disagrees with. But I'd love to see if AI can fix
04:13our debt, but not just in a biased way. Because maybe AI can actually be neutral. AI can take all the
04:18perspectives of all the people in Congress that have had all these ideas how to bring down the debt
04:22and actually see which one is actually effective and not just rhetoric on the campaign trail.
04:26Because what I learned is that a lot of Republicans don't actually care about bringing down the debt.
04:31A lot of fiscal conservatives that I've agreed with over my career actually didn't care about it as
04:34much because this big, beautiful bill was a disaster for anybody who calls themselves a fiscal
04:39conservative. Which very few Republicans spoke out about.
04:41I don't like it and neither does Elon Musk, but he's getting back to work, hopefully to make us
04:48a multi-planetary species. The goal of Elon Musk that I share. That does it for us on Rising Live.
