2025 English Interclub Surfing Championships, Porthtowan, Cornwall, September 6 and 7
Transcript
00:00Welcome to day one of the Interclubs at Porftown for a global gathering of our UK surf scene.
00:10We've got eight clubs bringing 180 surfers to compete in absolutely cooking conditions and
00:17we're going to be running the Open, Women's and then Juniors. It's going to be an amazing weekend.
00:22Enjoy the show.
00:30So what makes the Interclubs so different to your standard surfing event? Well in this
00:42event it's about team surfing. You're going to surf once on Saturday, once on Sunday and
00:47where you finish in your heat is worth points to the team.
00:50Because it's a team event it takes off a lot of the pressure and you can just focus on having
00:55fun and I feel like for me it makes it a bit more like a free surf out there.
00:59You're with all your mates surfing for a team and it's just really cool to surf with everyone
01:06and everyone supporting each other a bit more rather than just like on your own.
01:10We're here at Porftown because the last winner was St. Agnes. Aggie board riders, they took
01:15the win up in Bristol at the Wave and we're down here on their home turf to have the event
01:20where they are based. Who's going to win it this year?
01:22I think it's a really cool event man. It just brings a lot of people and it has different
01:46vibes to a lot of the comics. There's definitely a fun element but it's still pretty serious
01:50at the pointy end.
01:59Okay that's a wrap for the Interclubs 2025. Brought to a close prematurely because of pollution.
02:05We had a heavy rain shower during Sunday and we've had information that sewage has discharged
02:09into the local river and we've had to shut the beach due to the RNLI closing it. If there
02:14was ever a reason to get behind Surfers Against Sewage and make our water authorities accountable
02:19for what they're doing to the network, it is now.
