Stagefright – D-Day 1980 (USA, Heavy Psychedelic/Hard Rock)
The only album of a little-known band from Carthage (Missouri).Starts off sounding like it's going to be some "late in the game" Southern Rock LP in the early Heavy Metal era (ie : the cool boneheaded full frontal hard-rock assault of the opening track).. but then turns out to be something else entirely, something more intimate and subtly melancholy you weren't expecting, and which hits you right between the eyes.
Sunburnt skin peels off underneath the sweat soaked leather cowboy hat. Late afternoon early sundown doesn't bring any coolness, stay indoors (never too far from the fridge full of icy cold drinks), don't even bother doing your homework, life is just too short and they will use you and suck your blood until the very last drop anyway. The physical world is all we have, everything else is a fiction, some sort of trap they set up to exploit, use or abuse.Esotericlibrary Dec 23 2023
