11:24lucas coonan in this first race so far he's currently three seconds clear of jeffrey hurlings
11:32davide dikali we saw lucas coonan win the qualifying race yesterday he's now leading the way now
11:37so far so good he's looking pretty comfortable out there yeah i'm really i'm really happy because
11:41finally we got back we got back good starts uh we have work uh in italy we make some tests and looks
11:48like we we improve on the start so um he's really fast at the moment uh actually all four riders is
11:55really fast um this lap i think you make uh a park for sector and uh but also the other four riders
12:04they're really pushing and you know it's really an intense race uh i hope it will stay like this
12:10and we we can get uh more points as possible so what so what was the problem with lucas's starts
12:16what was the problem with lucas's starts no it was not a really really problem we just need
12:22kind of uh reset because uh from now we have 12 hole shots in the in the championship so it's
12:30really good so we need to continue like this and try to keep this space in the end of the team thank you
12:38lucas kieran and three and a half seconds clear jeffrey hurlings the belgian lapping quicker than
12:46that time around by about three or four tenths see that's the gap i can't even see hurlings 3.8 now
12:53the gap as hurlings goes through the end of sector two fernandez has found his way past jonas
12:59takes over that sixth position he was closing wasn't he all of the time so the 70 find his way past the 41
13:05one into that sixth place here's how he did it turn five jonas tried to get it oh i tried to lean on
13:16him didn't he but fernandez roughing him up got better drive on the exit
13:22was that a little uh bye gesture there just say sorry buddy but racing's racing so is rubbing
13:27fernandez up into sixth place he's only four seconds down on maxime renault lapping quicker
13:37than the frenchman as well talking about lapping quicker lucas kunin has just put the fastest lap
13:41of the racing on lap six 154 667 everybody else behind him in that second third four all in the 56
13:48territories which means hurlings now almost five seconds behind lucas kunin geyser can't afford to
13:55switch off just like the qualifying race on saturday these two fighting over that third place fevre found
14:02his way at the halfway point into third and he'll be going after hurlings just like he did in the
14:10qualifying race as well so this race mirroring what we saw in the qualifying race for now at least in
14:17the first seven laps fevre trying to go high and wide around the turn gets good drive see how things tighten
14:23up for guys rizzy holds that inside line he can hear roman fevre right there behind him just wonder if
14:30guys is just suffering with that a little bit of arm pump again at the moment
14:37fevre looking over his shoulder thinks okay how far is the next rider well the answer is about 14
14:43seconds it's maxime renault how dry and slick it is there the back end there's that transfer fevre neatly to the
14:50inside and he goes past moves past guys are into third place
15:00clear track out of him three seconds up the track jeffrey hurlings the gap will be five points gained by

15:15saw that a lot in the mx 250 race no one doing mx2 fevre using that line beautifully the finest way past

15:25right seven laps complete lucas kunan still lapping in 54s hurlings across the line now 56 fevre 56 geiser 58.6
15:4310 seconds separate 10.6 separating try that again put my teeth in 10.6 seconds separate the first four
15:54but crucially for roman fevre he's now got clear track looking to go after jeffrey hurlings the gap
16:01between those two three seconds he's got more time in order to do that didn't have that time yesterday
16:06when he found his way into third the gap was a little bit bigger as well in the end settled for
16:11third only losing two points to lucas kunan this time around though if he settles for third he's going
16:16to lose five to the rider that's closest to him in the championship chase hence the urgency now from the
16:23number three usually likes circuit conditions when they get hard and slick like this can get a little
16:32bit loose where other riders maybe don't feel so comfortable maxime renault a steady grand prix for
16:39him so far fifth in the qualifying race fifth in this opening race at the moment just looking to ride
16:46himself back into some kind of solid form in these riding in these remaining three rounds but maxime renault
16:53monster in his yamaha not been a great season for him it got off to a flying start didn't it when he was
16:57victorious at the opening round in argentina then he broke his hand and it was all up
17:02and down all over the place there was a couple of times when he came close to a podium fourth in
17:06that spain round eight and again in germany a couple rounds later before uh he decided to sit
17:12out after that big crash and the injuries that he picked up in switzerland forced him out of the
17:17season well out of the championship for a bit anyway but certainly out of the title race
17:23jonath's under attack from the number 10 of calvin vallana and these two fighting over seventh
17:27place with just under 13 minutes plus two laps to go
17:35count deep those ruts are that's one thing that you don't really get to appreciate from tv
17:41until you go over there and stand in them some of those knee high
17:44vallandran similar lap time to jonas last time around but looking to make its move here on the
18:00kawasaki rider
18:01is going to say does get around the outside but jonas read the situation covered the move
18:11and that's exactly what vallana is going to try and do here just try and get on the fat part of the
18:14tire on the exit of the corner a few years ago now though wasn't it but the start how we used to
18:21to re-emerge more on that in a moment vallana and rainy outside of jonas as he does take over that seventh place
18:35but where you cross the finish line now you've got that 180 right left back onto the start straight
18:40used to be a chicane and jonas and prado having their shindig there when they were fighting for the
18:46championship in 18. jonas came off worse picked up a knee injury wasn't able to finish the season
19:01and calvin valandran here another rider transferring looks like jonas may have just
19:06tried that followed him through for the first time
19:08valandran almost took in the front there in that right hander see how quickly the circuit's drying
19:17out you know what's going to happen though don't you gonna have a one hour break
19:23now just moisten the ground a little bit ahead of race two probably
19:29so valandran who's found his way into seventh tried to go outside and cut back but obviously jonas
19:36will beat him to the exit just here that's where he tried to square off and again
19:43but then he's got that berm to get over but then as he got out of turn one just ran down the outside
19:48of jonas who's got history in this corner as well believe it or not when it used to be a bank turn
19:55valandran an easy move around the outside in the end into seventh
19:58now goes after fernandez the gap between those two fernandez and valandran 3.9 seconds fernandez
20:08marginally quicker that time around though lucas kunan up front leading the way
20:14more than 600 laps completed now in this mxgp championship campaign that was reached on uh well three laps ago
20:28lucas kunan coming into here this weekend having led 231 of those laps has led the last nine as well
20:42so 240 laps in the books at the front of the field in his rookie season for the number 96
20:49looking to turn it into 25 points and race win number 13 for the season if he stays there not bad
20:59going that is it yeah pantser putting himself in the shop window once again he's in that ninth place
21:07if you follow our behind the gate series on our platform then of course you know that we followed
21:12him a couple of rounds ago and you get to see how privateer this kid is not just a word
21:17it's a lifestyle the camper small camper as well him mum and dad little trailer on the back bikes in the
21:23back
21:27but it works for him and his team the jp253 ktm racing team rider from slovenia just starting to
21:33find his feet now in mxgp as well 11th in the championship yes he's 69 points down on sea we're
21:38coming into this weekend but wouldn't love to uh finish 10th would love the fact you're right i'm sure but

21:50for the wannabe factory races very much privateer races jan panzer
21:55guadagnini closing in on him there's the 93 iago kietz as well on the 93
21:58so this battle 9 10th and 11th place cold enough two seconds further back then bonacorsi still not
22:04able to find his way past his teammate he's slipped four seconds further back behind the dutchman
22:09watson having issues he's uh down in 21st place at the moment his teammate tom cock in 19th
22:23watson wasn't really at the races yesterday either 19th in the qualifying race
22:31in terms of time practice he struggled as well 20th position so maybe the altitude
22:36not doing the mrt beta team any favors here because it is crucial when you're more than a thousand
22:43meters up performance gets compromised somewhat that might just be the issue
22:48but some of the riders and teams here this weekend certainly watson
22:57anyway jeffy hurlings he puts his best lap in last time around 155
23:02was two or three tenths quicker than lucas kunan but the gap still more than five and a half seconds
23:11as we reach seven minutes plus two laps to go
23:16gap going out to six seconds then as he hits the line this time around
23:30kunan a full second quicker than hurlings fevre not able to make any inroads despite
23:35despite being a second quicker than hurlings last time around that gap still 3.1 seconds
23:40looking like he's going to be losing five more points here the fighting frenchman
23:46going to be down to 24 as we head into race two less than a race win
23:55watch this here the transfer up onto the ridge neatly across down the inside of geisha that was for third
24:02that was on lap seven four laps to go
24:03guys are not in the championship fight either so no real reason there just to
24:13halt the progress of the number three
24:18gap coming down to less than three seconds though between hurlings and fevre so maybe
24:22there's going to be a little sprinkling of fairy dust
24:26from the frenchman in the latter stages of this race
24:29so quick if you get that transfer right isn't it outside inside you get another split at the end of
24:37the wave section but it looks like that gap between hurlings and fevre just starting to reduce slightly
24:433.2 at the moment even if it goes to less than that it's 2.7 that's a massive gain over the last couple of laps
24:50still hovering three seconds so there was a couple of tenths game that was nicely done wasn't it ran into
25:02difficulties up on the pegs just dabbed his leg just to get him out of trouble
25:06he won't think of it as a problem but just the technique of the rider through there stood up in that right-hand turn
25:11literally thinking on his feet at that moment in time

25:28geyser across the line now 6.8 adrift in fourth place here he is the 243 honda hrc rider
25:35yesterday had four arms like popeye
25:44normally you can get rid of that once you've had it that one time qualifying race more of a sprint race if you like
25:53but when you think you've been off the bike
25:56nine rounds before re-emerging in sweden and then holland so that's two races
26:06again no substitute for being in racing conditions you can do all the laps you like on your training
26:10ground and place you know very well maybe other tracks where you continue to test
26:16i'm not sure if he's continuing to test this late in the season season with three to go
26:20but either way you do your motos you do your training
26:27you just have a comfort zone don't you get on the race those nerves that little bit of anticipation
26:33catches up with you renault under pressure from fernandez this an opportunity fernandez to gain
26:40another point on koldanov in that fight for third in the championship he's not scared is he outside
26:46inside cut back didn't even blink transfer yeah closes the door shuts down the attack from renault
26:53fernandez up into fifth place
27:04good winner riding that from the honda man
27:0817 and a half seconds behind his teammate so honda hrc fourth and fifth with geyser and fernandez now
27:15maximum renault who's been sat there in that fifth position on his own and no one really to sort of
27:22follow and pick up lines and things like that hopefully with the way that fernandez is riding
27:28maximum renault we can just sit there and go you know what let's see what he's doing why did he catch
27:31me why was he able to get around me or up the inside of me so quickly and so decisively
27:3613 laps complete for these two fernandez put his quickest lap in last time around does it again
27:46this time around goes from 57 to a 55.62 that's only a second off of lucas kunan's best lap which was
27:53so fernandez up to fifth renault six volana and eight seconds further back in seven and with two
28:09minutes plus two laps to go it's pretty much how it might finish jonas in eighth panza in nine guadagnini
28:16ten get 11 cold enough 12 bonacors in 13 let's see we're gifting bogus tomcock bandonic watson back
28:22into 19 and quentin prunier the honda motor blues sr motel rider there's kunan heading into the waves
28:30there's hurlings then fevra fevra getting that gap down to 2.9 but still hovering around that three
28:37three point one or two second mark see what it is at the end of the straight here though because this
28:42is the end of sector three any moment now it was 2.9 2.2 fevra got hurlings in his sights all of a
28:50sudden with three laps to go
28:53and when you can see that rider ahead of you guess what you find another gear you dig a little
29:08deeper especially when you know the championship is on the line can't afford to lose those points
29:14when you've got this rider just hovering 2.1 seconds in front of you with three to go
29:23the gap would be 24 points started as 31 at the start of the weekend
29:39you'd rather it be 26 if you can find your way past hurlings as you go into race two
29:46and then see what happens after that in the second race
29:53the gap continues to hover around 2.1 fevra with his best lap of the race late on 55.6
30:11these two picking up the pieces from their championship battle from 2021 what an epic season
30:25that was remember three races three riders three points was the tagline wasn't it between
30:32fevra geyser and hurlings and this race played its part as well because race two fevra was leading the way
30:39that little transfer section where you go right left he stumbled went from first to four those points
30:46would have been crucial in that championship fight that would have seen him in the end
30:53hypothetically of course be crowned world champion for that second time so this one he doesn't want
30:58to let slip away 10 years between titles if he can nail this one down in 2025 but
31:06roman fevra all too aware of that lucas kunan not the sentimental type he's young dumb full of fun
31:14he's not dumb he's very very intelligent it's just a saying i just changed one of the other lines
31:30one of the other words in there i'm sure you can sense which one
31:33but he's enjoying his riding and as far as rookie seasons go you know what on his way to a potential
31:4313th race win
31:44it gets close then loses a little bit time hurlings making it difficult for the red plate holder
31:58to advance any further
32:00lighten at the back end at will
32:16still pushing a decent pace these guys aren't they got no choice but to do that
32:22kuno looks like he's controlling the race from the front as he has done from the very first lap
32:30the gap still two and a half seconds between hurlings and fevra
32:45doesn't look a lot does it
32:49where you get on the gas where you stay on the gas where you break where you shift
32:54how you approach the turn all those things have a a bearing on how you may gain or lose time into
33:05the final lap then and the gap finally comes down below two seconds 1.7 between hurlings and
33:12fevra hurlings last time around at 56-2 55-8 as he left it too late here roman fevra bit of a stutter
33:19there in that turn as he re-emerges onto the start straight
33:24hurlings tantalizingly close to the frenchman
33:32middle finger on the clutch lever there just as he feathers it on the way out of the turn
33:42a little bit of a boost if he needs it just to control the rear wheel spin
33:45if it starts to get a little bit out of control
33:50look at those ruts there on the face of that single
33:54where they then launch spring into a double
33:58again losing another couple of tenths to the bullet
34:06lucas kunan has been immaculate
34:07this might be close you know because that's your gap now
34:23get good drive out of here you might give yourself half a chance
34:30meanwhile renault and philandrin the two factory yamaha teammates
34:34fighting over sixth place rule number one and all that
34:40beat your teammate
34:50yeah fevra still 1.9 behind hurlings wasn't able to capitalize
34:54in that third sector over the line though winning race number one lucas kunan 13 race wins now in his rookie season
35:04and then we wait for fernandez who will be fifth
35:18this battle's still not done yet though in that fight for sixth place maxime renault and
35:22calvin calvin calvin valandrin valandrin putting his best lap of the race in last time around
35:291.57 zero compared to a 59.9 goes up the inside can't find a way through
35:36drag race to the line between these two but it's going to be renault out of the final turn on the 959
35:41who holds on for that sixth place valandrin seventh
35:45we wait for jonas he's about eight or nine seconds further back in eighth panzer and guadagnini should
35:52round out the top 10
35:52but that gap between roman fevra and lucas kunan start of the weekend it was 31 points
