00:00Hello, it's Graeme Bean from the Scotsman at Scotstown Stadium, where Glasgow Warriors have just defeated the Northampton Saints by 48 points to 31 in the final pre-season match before the new URC season begins in a couple of weeks' time.
00:17It was a really gutsy performance from Glasgow, who trailed for much of the first half, but they got their noses in front just before the break, with a try from Gregor Hiddleston, his second of the game, that made the score at half-time 26-24, a really lively first half.
00:33There were four tries from Glasgow in the first half, Dan Lancaster in his first start for the club got a score for them, as did Jack Oliver, who came on early, for Ben Afshar, who had to go off injured after around five minutes.
00:47And then Hiddleston weighed in with his double, so that put Glasgow ahead at the break.
00:53Northampton got their noses in front at the start of the second half, when George Hendy got his second try of the night, but Glasgow finished strongly and tried from Johnny Matthews, a replacement, and Josh Mackay won the game for them.
01:07So a satisfactory evening for Franco Smith's side, Lancaster looked good at stand-off, he kicked four from five conversions and controlled the game well, and Jack Oliver looked really good as well at scrum half, played for most of the game.
01:20A lot of young players showed up well, Matthew Irwin was good, he came on quite late on, but Fergus Watson, perhaps the pick of the bunch, looked really lively, the Scotland under-20 winger, and a deserved player of the match.
01:36So, final score again here at Scottsdale, Glasgow Warriors 40, Northampton Saints 31.
