00:00Thank you. We'll have time for one last question.
00:03Hi, Prime Minister Terry Roberts, CBC.
00:07In all my travels this weekend, I spoke to a lot of people.
00:10No one talked about tariffs. No one talked about retraining.
00:14All I heard this weekend was the passing of Ken Dryden.
00:18A lot of Montreal Canadian fans in this province.
00:20And I'd like for you to comment, a human moment here.
00:23Tell us what your thoughts on the passing of a legend.
00:25Well, you know, the first thing, I mean, it was tough.
00:32You know, sometimes people who you don't know, and look, I met Ken Dryden very briefly once.
00:40So I felt I know Ken Dryden from his public accomplishments.
00:44I know Ken Dryden from reading the game a couple of times.
00:47I know Ken Dryden from his public service.
00:51And I know Ken Dryden from a lot of people I know who really knew Ken Dryden.
00:56And so when someone like that passes, it's a blow.
01:01At the same time, you think back on their contributions.
01:04I mean, six-time Stanley Cup winner, five-time Besnit Trophy winner.
01:09Someone, as I said, one of the things that struck me when he passed was, you know, when he stepped out.
01:17And I remember as a young kid at the time, and he was my favourite goalie.
01:20He was, you know, my model.
01:22I didn't have his height, didn't have his ability, obviously.
01:25But when he stepped out from the Habs to go back to law school, to article, effectively, you know,
01:32it kind of tells you a different thing about balance in life.
01:36Hockey's not everything, even if you're one of the best players in the world, certainly the best goalie in the world at the time.
01:42And then his subsequent life, life as a public servant and someone who cared passionately about early childhood education,
01:50social factors, and, you know, what came to mind.
01:54And I remember he used to talk about big Canada.
01:57And Ken Dryden, he was big Canada.
01:59He was, in many respects, you know, bigger than us in his hockey, in his career.
02:04But he was a big Canada, and he was best Canada.
02:07He was best at Canada.
02:08So, you know, a tough loss.
02:11But let's draw on what he taught us as Canadians.
02:16Thank you, Chair.
