00:00This is the country's most advanced air ambulance of its kind and it's right here in the North East.
00:06Scotland's charity air ambulance revealed the new Airbus H145D3 in a move which is
00:12hailed to be a game changer. The more advanced helicopter includes greater fuel capacity for
00:17longer flights and extra space for patient stabilization. It also includes night vision
00:23imaging systems which will ensure that the most complex and traumatic incidents can be attended
00:28across Scotland. When we're responding to medical emergencies across the highlands and islands of
00:32Scotland at the moment because of the size and the fuel carrying capacity of the aircraft often
00:37we'll have to refuel maybe on the way back with the patient to a major trauma centre. This new
00:42helicopter because it's much more powerful it can carry more fuel means that when we've got the
00:46patient we can go straight back to a major trauma centre so we're saving time in getting the patient
00:51to definitive care which is it's going to lead to improved outcomes for those patients. Already it
00:55feels so much more comfortable compared to our current helicopter the EC135. In our current one
01:00my head would be touching the roof already and we wouldn't have the space around to reach our
01:05patient very well. The bottom half of our patient is inaccessible to us in our current helicopter so we
01:09can only actually reach the top end of them and there's generally so much KISS on the aircraft as
01:14well that it's really really cramped compared to the big open helicopter we have here. Scotland's charity
01:20air ambulance continue to appeal to the public for funding in order to ensure the continuation of
01:26these life-saving aircrafts.
