Brave eight-year-old Yorkshire girl who lost limbs to meningitis dies after long battle

An eight-year-old girl who was struck down with meningitis and needed a quadruple amputation has sadly passed away.  Kia Gott, from Bradford, West Yorks., was just nine months old when she contracted meningitis in September 2017.  The young girl had to spend eight months in hospital and was told she might never be able to see or hear again - but defied the odds by regaining her sight and hearing.  But earlier this week, her family announced she had tragically passed away.

00:44Then the doctors sent us home

00:46and said bring her back in a week and shouldn't bad

00:48Two o'clock that morning and we were getting rushed into hospital

00:52By ambulance because we found a rash

00:54Looked like bruises

01:00And then if you took your eyes away for a second and looked back

01:02There were just more

01:04Just come in and come in weren't they?

01:06It's just one night we'll never ever forget

01:08And then from then we've been?

01:10Nine months from we're sat here now back at home

01:12With her ear of us which is just absolutely

01:22So the doctors said it was the worst case of meningitis that seemed for 25 years

01:40Honestly I'll never forget that side

01:42They looked like dead bird arms

01:44It was bloody horrible wasn't it?

01:46And then knowing she had to go through all that to get her to where she is now

01:50She had to have amputations

01:52She had to have kidney dialysis

01:54The amount of drugs she went on were just unbelievable

01:56Pumped full of sedative medicine

01:58A stack of pumps like that

02:01I literally just dumped them in and nothing can she?
