00:00Hello and welcome to this Queensland Jamesweather update for Friday.
00:04We're looking fairly clear this morning.
00:06We've got a cloud band coming down from the northwest.
00:08That isn't going to produce a lot on its way through,
00:11but it will affect the northern coast as we move across the weekend
00:15and through much of next week.
00:17Otherwise, things are looking fairly clear for the southeast today
00:19and all across that southern inland.
00:21Let's go day by day and see what we've got.
00:23Just a little bit of coastal activity there today.
00:26There's that light spit of rain that is coming in across the northwest.
00:28Hardly anything in the southeast.
00:31Let's move into Saturday.
00:33Here we go.
00:33We're looking different now.
00:34Have a look at the grey lines here up into the red lines there.
00:38That tells us what instability we have in the upper atmosphere.
00:41If we look at the solid grey lines here,
00:44we've got a trough that is now running down through these parts here.
00:47That's our surface instability.
00:49Those two are going to work together,
00:51plus high pressure system that is moving to the southeast,
00:54bringing in all of that onshore wind so that is moisture.
00:56All of those three work together to produce all of this wet weather coming in through here.
01:02Now, the high is likely to be over the northern parts of New South Wales,
01:05so that means it's the northern parts of Queensland that will see the most of this
01:09and it can extend inland the furthest here.
01:11But there is still some activity in the southeast and along much of the coastline.
01:15So that's Saturday.
01:16Let's now have a look at Sunday.
01:17This continues here.
01:19There's a lot that is offshore that we are seeing in those northern parts.
01:22Coastal showers all the way up, mainly north of Townsville.
01:25Heading into Monday, here we are next week.
01:27This is still going.
01:29We take a break in the southeast.
01:30Into Tuesday, yes, it's still going.
01:33Wednesday, yes, it's still going.
01:34Thursday, yes, it's still going.
01:36A little bit down in through here from a system that moves past.
01:39I'll show you what that means for temperatures shortly.
01:41And as we move into next Friday, yes, it is still going.
01:43So as long as you've got this pattern in this one here
01:46and this trough line that is sitting in through there,
01:49then we can get that wet weather in that northern part.
01:51Plus, next Friday, we might see a bit of activity coming to the southwestern corner.
01:56Not the same as what we saw last time.
01:58That was a much bigger system, but this one should deliver something.
02:02All right, take a look at totals as we move through there.
02:05Townsville, northwards, Cairns, Port Douglas, all in through these parts here.
02:0875 to 100.
02:10It's not heavy on any particular day, but it is day after day after day.
02:13And so across the course of a week, yes, that certainly adds up.
02:16You can see that it really tapers off as you head inland and in the southeast here.
02:21It really does not add up to very much at all.
02:23OK, speaking of the southeast, let's have a look at Brisbane.
02:26Temperatures around 24, 23.
02:29Here's the main wet weather day, and it's not very much at all.
02:33So it's just a little bit of onshore winds.
02:35They're not even overly strong.
02:37We're about 23.
02:38We've got a little bit of cloud around and there are light showers passing us through.
02:41So there's nothing overly exciting about that one there.
02:43Might get another brief light shower on Sunday and again next Thursday.
02:48But it's nothing big, nothing major.
02:51Have you look at temperatures, 24, 26, 26, 30.
02:54There is our peak Wednesday, and then the change comes through.
02:57It isn't a strong one.
02:59It's not a huge cold outbreak that's going to make it right up to southern Queensland.
03:03But we are going to feel a little bit of it in terms of how the wind changes as it moves past.
03:07But there's nothing freezing behind it.
03:09Still on 26 as the next one moving through there.
03:12And the overnight temperatures increase as we've got our higher dew points because there's more moisture in the air.
03:18As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
