00:00This is Dixotomia by the developers DeepMatrix,
00:29and it was released on the 28th of August 2025.
00:32Before I start, I do believe this game can be great,
00:35but it's got a long way to go.
00:37Maybe another 6 months to a year.
00:39I believe they released to early access way too soon.
00:43About the game.
00:44To be honest, I'm not really sure what the story is,
00:47because I couldn't progress very far because of all the bugs I was encountering.
00:51Levels and size.
00:52From what I managed to play, it seems of a decent size.
00:55The rooms are probably a little too spacious and need more to fill them,
00:59but I do like the looks of some of the environments so far.
01:02Enemies and bosses.
01:03The designs look great on the enemies and the one boss I encountered so far,
01:08though I think they could be a little smarter,
01:10and I think the bullet speed should be sped up a lot more for more intense battles.
01:15Maybe add a button on you that automatically charges to slow time down for 5 or 10 seconds.
01:21Then maybe have an upgrade to collect so it charges faster.
01:24Weapons.
01:25The weapons I got to use so far are decent.
01:28A pistol, a large machine gun, a shotgun, and some sort of thing that's on your right arm.
01:33Also then, there are powers you have on your left arm menu.
01:36Though I'm a little confused of what they are.
01:38I think I missed the instruction when I collected them,
01:41but I think it involves maybe pushing them away with this gust of wind like a Jedi type trick.
01:47The guns will reload when you point the guns down next to your hip.
01:50Leveling up options.
01:52There are ways you can level up, but I don't think I got there yet,
01:55but there looks to be a pretty decent skill tree type thing.
01:59Mechanics.
02:00I've had an issue in every game I've played.
02:04First of all, I was holding a gun and it asked me to touch with my right hand a menu on my left arm,
02:10but it wouldn't let go of the gun for me to be able to touch the menu.
02:14So I just had to quit the game as I couldn't progress any further.
02:18Next, I collected a square and the colours just disappeared and looked like I swallowed the wrong pill.
02:24This also happened again in the third game.
02:27Then I just lost the will to continue playing this.
02:30Some of the characters don't seem to have dialogue yet,
02:33and I hope they plan on making the characters they do have talking instead of dealing with text and subtitle boxes,
02:40which is like stepping back in time to the 1980s.
02:43In today's gaming world, characters in gaming should be actually talking,
02:48especially in something as advanced as a VR headset.
02:51Also, the picking up mechanics still need refining or fixing.
02:54Currently, when you pick up objects,
02:56it kind of balances an inch away from the top of your hand instead of grabbing the object.
03:01Also, the music doesn't seem to want to turn off when I've selected to turn off.
03:06Controls.
03:07The controls feel like they might take some time to get to grips with,
03:11but overall they feel pretty good.
03:13The tricky part is having to press a button that brings up a menu on your arm.
03:17If it's your right arm, then it brings up a selection of weapons to pick from.
03:21If it's your left arm, then it brings up a section of powers to use.
03:25Game menus.
03:26Menus offer settings for graphics, sound, gameplay and controls,
03:31and they fit in nicely with the game's theme.
03:33My thoughts.
03:34I genuinely believe they shot themselves in the foot by releasing this to early access too soon.
03:40There are way too many problems with this to enjoy playing it right now.
03:44You can see and feel what they are going for,
03:47and I think in another year they will have a playable game.
03:50But right now, give it a miss unless you understand and accept it has many problems.
03:55If you manage to pick this up for $5 maybe, then sit on it for a year.
03:59Just go for it.
04:00Anyway, touch that like button, hit subscribe and happy gaming.
04:03Thanks guys.
