00:00Good evening and welcome to the Spenkammer Memorial Ground here out at Folking, home of Preston Nomads.
00:08I've got Archie Lennon with me at Sussex and here at the Nomads.
00:13He's been with the Nomads for about three or four seasons now and we're very, very proud to have him.
00:17We've just been talking off air there. Archie, you've had a really good season here at the Nomads.
00:23How has that all gone for you?
00:25I've loved it again. It's been really enjoyable to play with these boys.
00:29It's a great bunch of lads. We've obviously got a very good side here.
00:33I love playing on my Saturdays here. It's a great club. I've really enjoyed it.
00:38You've had a couple of really good knocks at the bat.
00:40You were the first Nomad ton in the league this season back in June and you had another one quite recently.
00:47You must have really enjoyed those two knocks.
00:49I love my batting. It's something I've always really enjoyed.
00:53It's really nice to get the opportunity here. I've been batting at full season which has been really nice for me.
00:59It's been really good to play here on good pitches. I've really enjoyed it.
01:04Your Sussex career. There's been times this year when you've been on the sidelines.
01:11I'm sure you've been training hard and working hard with Paul and James on your game.
01:19And you've got a huge opportunity in the Metro Bank this season.
01:23A five for Edgbaston. How enjoyable was that?
01:27Yeah, it was incredibly special. I've had a few fourfers for the club but the first five was an amazing feeling.
01:34Especially in a winning scenario which is always nice.
01:38But yeah, it's probably the proudest moment I've had in my career so far.
01:42So yeah, it was really enjoyable.
01:44Yeah. There was one other time, if you've just got a touch upon, where a lot of people who might listen to this was probably at the ground.
01:53It was the second game in, Arundel.
01:56You might recall that there was a huge crowd in and everybody was over-celebrating.
02:03It was a wonderful experience to be there that day.
02:07Arundel is always a special place to watch cricket and no doubt play, I would imagine.
02:13You got picked. It was against Kent and then later on in the second innings, Kent was slightly getting on top.
02:22And you went to bat number seven or eight, I believe, and something special happened.
02:26Just talk me through that.
02:28Yeah, it was really nice.
02:29It's something I probably haven't showed too much in my first team career so far, is my batting.
02:35So yeah, it was really nice to get an opportunity, obviously.
02:38I think we might have needed 80, maybe not quite as many as that, to win.
02:42But obviously at seven, eight and over.
02:44But yeah, it was nice to go out.
02:46Walked out there with Jack Carson at the upper end, who's a good mate of mine.
02:49Which calmed the nerves down a little bit, because obviously there was a bit of pressure on us.
02:53We'd lost the first game.
02:55And yeah, it was really enjoyable.
02:56It was a good crowd there.
02:58And yeah, I guess we played well throughout it.
03:01Started scoring a few boundaries.
03:03I got incredibly pumped up at the end there.
03:05After hitting my second professional six, which got me going a bit.
03:09But yeah, it was a really enjoyable day.
03:11And yeah, I absolutely loved every second of it.
03:14Well, for me, and I've watched a hell of a lot of Sussex cricket.
03:19That was my champagne moment of the season.
03:22That six, it came just at the right moment.
03:26Everybody was on their feet.
03:28Everybody was going doodlally around me.
03:30That six epitomised that day, if I'm honest.
03:33And we went on to win the game.
03:35That must have been a lovely feeling doing it in front of your home crowd.
03:38Yeah, it's amazing.
03:39Yeah, I absolutely loved it.
03:40Because I hadn't played, well, obviously I hadn't played all season for the club.
03:44So it was nice to get that opportunity.
03:46And in front of the home crowd, it's always nice to perform.
03:49Especially at Arundel, we don't play there much.
03:51It's the first first team game I played there in my career.
03:54So yeah, it was always special.
03:57And that six as well was nice.
03:59There was an over we targeted because I think we needed maybe 21 off the last three overs,
04:04something like that.
04:05So we thought if we could take that over down, obviously we'd win the game of cricket.
04:09So it was nice to do it.
04:11It was nice to have that plan and actually it come off.
04:14So yeah.
04:15Well done for that.
04:16That was a phenomenal moment in the season.
04:20So for everybody at that ground, every single Sussex supporter, thank you for that.
04:25Going forward now, Archie, the summer season here is, I'd imagine, nearly over.
04:31Especially club cricket.
04:33It was the last league game today.
04:35There's three Sussex, very important Sussex league games.
04:39Nobody's certain who's going to get picked or anything.
04:42But what are you going to do in the winter?
04:44In the winter, so our overseas here at Nomads actually plays for a club called Newcastle,
04:50where Ollie Carter has been, who's obviously plays for Sussex.
04:53And I'm going to go join him, be the overseas at that club.
04:56I played a couple of games for them in last winter.
05:00I was over in Sydney, but I hopped over to playing their T20 comp a few times.
05:04So I'm going to join him for probably five months, which should be really enjoyable.
05:09They've got good facilities there where I can get good training in and obviously play the games on Saturdays and Sundays.
05:14So that's Newcastle, New South Wales, just above Sydney, is it?
05:17Yeah.
05:18It took me about two hours to get there from Sydney.
05:21Wow.
05:22I mean, that's exciting.
05:24You're going to have five months in Australia playing cricket.
05:26Yeah, it's going to be awesome.
05:27Very much looking forward to it.
05:29Chasing the sun again, which should be nice.
05:32But yeah, it's a lovely place.
05:34Obviously I spent a few days there last winter and yeah, it was really enjoyable.
05:39Well, good luck with that.
05:42Hopefully you'll come back to the Nomads Fit and Strong next April and we'll go back to this Sussex Premier League
05:49and hopefully we'll go stronger with that again this season, next season.
05:54But from everybody here, congratulations on a wonderful season, both here and at Sussex.
06:00Hopefully we'll all be looking out to see if you might get picked for these last three games.
06:04But other than that, enjoy your winter and we'll see you next season.
06:08Please go, bye.
