00:00Well, I know this is absolutely a whirlwind, but has it hit now that you guys are definitely playing in a Super Bowl here in New Orleans?
00:05Oh, yeah, man. Just seeing all this, it's new to me.
00:08You know, I had two natties where we had media come in and talk to us, but right now you can't even move around, so you see the difference.
00:15It's fun. I'm enjoying the experience.
00:17Absolutely, and you mentioned the experience you had with the national championships.
00:20How much are you going to rely on that, that you've been on big stages before?
00:24Oh, yeah, you know, I've been on big stages before, two natties.
00:26In them two games, I've been pretty calm, you know, and at the end of the day, the goal was to win them games, and, you know, our team got that dub, and for right now, that's a goal for this week, you know, win the Super Bowl.
00:37Right, absolutely, and that is the main mission.
00:39You guys have told us that all last week, that there is still a game to be played on Sunday, but how do you balance, obviously, this is a business trip, you want to win this game, but also experiencing this and enjoying it as well?
00:49It's different, you know, but like I said, going through two natties, seeing what I've seen, you know, it just keeps me calm.
00:55Yeah, I think, I think that's pretty much it, you know, I've been through this, even though, not a Super Bowl, but I've been through two natties, and it's just, it's new to, not new to me, but I don't really know, like, it's different, I really don't know about it.
01:07It's an overwhelming experience, that's for sure, but you guys were able to get a workout in, I saw the Saints facility today, you had a great week of practice, how confident are you in this defensive game plan coming up here?
01:17I'm very confident, Coach Vic got us here, and I'm pretty sure he's going to finish us off right.
01:22And is there any secret sauce to stopping Patrick Mahomes, have you found it yet?
01:26Oh no, I can't speak on it, you know, one thing is to sack him, you know, that's the main thing, but, you know, if we do that, or get him off his game, I feel like we'll have a good game.
01:36Jalen, enjoy it.
01:38We are here with Jordan Davis, media night, what a whirlwind that entrance is, I guess it hits now that you really are here at a Super Bowl.
01:44Yeah, you know, you know, it's nice for the theaters and the celebration and everything, but we are really here with a mission on our mind, you can feel the energy in his brooms, pulsing, and, you know, we're just ready to get out there.
01:55And you mentioned the mission on your mind, it's very key that this is a business trip, you guys have told us that now for the past week, but how hard is it to balance a business trip and obviously wanting to win this game,
02:05with also soaking in the moment that very few get to experience something like this?
02:08Definitely, and we were talking earlier about counting our blessings, just the amazing opportunity we have in front of us.
02:13And, you know, when you have an opportunity to go out there and show the world what you can do at a grandest stage in national football, it's very emotional, very sweet,
02:24but at the end of the day, you still got a game to play, you know, all these celebrations all lead up to the game that you actually have to play.
02:31So, you know, at the end of the day, we just got to get our minds right, you know,
02:34we handle things how we handle it, enjoy the moment, by far enjoy the moment, but at the end of the day,
02:39we've got something that we're looking forward to.
02:41Yes, it is key to remember that there is actually a game still going on, and I know that game, that key will be handling Patrick Mahomes.
02:47What's the secret? Is there one?
02:50It's no secret. He's a very dynamic player, utmost respect.
02:54I mean, obviously, I'm sure that's across the league, but at the end of the day, we just have to do our jobs
02:59and just do the same things we've been doing all year.
03:01You know, you don't want to do too much.
03:03You want to stick to the rivers and lakes that you're used to, and then, you know, you just got to do what you got to do.
03:07And you mentioned doing the same you've been doing all year.
03:09If there's one thing you want this defense to continue to do on Sunday, what would it be?
03:14Have fun. Have fun.
03:16And I think that's an important thing that we've been doing all year is having fun with this.
03:19And, you know, from the motions where we get a big hit to everything, man, like, you know, this has been a fun year.
03:26And, you know, we haven't got this far without having fun.
03:29So, at the end of the day, if there's anything that we should do, let's have fun in this game.
03:33Jordan, thanks so much.
03:35I am here with Quinion Mitchell, who is just loving this evening.
03:39This is a dream to him, talking to all of this media.
03:41But I got to imagine it is pretty surreal to be in this moment.
03:44I just saw Cooper Dejean on the video board.
03:46I mean, to be here as a rookie, what's it been like?
03:49I mean, it's been, you know, fun.
03:50It's been an experience.
03:51I was just taking it all in.
03:52And I know you guys were able to get a workout in.
03:55How much are you able to focus on the normalcy of playing a football game here Sunday?
03:59I mean, a lot.
04:00You know, before the week, the veterans just told me just limit distractions, just focus on football.
04:04And Slay did tell me that he was going to have a conversation with you about how to handle this week.
04:08Did you have that conversation?
04:10Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:11Like I said, he just said eliminate distractions, just focus on football.
04:14And with this defensive game plan, at least Jordan Milado was telling me only half of the offensive game plan is implemented right now.
04:19You guys are taking advantage of these two weeks before this game.
04:22How confident are you in this defense going against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs?
04:26I mean, I'm just confident.
04:27You know, I know everybody going to step up and just do their job.
04:30We're just going to play as one.
04:31I love it.
04:31Thank you, Q.
04:33Jack Stoll is a teammate of mine.
04:35He was with the Eagles for a few years.
04:37I played with him in Nebraska.
04:39And I was the best man at his wedding this last season, or offseason.
04:42Okay.
04:42And so he had a mullet and he was going to have it for the wedding.
04:45So I was like, I'm just going to grow it out until I get the mullet.
04:48And so I cut it right before the wedding, surprised him, and I've had it since.
04:52So probably after the Super Bowl, I'm probably going to cut it off.
04:55But I don't know.
04:56It feels good on me.
04:58I will say that.
04:59I really like it.
05:00I was going to say, this is part of your superpower now.
05:03I don't know.
05:03It's part of your identity.
05:04Are you really thinking about going without?
05:06I don't know.
05:07I am a big fan of it.
05:08We'll see.
05:09Okay.
05:10I've got to ask you about your health.
05:11How are you feeling?
05:12I'm feeling a lot better than I was.
05:14I know there's only so much you can say.
05:16You're feeling improbable for a game day or what?
05:21I don't really speak on injuries or status reports or clothes.
05:26So I don't know.
05:28But you know what?
05:28I'm here standing doing media.
05:30So, I mean, that's positive.
05:32So you must be in good shape.
05:34Yeah.
05:35Hey, so we've gotten some really good impressions of your great O-line coach
05:39from Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson.
05:42Can you give us your impression of Jeff Stoutman?
05:46Oh, God.
05:48I don't know if I can do it without cussing or saying something I shouldn't say.
05:51We'll bleep it out.
05:52They had to bleep it, too.
05:57One time he told me, I think it was my rookie camp, he was like,
06:03Hey, Cam, when you're thinking you're getting better
06:06and you think you're learning everything
06:09and you're thinking you can do the blocks right, this and that,
06:12and you see that light at the end of the tunnel, you see that light?
06:15It's not a light.
06:16It's a f***ing train, and it's me, and I'm going to keep coming,
06:18and I'm going to keep, you know, harping on you until you get everything right.
06:22And so I was like, all right, well, there's no light at the end of the tunnel.
06:24Nothing's ever going to get better.
06:26You just got to keep fighting.
06:28That's pretty good.
06:29I guess so.
06:29I don't know if it was great.
06:31It's pretty good.
06:31All right, go.
06:32It's pretty good.
06:32What did they say?
06:36Yeah.
06:37That was all right.
06:38They went into that and couldn't understand half of it.
06:41Something like that.
06:43How legendary is Jeff Stallone and things he teaches all of you?
06:47I mean, I don't really think of, like, in terms of that,
06:52I just think, like, he's our dad and we're his kids,
06:55and we've got to make him happy and please him and play well
06:59and keep getting better.
07:01It's just a fun room to be a part of.
07:03I mean, no one's going to fall asleep in a room like that.
07:06Everybody enjoys being there.
07:10O-linemen love being next to each other.
07:12We love getting coached.
07:14It's fun to be a part of.
07:16Yep.
07:17I'm out here and play in front of everybody in the world,
07:20so it'll be awesome.
07:21I know you guys are really trying to stay loose and stay cool.
07:25You know, you've had a game plan that got you here,
07:26so I'm going to just ask a couple of fun questions.
07:29New Orleans is known as the Big Easy.
07:31If you had to think of a player on the team that kind of fits being called the Big Easy,
07:35who would you say that is?
07:37Big Easy?
07:37Probably Jordan Davis.
07:40It would have to be my choice.
07:42He's kind of a big guy, chill guy, funny guy, so probably him.
07:47The French Quarter, you know, it's all about hanging out, having a good time,
07:50a lot of music.
07:51People go there to have fun.
07:52If you had to go out into the French Quarter with teammates,
07:56who would you want to hang out with in the French Quarter?
07:58Reed Blankenship.
08:00Easy.
08:00Yeah, we are.
08:00Easy.
08:01I mean, that's my guy.
08:02I'd go anywhere with him.
08:04Fun time?
08:05Yeah.
08:06Cooper, we've gotten some really good impressions from Jordan Davis
08:10and Reed Blankenship of your defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio.
08:13I don't got any impressions.
08:16I don't got any impressions.
08:17If I had to do an impression, he'd just be standing here like this.
08:23Straight face, no smiles, ever.
08:26Sits there like this the whole time.
08:30How about the grunt?
08:31I heard Reed said he goes,
08:32when it's a bad play.
08:35Yeah, whenever he gets upset, he just makes that little like annoying,
08:42like he's annoyed type grunt.
08:44Whenever he gets upset, there's a bad play.
08:47Who does the best impression?
08:48Is it Jordan Davis?
08:49It probably is, yeah.
08:51I think he can do a good impression about anybody.
08:54Fun in play.
08:55To you, what's been like the biggest factor to go from where you were
08:58as a pass team that's team number one?
08:59Yeah, last year was tough last year.
09:05But it puts in perspective how you can make some changes here and there,
09:10believe in one another, and the sky's the limit.
09:14And I'm so happy.
09:15I was a little teary-eyed after the championship game.
09:18I'm like, man, we've come so far.
09:20From last year to this year, it's a complete 360.
09:23And I couldn't be blessed enough, you know.
09:27Good to see you.
09:28Hey, Reed.
09:29We've gotten some good impressions.
09:36Offensive lineman for Jeff Stoutland.
09:38Incredible.
09:39Lane Johnson, Jordan, my life.
09:40So, can you give me your Vic Fangio impression?
09:43Jordan Davis just crushed it.
09:45I know.
09:45JD's so good at it.
09:47Oh, my gosh.
09:48I don't know.
09:48He'll always like, ugh, ugh.
09:51He always grumbles or grunts.
09:53Like, when somebody, like, messes up, ugh, it's a bad play.
09:56It's a bad play.
09:57It's a bad player.
09:59But, no, JD does it the best, man.
10:02Like, every time we're in the meeting room,
10:04he's always back there repeating something.
10:06Like, always.
10:06JD's always saying something.
10:08Do you guys repeat the grunts at all?
10:10Yeah, the, ugh, ugh.
10:12He loves it.
10:13Like, he loves hearing, like, us repeat that.
10:16I don't know why.
10:17All right, now, Jordan Davis showed us the Vic Fangio fist bump.
10:21Have you seen it?
10:23Apparently, he comes in elbows like this, coming down like that.
10:27Is that true?
10:28I never noticed that, but he's so, oh, my gosh.
10:31Yeah, he was, like, twisting that thing.
10:33I don't know.
10:33I'm twisting it.
10:34Like, yeah.
10:34Elbows coming down like.
10:35It's like that.
10:36Like a chicken wing or something.
10:37I don't know.
10:38That's hilarious, man.
10:39JD knows that.
10:40I don't know.
10:41I want to see this video.
10:42I want to see JD, like, do it.
10:44He was pretty impressive.
10:46I don't know.
10:46He was very impressive.
10:47He's like, I don't know if I should break it out right now.
10:50Because I've been working on it all year.
10:51That's hilarious, man.
10:52He's so funny.
10:53JD is so funny.
10:54Is there anybody else that I could go get who does a great big Fangio impression?
10:58Working on it?
11:00I don't know.
11:01You can go to CD.
11:02CD might give you one.
11:03CD might give you one.
11:05That'll be funny.
11:05I want to see CD do something like that.
11:07I'll do that.
11:07I'll do it.
11:08Do that as well.
11:10Appreciate it.
11:13I just wish we had won a few more games.
11:15You know, even that last game against the Chiefs, you know, we were up one, had the ball in the red zone,
11:27with about six minutes to go, if I remember right.
11:32I'm answering a question here, okay?
11:36And we're driving.
11:37It looks like we're going to score.
11:39And I already told everybody, we're going to go for two and try and make this a nine-point game.
11:43Right.
11:44And, you know, two plays later, we bust the block in the assignment, fumble, and they run it back.
11:52And, you know, kind of.
11:54The Chiefs have done that to a lot of people, though.
11:57Yeah.
11:58Yeah.
11:59They're good.
12:00They have good players.
12:01They're well coached.
12:06What's that?
12:11Yeah, I mean, they've both done very well.
12:13I mean, Quignan, from the start, you know, Coop had to overcome injuries.
12:19So, he didn't start playing full-time until game five.
12:23But, they've both been great right from the get-go.
12:26A lot of what?
12:29A lot of questions about a lot of different guys in this defense.
12:32Josh Swett doesn't get mentioned that a lot.
12:34Where would you describe his importance?
12:37Yeah, he's kind of a steady rock, yet can make some very important plays.
12:44And I really like the way he approaches his job, approaches how he plays the game.
12:50He's tough.
12:51He's physical.
12:51So, you know, it's a good mix of guys, and you need some guys like that.
12:55Coach, if there was one thing.
12:56I know that's not your concern, but are you ever serious to see what a guy's going to get
13:02after he's seen?
13:03No.
13:05I mean, that will take care of itself.
13:08Coach, if there's one thing you want your defense to focus on Sunday against the Chiefs,
13:11what would be the number one thing?
13:13There's a lot, but we've got to have a good tackling game.
13:16You know, these guys run well after the catch.
13:18Obviously, Mahomes is elusive.
13:20Pacheco runs extremely hard.
13:23You know, tackling is going to be paramount.
13:25And I think since I've been standing here, you've been asked about Queen Onion Cooper four times
13:28to experience this as rookies.
13:30Is there anything you'd tell them about Xokin in this moment?
13:33Well, I'd tell them they're not rookies anymore.
13:35You know, they've played a lot of games.
13:36This is game 21 for us, not counting preseason.
13:40And so their rookie is gone.
13:44They've matured.
13:45They've experienced success.
13:47Had some negative plays.
13:49They're ready for this.
13:50Do you feel like this defense is peaking at the right time?
13:53Is there a certain week where you felt like you were where you wanted to be in this defensive scheme?
13:59Yeah, I mean, we just kept getting better.
14:02And, you know, and then we had to overcome the Kobe's injury, BG's injury.
14:07You know, we'll be ready.
14:11And Brandon Graham, are you shocked he's back and even questionable to play this game at this point?
14:16Yeah, I am.
14:16But he might post.
14:19We'll see.
14:19For you, do you have ambition for the offensive coordinator or a coach or just it's okay for the offensive line coach?
14:28Say it again.
14:29Do you have ambition for the offensive coordinator or elevate your career?
14:35Yeah, I don't worry about any of those things.
14:37I, at a young age, when I first started coaching, I had someone very dear to me that always said to me,
14:45do not worry about your next job.
14:47Do the very, very best at the job you're at.
14:50And the rest of it takes care of itself.
14:51So that's the way I go about my world, my life.
14:56It's the last one for me.
14:58You explained the culture of Philadelphia.
15:00He goes to appearance in the Super Bowl two times in three years.
15:03What's the culture to explain the success?
15:07Just having a, well, number one, we have good players.
15:11Howie Roseman and his staff do a great job with the draft, bringing in really good players.
15:15But then there's a whole process to that, and it starts with the head coach.
15:21And then each position coach has to have a formula as to how they're going to go about training these players.
15:32It all starts in OTAs, and it goes on for a very long time.
15:36So I am extremely happy for these players because they have worked so hard for such a long period of time.
15:43And we preach to them all the time that you will reap the benefits if you stay focused and lock in and work hard.
15:52And I don't know, sometimes that's hard to hear over and over, but here they are.
15:58When did you know that the Kai back didn't play guard?
16:03How did you know?
16:05Well, I didn't never, I'm not going to lie to you.
16:07I never knew that a 6-7, if you go back and look through the history books of a 6-7 guard production, you're not going to find too many.
16:18And it was during OTAs where Nick said to me, Coach Sirianni said to me, let's just try him out for a couple practices.
16:27Let's just see how he does.
16:28And I was like, cool, let's go.
16:29And I guess it was then that I saw the fluidity in his movement.
16:36One thing about Makai, it's like anything in life.
16:41It's like, for me, I didn't coach offense.
16:45I didn't coach offensive line.
16:46I was a linebacker coach.
16:47I wanted nothing to do with the offense.
16:49And when I was asked to change and move in 1986, I was not.
16:56But then after a minute, I was like, you know what?
16:58They want me to do that or they need me to do that.
17:01I'm going to do that.
17:02I'll change my life.
17:05That's the way Makai was when I asked him.
17:08I said, are you willing and do you want to give this a shot, a couple practices?
17:14He goes, sure.
17:15You mean I can get a chance to play guard?
17:17I said, yeah.
17:20I was thinking he was going to lash out and get angry with me and be, he was all in.
17:25So it's a credit to him and his growth mindset to want to give this a chance and a shot.
17:31And it all worked out.
17:34Hey, Jeff, we've gotten some really great impressions of you from Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, and Cam Juergens.
17:40Have they ever done the impression of you with you there?
17:44No.
17:45No?
17:45No.
17:46So maybe I'll get to see him one day.
17:48You'll see him.
17:48I've had a lot of things in my career with the players that I've coached between shirts with the top 10, stoutisms, and to these kind of things.
18:00But I really haven't, maybe I have heard a couple down the hallway, a couple guys yelling some things that I say.
18:07But it's all good.
18:09Trust me.
18:10They love you.
18:10Yeah, well.
18:11Cam Juergens.
18:12I love them, too.
18:12A little office chair.
18:13A cactus, maybe?
18:17I had a lot of important questions, but the shades are throwing me off.
18:20What's with the shades?
18:21Some lady was giving them out, so I put them on.
18:25Fair enough.
18:26We were just talking how this is a very overwhelming process, but I've got to imagine for the young guys.
18:31I was just talking to Daylon Carter.
18:32He did not know what to expect.
18:33You've done something like this before.
18:35What do you tell them?
18:35Yeah, I mean, you've just kind of got to go in knowing that it's part of the job, the job description, to be here for the Super Bowl.
18:43This is a business trip for us, first and foremost, so it's kind of just an obligation to the job, right?
18:50So we're here, you know, check this off, and then move on to tomorrow and get back to practicing.
18:55I was just talking to Nolan Smith, who's a lot of media around him right now.
18:58He was saying what a great workout you guys had.
19:00I've got to mention, when you have something like this for so many people around you, when it's back to just the team, it's got to be that much sweeter.
19:08Yeah, I mean, it's kind of relaxing to be able to go back to the facility and just be around our guys.
19:16This week's filled with a ton of distractions for guys, and I think that the team has a very good mindset of block out those distractions.
19:25We came here to play in a game, so that's what we're here to do.
19:27It is hard to imagine that there is actually a game still to be played.
19:30I was talking to Jordan Mailata before you guys left.
19:32You said about 50% of the game plan is implemented.
19:35Right now you guys are taking your time, not putting too much on your plate.
19:38Where do you feel like you are right now with that?
19:40Yeah, I mean, I feel like we're getting close to having almost all of it in.
19:45You know, the big thing is really going over everything with a fine-toothed comb, right?
19:49You have two weeks in order to prepare for this game, making sure that you leave no page unturned when it comes to, you know, game plan, studying, film, looking over everything.
19:59And, you know, instead of just trying to pile on everything, right, we have a little more time to go through, talk things over, you know, ask some questions, get things figured out,
20:07be able to, you know, do stuff in practice and walk-throughs and, you know, really make sure we have the details figured out because, you know, at the end of the day, it's the inches that win the game.
20:17As you go through this game plan, if there's one thing you want this offense to focus on on Sunday, what would it be?
20:22Just executing our job, right?
20:26Whatever your job is, right, there's 11 guys out there.
20:30You know, don't overthink it.
20:32Don't do too much.
20:34You know, at the end of the day, this is something we've done, you know, 18 times during the regular or 17 times during the regular season and whatever, three times in the postseason.
20:43It's another football game.
20:44It's a little different stage, different opponent, but same thing we've been doing.
20:48What's the weirdest question you've gotten asked tonight?
20:50Uh, tonight, hadn't been anything weird.
20:54No?
20:54So.
20:54I feel like people are walking around with really random things going on.
20:57Have you seen that Nickelodeon kid yet?
20:59No.
20:59He was scary.
21:01No, Arizona had some, a lot of weird questions, a lot of conspiracy theories.
21:07Because you're hiding in your corner here, this is brilliant.
21:09Yeah, this is great.
21:09I love it here.
21:10And, you know, it's great to come over if people want to do interviews.
21:13It's a lot of standing out here to give people a break on the legs.
21:16I never want to leave.
21:17Yeah, this turf can be a little rough on the joints sometimes.
21:20So, it's just a nice, you know, I'm trying to take care of, you know, all the media people out here.
21:24Very kind of you.
21:25Thank you for giving us this.
21:26Absolutely.
21:27How special is it to be a part of this season that Saquon Barkley is having?
21:32And he credits you for helping him in a lot of areas, but in the historical sense of the NFL,
21:38and to be able to finish it off possibly the right way in the Super Bowl.
21:41Yeah, and that's kind of the mindset we have.
21:43It's the mindset he has is that we're here to win a football game.
21:46And there's going to be a time where after that game, hopefully when we win,
21:50that we're going to reflect on every little detail.
21:53But I think you'd ask him.
21:54He'll trade all of those accolades for a win.
21:57And I'm right there with him.
21:58So, we want to do that.
22:00We want to take care of our business.
22:01We want to go out and play as best as we possibly can.
22:03And then, no doubt, I will reflect on something that was unbelievable this year
22:07and may only get better with this game.
22:09Perfect.
