Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un held their first direct talks in six years after a massive military parade in Beijing marking 80 years since the end of World War II.

According to Chinese state media, the two sides discussed strengthening strategic cooperation in regional and global matters, including supporting Beijing's position on Taiwan, which China claims as its territory.
