00:00What's wrong with you? Why you see me in the airport?
00:21Yes ma'am, I need a FAPD at 86...
00:27What was that, 86 what?
00:2986-05
00:31I call the guy, shooting his automatic
00:35Okay, and you have that person detained?
00:37Yes, I do
00:39Okay, we'll get somebody else for you
00:41That's your first part, do you miss?
00:55Yes sir, I came down here to get a cigarette from one of my neighbors and she's in a pile of blood and she's dead
01:10I would kill him, I'm dead, I'm alive
01:21But I don't think it was wrong
01:23The thing inside of me, it's like the appetite
01:27It's like a wolf that's...
01:29It was a crime scene bathed in blood and tears
01:43That's what a police officer said he faced when he arrived at a north side apartment complex
01:47A call for a shooting sent officers to this apartment complex in the pre-dawn hours on the day after the 4th of July
01:53They were met by a woman and several others, all visibly upset
01:57I looked down and I saw a small child with a very gruesome head injury
02:03I took several looks back and forth to my left and my right
02:07That's when I saw the male body
02:09A body later identified as 26 year old John Bones
02:13The child, two and a half year old Anika Gass
02:16Both shot in the head
02:17In an adjoining room was the body of 26 year old Courtney Gass, the child's mother, also shot in the head
02:39Okay, yeah, okie doke
02:55Okay...
02:56Chris, I don't really know what's going on
03:00I, I, uh...
03:02In your own words, Christopher, tell me why you're here talking with me today
03:07The officers told me you were shooting a gun outside your apartment
03:18Were you and Courtney arguing?
03:20I, I remember waking up to her and yelling and screaming
03:24And she had my rifle and she, she grabbed my rifle
03:28And she was in Anika's room and she was walking around and being a dumbass
03:34Here we see Allgood acting like a deer in headlights
03:40But he's acting as if he doesn't know what's going on
03:43Like he's thrown off by the investigator's question
03:45But he's presenting as if he's somebody who's an innocent bystander
03:50Or who knows, maybe even a victim in this situation that he actually created
03:55What happened after that?
03:59I woke up to all that, I don't know what, what was going on
04:04I do remember wrestling the gun away from her
04:08And I, uh, when I walked outside the guy, the, the officer put the, the, his gun to my head
04:16And he, he told me, drop the gun or whatever
04:21And I was like, what, what's going on with me?
04:23And I was, I was, I, I was terrified, I don't think
04:27So you and Courtney were arguing and she got your, she got your gun out
04:31Did she shoot the gun?
04:32I woke up to this, I don't even know
04:35I don't even know what to hear
04:37It looks like Courtney is, is dead in your apartment, Christopher
04:40Oh my god, are you serious?
04:47The superficial nature of Allgood's emotions
04:51The displays of emotion, the sound of emotion
04:54They're inconsistent, they're controlled, they're performative
04:58And what's important to note here is that while there's a high level of emotion
05:03He seems able to turn it on and turn it off as he needs to communicate
05:07And that's just not how traumatized people react
05:12If they're sincere, they don't typically turn on and off like a light switch
05:19Who else was in the apartment, Chris?
05:33Where is he right now?
05:37What?
05:38Where, where is Kevin right now?
05:40He was, he was in my daughter's bedroom, but
05:52You're the only one who walked away from that apartment
05:54So you're the only one I can talk to
06:00I need to understand
06:02My daughter, your daughter's dead
06:05Your daughter's dead and Kevin is dead and Courtney is dead
06:08And Chris, I believe you're the one who killed them
06:14And shoot them lady
06:18What'd she do this?
06:19So just because people have psychopathy doesn't mean that they are brilliant at telling a great
06:27story and making all the facts line up. So it doesn't make any sense that he would go being
06:32from like confused, disoriented, and he has no knowledge of anything. And then we see these
06:38moments of clarity where he's doing something very deliberate. He's making sure it sounds like
06:43he's still a victim, that he does not know anything, and that Courtney is the one who's
06:48committed murder.
06:50Are you trying to tell me that Courtney killed all those people?
06:53No, no, no, she woke up. I had to stop her. That's all I knew.
07:00To the babies, right? What are you saying? Courtney shot herself? You didn't just wake up and walk
07:07outside with a rifle in your hand, Chris. That didn't happen.
07:10Start at the beginning and tell me what happened.
07:19I woke up to that, and I heard the bang. I remember waking up and looking at her.
07:26You heard what bang?
07:30Are you saying Courtney shot your daughter, Chris? You told me you took the gun away from Courtney,
07:35right? You took the gun away from Courtney, but she was still alive, Chris. That's my point to you.
07:44After you shot her, you're trying to push everything on me.
07:49Allgood is getting more and more, you know, animated as time goes on. His voice is rising. He's
07:58getting defensive. We see often that individuals with psychopathy start to get angry or frustrated,
08:04at least, whenever they are no longer in control, or they start to sense that they're losing control.
08:09And I think that's what's happening here with Allgood. He senses that she's not buying his story.
08:14She's not trying to understand him, and he's starting to get aggravated.
08:23We've done a gunshot residue on her hands, Chris. She does not have gunshot residue on her hands,
08:29so she didn't buy that gun.
08:33But I was trying to take it from her, and it did go off, so...
08:37But you didn't bother calling for help. Was your mouth...
08:43No, my dad's been a cop for 16 years. You don't say anything...
08:47When there's three dead bodies in your apartment, Chris, you don't mention that to anybody?
08:52You can say everything you want to, but it's not going to matter...
08:55I didn't do anything wrong. I'm not going to do anything wrong.
09:00And you're going to put me in jail for trying to be the bigger man and trying to do the right thing.
09:07The only reason why I lied to you at first was because I didn't want her to seem like she was a...
09:14The resounding reality is that Allgood is trying to manage impressions.
09:22He's trying to control the narrative that this detective has about who he is as a person.
09:28He's throwing anything and everything against the wall to try and gain credibility.
09:32He's telling her he's the child of law enforcement.
09:35He's telling her that he lied, and somehow by admitting to a lie up front,
09:41that means he's really a truthful person because he's willing to tell on himself.
09:45These various versions of him trying to control how they see him as a suspect
09:50is nothing other than his own willingness to lie chronically and habitually
09:56without thinking about the consequences of what he's saying,
09:59that it can be disproven, that it's inconsistent with what he said five minutes before.
10:03And when he's confronted consistently about the lies and the mistruths,
10:08he becomes more and more glib and grandiose.
10:11I sat on the porch for a little bit.
10:23Everything was cool, and then I remember hearing a gunshot and went back in.
10:29Okay, you heard a gunshot, you went back in.
10:32So now, you may or may not have heard a gunshot that woke you up, but...
10:36I didn't know what to say that before, man.
10:38I remember coming back in, and I grabbed the gun away from him,
10:42and I couldn't believe this that was going on,
10:45and the cops had already got there.
10:47I remember coming back outside...
10:49With the gun in your hand, you're giving me three different versions of what happened.
10:53I didn't give you three.
10:55Yes, you did.
10:56I'm not getting blamed for it.
10:57The truth, you are getting blamed for it because you did it.
11:01I'm just trying to understand why you did it, Chris.
11:04That's justice to the American populace.
11:07You're actually guilty into a proven answer.
11:12Despite this insurmountable evidence that's piling up against him,
11:17Allgood is almost doubling down.
11:20He's tripling down and saying, no, no, no.
11:23It's a very unsophisticated approach to engaging with humans
11:28and into accepting responsibility.
11:31And in this case, he's failing to accept responsibility,
11:34and he's doing so in any manner he can think of.
11:47Your girlfriend has a gunshot wound to the head, okay?
11:51That's from the side.
11:53She couldn't have put that rifle to her head and pulled the trigger.
11:56The angle is impossible.
11:59The witnesses didn't hear two gunshots and then a pause
12:03while you had time to wrestle with Courtney over the gun
12:07and then the gun accidentally going off.
12:09There was no break between the three gunshots.
12:12You want me to believe she just got up
12:15and decided to shoot your daughter for no reason?
12:18See, that's what you want me to believe.
12:20But you don't.
12:20How ridiculous is that?
12:22How ridiculous is that?
12:24But for some reason, this time, this night,
12:35something was different.
12:37Something happened.
12:40Everything, we've been fine.
12:43Everything has been fine.
12:44Okay.
12:45Everything's been fine right now.
12:47Evidently not, because she's dead.
12:50So we didn't get over everything.
12:53Everything was not fine.
12:55Don't try to sell that to me.
12:57Everything was not fine.
12:58I'm not going to tell you anything.
12:59He's being a little bit honest.
13:02He's opening up.
13:03I think that's to create the impression of,
13:06well, he is being honest.
13:07He's a little vulnerable.
13:09There might be something sympathetic here.
13:11He might have been victimized in some way, right?
13:14I think it's still in the big picture purpose
13:17of trying to manipulate the interviewers
13:19to get them away from the hostile view of him
13:22to something that's more sympathetic.
13:26You told me earlier that you guys wrestled
13:29with a gun and it accidentally went off.
13:32That's what you told me earlier.
13:33No, I didn't say that.
13:34Yeah, you did.
13:35No, you were trying to get me to say that
13:37and I told you that's not what happened.
13:38No, I asked you if that...
13:40I would not have said something like that.
13:44You've not cried for this baby one time, Chris.
13:48I've been crying all the s**t.
13:49No, you've been crying for yourself.
13:51You've not been crying for this baby.
13:54Everything that you've said here today
13:55has been self-serving.
13:57It's all about you.
13:59It's all about you since you walked into the door.
14:03That's why you're willing to blame a murder victim
14:06for what happened.
14:09They tried to stab me.
14:12I did shoot her.
14:13I'm sorry.
14:14I'm sorry if I'm lying to you.
14:17I don't give a s**t about me.
14:18I just didn't know how to s**t look like that.
14:24I'm sorry.
14:25I felt like I had to do what I had to do.
14:27I didn't know what else to do.
14:31Yeah, but she tried to s**t stab me.
14:33I've let her pee in my s**t before
14:35and I felt like I deserved it.
14:37I don't even know why.
14:39I've always been selfless like that, man.
14:41So he's not able to intimidate the detective
14:46into agreeing to his view of reality.
14:49So he morphs his strategy a little bit
14:51and then he finally goes,
14:52okay, yeah, so I did shoot her.
14:53But she came at me with the knife.
14:57Psychopaths, the manipulative part
14:59is gaslighting other people
15:00and controlling how they view things.
15:03You have to remember,
15:03this is not a man who's deep in mourning
15:05and in psychological distress about that.
15:09This is a man who knows he's in the room
15:11and he's got to figure out
15:13how to play the odds as best as he can
15:15to get the best outcome
15:18he can get from the detective.
15:19She didn't come at you with a knife.
15:31What did she do?
15:32Yes, she did.
15:34And she had it at my throat at one point
15:36and then we calmed the s**t down
15:38and I thought everything was okay.
15:40And then she started back up again
15:41because of the whole,
15:43if I get a job,
15:46she doesn't want me to work certain hours.
15:49And I'm like,
15:50I gotta get a job in order of what, okay?
15:55Every s**t time we got into an argument,
15:57I can't conduct my own business with,
16:01we have females and people that come in
16:03and record and sing and stuff
16:07and she gets so s**t jealous.
16:09Like, that's how it all started.
16:20Chris, what I'm trying to get you to understand is
16:22we sat here and believed you
16:25about everything that you're telling us,
16:27but when we point out facts to you,
16:31you come up with a story like this
16:33that makes no sense.
16:34But do you see how ridiculous this sounds?
16:39No.
16:40You don't.
16:40I can, I, no, I can understand why,
16:42but I'm, I'm telling you,
16:44I f*****g got it.
16:44I mean, if you remember doing this,
16:47did you do anything with fine motor skills?
16:50No, no, no, no.
16:51Until I bring up the fact
16:54that there's an inconsistency in your story
16:56and then you change.
16:59I didn't even mean to shoot her.
17:00I ain't rubbing it in,
17:02I'm trying to make a point.
17:03You had to rassle her out of your daughter's room
17:05with a gun.
17:08And you didn't go back and check me.
17:12What the f*****g?
17:15It's in my bad f*****g ass, isn't it?
17:19It's either that or you're a murderer.
17:23What we know from a review of the record
17:25is that there is some indication and evidence
17:28that Courtney actually was getting ready to leave
17:30and take their toddler daughter with her.
17:33So something happened in that apartment
17:35that led to Allgood's ego being bruised.
17:38He was somehow humiliated.
17:40He was confronted.
17:41Something happened that caused him to flip.
17:44And when he flipped,
17:46it became about him versus the world.
17:49Him being a father didn't matter.
17:51His daughter didn't take priority over his needs.
17:53And when you see narcissistic individuals like that,
17:57they can't handle rejection.
17:58They can't handle their ego being wounded.
18:01And so they don't have any choice
18:02but to annihilate the source of that wound.
18:04Christopher Allgood is on trial for murder.
18:33Prosecutors say they will show expert testimony
18:36later in the trial,
18:37proving that Allgood's fingerprints
18:39were on the trigger of the assault rifle,
18:41a rifle they say was used to kill all three victims.
18:45Do you want to f***ing die?
18:57Do you want to f***ing die?
19:00He cocked the gun and pushed the gun up against my face
19:02and said,
19:03I'm going to splatter your brains
19:04out all over this room
19:07and I'm not going to go back.
19:10I'm going to kill you
19:11and I'm going to kill myself
19:12because I'm never going to go back to jail again.
19:14Standing there with them holding me
19:15with a knife against my stomach like that,
19:17he proceeded to grab me
19:21and hold a knife to my throat
19:22and I started screaming at that point
19:25because I was very scared.
19:31We know that Allgood's history
19:33of domestic violence is well established.
19:36He spent 10 days in jail
19:37for pleading no contest to terrorist threats.
19:40In 2003,
19:41while the charges were dropped,
19:42ultimately because his then-girlfriend
19:44declined to cooperate or press charges,
19:47he was also arrested
19:48for pointing a shotgun at her.
19:50He is a domestic violence perpetrator
19:52and this is somebody
19:53who doesn't know how to regulate his anger.
19:57He doesn't know how to manage being left or rejected.
20:01But ultimately,
20:01what Allgood never really takes responsibility for
20:03is this pattern of violence
20:05he engages in with several women.
20:07This is not something
20:08that just cropped up in this relationship.
20:11It just became the most brutal and most fatal.
20:33It wouldn't kill somebody.
20:36It wouldn't be right.
20:37The sexual psychopath
20:38has no boundary or limits
20:40to what they will do
20:42to harm another person.
20:43You've covered her whole face in duct tape.
20:47Everything to freeze.
