00:00President Trump is ordering to stop making pennies.
00:02He says it costs two cents to make every one cent.
00:05It takes three cents now to make your average penny.
00:07The U.S. lost about 20 million dollars making pennies.
00:10Because think about it, it's not just that we're spending those three cents.
00:12What do you do with a penny when you get it?
00:14You take it home, you stick it in your piggy bank, you put it in a jar.
00:17It's not like you're recirculating it.
00:18So then when grocery stores run out of pennies to give you, what do they do?
00:21They ask the mint for more pennies and we're continually making these three-cent pieces.
00:25What most people don't know is that it takes over 12 cents to make a nickel.
00:29At 10 cents, when you make a dime, it costs less to make the dime than the dime is worth.
00:33Same with a quarter.
00:34So anything below that, we just got to get rid of it.
00:36I don't think there's anybody out there who wants to save the penny.
00:40Canada did it a long time ago.
00:42They're just fine.
00:43We got to get rid of the penny as well and the nickel while we're at it.
00:46Because the nickel costs 12.3 cents to make.
00:49So why are we spending 12.3 cents to make 5 cents?
00:54That doesn't make any sense.
