Tesla Model Y L 6 Seat EV Range Revealed - It's more than I thought!

00:45talking about the average human being you know global on a global scale but in the west in the
00:51west there's not a whole lot of options and currently right now i'm driving a zika 009 just
00:57testing it it's awesome my boys are just going dad we need this car i love this car and i'm saying boys
01:04i i don't want to spend this kind of money on a car i would love to but i can't justify it emotionally
01:10or physically so there's not a lot on the market is there guys so if you can get a nearly five meter
01:19long ev for only a few thousand dollars more than an existing tesla model y i'm going to guess for a
01:25lot of people that's going to be a massive opportunity for them a good thing new model y
01:30it has the same range as the new model y now when i say that i know that sounds confusing but i'll
01:37clarify the model y has had its range upgraded recently in china and i believe that's applying to
01:44german-made models as well ranges 600 kilometers wltp so it was an increase from 544 kilometers so
01:52an increase of 56 kilometers from the initial release when the car came out earlier this year
01:59it was 544 kilometers the new highland model now that's the long range all-wheel drive
02:04now tesla bumped it up to 600 kilometers of range by increasing the battery size it does appear maybe
02:13they improve the efficiency a little bit as well but anyway they increase the battery size not by a lot
02:18so that's why i think they might have increased the efficiency too and it came out at 600 kilometers
02:23i don't know how but the same the model y l has exactly the same range so with the same size battery
02:32it doesn't make sense to me anyway the latest filing information shows that the model y l gets the
02:4282 kilowatt hour battery that's in the standard model y long range that comes with 751 kilometers of
02:51cltc range which is exactly the same as the model y long range with this not stretched so i'm not sure
02:59i mean obviously the weight has increased i believe the weight has increased by about 80 kilograms so about
03:05175 pounds and somehow the range is the same it doesn't add up to me but anyway they're the numbers
03:12we're seeing from china those are official numbers from the government so they have to be more or less
03:17correct you would assume the battery pack weight as well is quite interesting now the battery pack
03:23weighs 465 kilograms and senior post and other websites can use china and some other sites say that
03:30means the energy density is 176 watt hours per kilogram but that is actually not correct now that is
03:37in fact completely incorrect and will mislead a lot of people because they'll read that information
03:42and think that's correct it's not that's battery pack energy density at the pack level not at the
03:48cell level now generally batteries are not reported that way i mean 98 percent of the time when we talk
03:54about battery energy density we talk about it at the cell level not at the pack level i think it makes
03:59more sense at the pack level but we don't do that so that's why it's going to be confusing the energy
04:03density of this battery pack if it was 176 watt hours per kilogram at the cell level you'd be getting
04:08like closer to 450 kilometers of range so that's what it is at the pack level i'm going to say that
04:14the energy density at the cell level is probably about 250 to 260 watt hours per kilogram that's
04:20the likely number so when's this vehicle coming out well the government said uh six seat model y is
04:29coming in china this fall so this fall in other words within a few months time those batteries of
04:35course come from lg energy solutions or lg chem power the power is the same as the model y
04:43or will drive it comes with 142 kilowatt front motor and 198 kilowatt rear motor so you're looking at
04:50about 340 kilowatt in total total power plenty of power i mean more than enough hopefully there will be
04:56a real drive version because there is the five seat version there's a real drive version but that
05:05only comes with the lithium ion phosphate battery so it has less range however in china now you can buy
05:12the model 3 plus and that is real drive with the nmc battery from lg energy solutions so it has about
05:20700 kilometers of wltp range that would be ideal i think and you know maybe there's some something
05:28going on here where actually the new model y l has only rear wheel drive and that's why it's getting
05:34the same range as the model y with all wheel drive that's the shorter version i'm not sure but anyway
05:40these are the numbers we're seeing from china officially 600 kilometers of wltp range and
05:46and the battery pack size is the same as the existing tesla model y the updated version with
05:53an 82 kilowatt hour battery so that's all we know so far about the model y l when will it be coming
05:58to other markets i mean we know this car is coming to the united states i'm going to guess the range will
06:03be similar in the u.s as well it's coming it's going to be a global car it's meant to be here within
06:08the next three or four months i mean whether it will be i don't know there has been videos spotted
06:14it was spotted yesterday test driving around china haven't seen any of these tests driven in

06:2720 percent cheaper tesla model y it's um well here are the changes on the exterior there is no front
06:44bumper camera uh no split headlights no glass roof so that glass panoramic roof that's going
06:52no rear indirect light bar i think it looks better without it afterburner reflection panel
06:58replaced by body painted panel so those are the changes on the outside on the inside no cup holder
07:06cover no storage in front of cup holders no rear screen single stalk for turn signals and vegan leather
07:16seats that are not ventilated those are the big changes but there's a few others as well all right
07:23so some very interesting information here tesla's new cheap 20 percent cheaper apparently i mean this
07:30is what tesla is saying if it's 20 cheaper that's it's going to make it one of the most affordable
07:35electric cars you can buy period we know the details now not exactly but we've got some pretty
07:41interesting data here from china showing what the new model y will and won't get or what it won't get
07:49specifically which is very weird to me i i don't understand why this would be a good idea from tesla
07:56i mean some of the things seem good good to remove them to make it cheaper but other things just seem
