00:00Well, this is a major breakthrough for Strike Force Pearl, which is a team made up of detectives
00:07established by New South Wales Police to investigate a swathe of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel
00:13attacks which took place across Sydney late last year and into early this year.
00:18Now, the timeline they've been able to build here in relation to these two latest arrests
00:23starts in January of this year, where two people were captured on CCTV, spray painting, swastikas
00:31and other anti-Semitic messages on a synagogue in Sydney South at Allowa.
00:36They quickly then released that CCTV to try and find the people that were involved in this attack.
00:43Now, in June of this year, a 26-year-old man was charged with carrying out that attack.
00:48And then later, about a month later, a second person, a 27-year-old, was also charged in
00:56relation to that anti-Semitic attack, but not charged with carrying out the attack.
01:01In fact, charged with orchestrating it.
01:04Now, New South Wales Police allege that the 27-year-old provided instructions to the 26-year-old
01:10to specifically target this Jewish synagogue in Sydney's South.
01:16Now, that 27-year-old has also been linked to three other anti-Semitic attacks that are
01:21being investigated by Strike Force Pearl.
01:25The first was also, the second, however, otherwise, was also in January, where the former home of
01:32a prominent Jewish leader here in Australia, Alex Rivchin, was targeted, covered in red paint
01:40and multiple cars were spray-painted with anti-Semitic messaging.
01:44Before we saw on CCTV that two men got out of a black sedan and set those four cars alight,
01:52and you see a ball of fire erupt in the middle of that quiet suburban street.
01:56That was the home in Dover Heights, which was previously occupied by Alex Rivchin.
02:01Now, only around four days later, a childcare in Marouba, also in Sydney's east, was firebombed
02:07and essentially destroyed with anti-Semitic message also spray-painted on the front wall
02:13of that building.
02:15A week later, a nearby Jewish school was also targeted with graffiti.
02:20Now, New South Wales Police believe that this 27-year-old is allegedly linked with directing
02:26all four of those anti-Semitic attacks.
02:30He currently remains in custody and will face court in October.
02:33The 26-year-old who was charged over the attack in Alawa, he also remains in custody and will
02:39face court as well in October.
02:41In the meantime, Strike Force Pearl continues this investigation, which also includes several
02:45counter-terrorism detectives.
