00:00Mr. Speaker, I rise today to offer my support for this year's Energy and Water Development
00:05Appropriations Act. Let me talk about Texas for just a minute. The Texas Gulf Coast boasts 23
00:13commercial seaports, seven of America's largest petroleum refineries, three LNG plants, and 60
00:23percent of the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve. As the energy capital of the world, we understand
00:30the critical importance of this very important, very good bill. Our hardworking families on the
00:37Texas Gulf Coast depend on a robust energy sector, as do most Americans and even other countries
00:43depend on our energy sector. This legislation, Mr. Speaker, will help us to continue to lead in
00:50producing the cleanest, most affordable oil, as well as gas. Many of the projects within this bill
01:00will advance many of President Trump's goals. His goal is to return, and it's working, he's making
01:07progress. We are making progress. His goal is to advance returning to an era of American energy
01:15independence. Let me repeat that. America will be once again energy independent. We will be revitalizing
01:24critical ports. We will be revitalizing the waterways that serve actually as a lifeblood for maintaining
01:33our dominance in the global world, global marketplace. It's just that simple, Mr. Speaker.
01:39This great bill, the energy water appropriations bill, let me tell you what it'll do. It will bolster
01:48our economic strength. It will bolster our economic strength, which suffered the last four years under
01:54the current administration. It will create jobs. It will create jobs that are much needed by Americans.
02:03It will ensure that our infrastructure, America, not just Texas, America's infrastructure.
02:09The gentleman's time has expired. That's two minutes.
02:12Apparently so. Mr. Chairman, I yield the gentleman from Texas an additional minute.
02:17Thank you. He's a good guy, Mr. Speaker. So this is going to create jobs, not just for Texas, but for the
02:25entire nation. Let me say the gentleman across the aisle just mentioned Iran, that somehow this is
02:31going to help make it easier for Iran in the nuclear realm. I think Iran just discovered that President
02:38Donald J. Trump is serious when he says they will not be allowed to get a nuclear weapon. I think they
02:43probably figured that out by now. So I want to end, Mr. Speaker, by saying kudos to the energy and water
02:50appropriations bill under this committee. We appreciate that. The gentleman from Tennessee, I encourage
02:56my colleagues to support this bill as we continue along the path of making America great. Once again,
03:02Mr. Speaker, I yield back.
03:03Mr. Speaker, I yield back.
