00:00How much will Donald Trump's second state visit cost the British taxpayer?
00:04The three-day trip will include a ceremonial welcome, a state banquet, and even a red
00:10arrows flyover. U.S. state visits are usually extravagant, especially when
00:15Trump is involved. But this one could set a new record. Back in 2019, Trump's first
00:22state visit cost around £3.9 million. £3.4 million went on policing, with about
00:326,000 officers deployed. £240,000 covered venue and production costs. £100,000 was spent
00:44on entertainment, including a lavish banquet with halibut and fine wines.
00:51Even though President Trump doesn't drink. And £33,000 on transport. And finally, £30,000
01:01was spent on accommodation. The U.S. delegation is understood to an entire
01:07floor at a luxury hotel in central London, while the U.S. President and the First Lady stayed
01:16at Winfield House. Altogether, that's more than £5 million in today's money.
01:23But the real cost of this year's visit is still unknown. So the big question is, will Trump's
01:30date visit be worth the price tag for the British taxpayer?
