Will #Trump confront #Russia after drones entered Polish airspace? John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the UN, offers his perspective.
Transcript
00:00In a post on Truth Social, President Trump has said,
00:03what's with Russia violating Poland's airspace with drones?
00:08Here we go.
00:09What can we expect to see from President Donald Trump in the coming days or hours?
00:14And will this rhetoric now be concerning Vladimir Putin?
00:19Well, I'm not quite sure what Trump means by that.
00:21I mean, he has said that he wanted to solve the Ukraine war
00:25because he thought it could lead to World War III.
00:27And that may be what he's reflecting.
00:30I mean, I think this is clearly the moment that should have come before
00:35that just to say to the Russians, we don't accept this kind of behavior.
00:40I find it very hard to believe that 19 drones penetrating Polish airspace
00:47over an extended period of time with simply poorly targeted drones,
00:52the rest aimed at Ukraine.
00:54I think this could very well be a Russian effort to see how much resolve NATO has.
01:02So I think it calls for some very strong sanctions.
01:06I think it should reinforce what I think many NATO members already believe,
01:10that Putin, after the Anchorage summit, thought he had a free hand.
01:14He was disregarding what NATO was saying and our determination to make sure that the Russian
01:20aggression in Ukraine doesn't prevail.
01:22So this is a new and additional reason.
01:25But I think it underlines what should be NATO's basic strategy,
01:28which is not to accept unprovoked aggression from Russia or anybody else.
