00:00Hi, I'm Nat, I work at Mama Peas.
00:02Hi, I'm Stacey and I'm a cook at Mama Peas.
00:06Hi, I'm Emily and I'm a director at Mama Peas.
00:10Hi, I'm Debs, I'm a director and owner of Mama Peas at Fratton Community Centre.
00:18Mama Peas is after my mum up there.
00:24My mum was a feeder, she was the heart of the family.
00:30And she knew that one of my dreams was to be able to have my own cafe like this.
00:39Unfortunately, she passed away.
00:42But because she's the heart of the family, she's a feeder, we've called it Mama Peas.
00:49Everybody called her Mama Peas.
00:51Friends, family, much-loved lady.
00:55It's been absolutely amazing.
00:57We have just met so many people who were glad to call friends.
01:04We get to see them on a regular basis.
01:07They absolutely love the food.
01:11They love our cookie dough pies.
01:15And it's just an absolute joy to be here every day to see our regular customers.
01:22And also, we see a lot of new faces as well, which is just absolutely amazing.
01:26We have a lot of doings with the community centre as well.
01:29So it's a real family feel, a real community spirit feel.
01:33We put on a lot of different activities in the cafe and we get a lot of customers from the community centre.
01:40We have a lot of people from Pathway Support who are a company who work with adults with learning disabilities.
01:45And they love the centre.
01:47They get really involved within the cafe as well, which is really lovely.
01:51Yeah, this is their safe place, isn't it?
01:53It's an absolute amazing environment in here.
01:56It really is.
01:57And people just love the feel of the place.
02:00So, you know, when they come in, which is just amazing.
02:03And that's what we want.
02:03You don't really expect it, do you?
02:05Yeah.
02:05No, it's hidden in such a way.
02:07But we have Halloween parties, we have psychic tea evenings.
02:11So we try and include everybody within the community that there might be something here for them to enjoy.
02:17So it's opening us up to show people that we are here and we are very versatile to what we offer.
02:24Our waffles and cookie dough pies, let's go with that.
02:27That's our new venture and that is going really, really well.
02:30We're getting quite a name for ourselves for our cookie dough pies.
02:33Deb is a fantastic baker when it comes to those, creating new ingredients, creating new flavours.
02:40And we are on Just Eats now as well, as if you want a sweet treat of an evening.
02:44And Deliveroo.
02:45And Deliveroo.
02:46So there's lots of opportunity.
02:48So if you can't make it in, we can get it delivered to you.
02:51But obviously we want to see people's faces in the cafe.
02:53So it is nicer if people come in.
02:55But yeah, so the waffles are incredible, crepes.
02:58And we are actually the only small business locally that are offering that service.
03:03Apart from the big brand ones, we are the only local independent company selling that.
03:08We are giving out cupcakes with every purchase today and tomorrow.
03:12So that's running for two days.
03:15And at the end of next week, we've got a big high tea, a sidekick high tea.
03:19And that's our way of celebrating our first anniversary as well with our sidekick high tea.
03:24We're going to get bigger.
03:27We're going to get better.
03:29There's going to be more flavours of cookie day pies.
03:34And crepes and waffles.
03:36I think the sky's the limit really, isn't it?
03:37Absolutely.
03:38Yeah, absolutely.
03:39The sky's the limit.
03:41We're looking for, we've got so many plans as well.
03:44But it's just implementing them.
03:46You know, you can only do so much at a time.
03:49But we will, you know, we will get there.
03:53Absolutely, we will.
03:54You say the cookie day pies is your signature going forward?
03:57Absolutely.
03:58Yeah, I agree.
03:59Definitely.
04:00You're definitely going by the feedback and the demand.
04:04I just can't make them quick enough.
04:05I really cannot make them quick enough.
