Transcript
00:00Hey, what's up guys? It's Jason Aldean and this is the Odyssey world premiere of my new song, How Far Does a Goodbye Go?
00:07How Far Does a Goodbye Go? was pitched to me by a couple of my bandmates who were writers on the song, Tully Kennedy, Kurt Allison.
00:14And it was just one of those songs that the first time I heard it, obviously I loved the lyric, I loved the melody, I loved what it was saying.
00:20It was something that just seemed like it was tailor-made for us, which it was.
00:24You know, our guys kind of were writing for this record and just one of those songs, I think when you hear it for the first time, you know there's something special about it.
00:33Something that people are going to connect with and something that everybody's probably gone through at some point.
00:38So when you hear those songs, I think it's, you know, it's one of those things.
00:42It just strikes you in a certain way and makes you want to run to the studio and cut it.
00:46And that's kind of what it was like for that song.
00:47I think the reason we wanted to go with How Far Does a Goodbye Go for the single, to me, was the fact that, one, it's a great song.
00:55I feel like it's, you know, it's what we do.
00:58One of the things we do best is that kind of song.
01:02But also, I think it was a really good representation of what people can expect on the album.
01:07You know, what the album's going to kind of look like.
01:10And this is one of the songs that really kind of helped to shape that.
01:13And so to make that the first single, to give people an idea of what's coming, to me, was kind of a no-brainer.
01:19I hope fans listen to this song.
01:21And obviously, you want them to like it.
01:23You want them to be able to relate to it.
01:25You know, a lot of the feedback we've gotten earlier is, man, this sounds like, you know, a lot of the older stuff you came out with in the beginning.
01:32Which they seem to like.
01:34So, you know, music is a process where, you know, it's constantly evolving and changing.
01:40And you kind of grow with it.
01:41And sometimes it's cool to go back and, you know, kind of do some of the things that you've gotten away from a little bit.
01:48And, you know, this is one of those songs.
01:50So I hope this is one of those songs that people can slide in, you know, next to some of the songs that we've had over the years.
01:57You know, like an instant classic to me that kind of fits in our catalog.
02:00So hopefully people love it.
02:02And go check out the whole album.
