00:00Doha, September 9th. Israel launched an airstrike against Hamas leaders in Qatar on Tuesday, expanding its military actions at a range across the Middle East to include the Gulf Arab state, where the Palestinian Islamist group has long had its political base.
00:16Qatar, what has acted as a mediator alongside Egypt in talks on a ceasefire in the almost two-year-old war in Gaza, condemned the attack as cowardly and called a flagrant violation of international law.
00:28Two Hamas sources told Reuters that Hamas officials in the ceasefire negotiating team survived the attack, which followed an evacuation order in Gaza City, where Israel is waging an offensive to try to destroy the group and its military capabilities in the Gaza Strip.
00:44Israeli officials told Reuters the strike was aimed at top Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayah, its exiled Gaza chief and top negotiator.
00:52The attack took place shortly after Hamas armed wing.
00:56The Al-Qasam Brigades claimed responsibility for a shooting that killed six people at a bus stop on the outskirts of Jerusalem on Monday.
01:04The assault is likely to deal with serious, if not fatal, blow to efforts to reach a ceasefire, especially since negotiations took place in the Gulf Arab country, Qatar.
01:14Protests started by Nepal peoples on corruption and government banned on social media who highlighted corruption issues.
01:20Nepal's Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Ali has resigned in the wake of public outrage over the killing of 21 people in police clashes with anti-corruption protesters.
01:30His office said he had stepped down to pave the way for a constitutional solution to the massive youth-led protests over widespread allegations of corruption and sparked by a social media ban, which has since been withdrawn.
01:41The protests turned violent as thousands, many identified themselves as Gen Z on placards and banners, took to the streets of Kathmandu on Monday.
01:51As protesters climbed the walls of the parliament and other official buildings, police used live bullets, tear gas and water cannons, reportedly injuring nearly 200 people.
02:01The protests continued on Tuesday, with demonstrators setting fire to the headquarters of the Nepali Congress Party and the home of former Prime Minister Sherbadur Dobe.
02:11The homes of several other politicians have also been vandalized.
02:16Social media is a big part in Nepali life.
02:19Indeed, the country has one of South Asia's highest user rates per capita.
02:23The demonstrations were triggered by the government's decision last week to ban 26 social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, for failing to meet a deadline to register.
02:36Critics accused the government of seeking to stifle an anti-corruption campaign with the ban, which was repealed on Monday night, while the ban was a catalyst for the current unrest.
02:46Protesters are also channeling a more deep-rooted dissatisfaction with the country's authorities.
