00:00This is Pinpool Effects VR by the developer Zen Studios and it was released on the 3rd of April
00:282025. About the game. Enter your own arcade full of pinball machines. Full on 80s influence. The
00:35carpets, the wallpaper, posters, cassette tapes, so many rooms dripping in 80s nostalgia. Each table
00:42offering modes classic play, arcade and practice and each table having its own animations besides
00:48the table. Then there are also challenges. Ball, time, distance, flip, survival, score fading,
00:54multi-ball and speed. Each table also has leaderboards for your score. Local, friends, weekly
01:00and all time. With 30 trophies to collect, start playing and start filling in that trophy cabinet.
01:07Levels and size. Now the game actually only comes with 3 pinball tables which are the Pinball
01:12Noir, Curse of the Mummy and Sky Pirates Treasures of the Clouds. But you can purchase other tables
01:18and packs such as Star Trek The Next Generation, The Addams Family, The Twilight Zone, The World
01:24Cup, Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, the TV Classics pack which includes Knight Rider, Battlestar
01:30Galactica and Xena the Warrior Princess. Then this pinball packs volumes 1, 2, 3 and 9. And
01:37I did actually buy volume pack 1. So there are plenty of tables to play. And if you are looking
01:41for 100% completion then I actually can't even imagine how many hours, days, possibly weeks
01:49worth of gameplay you will get from each table. Leveling up options. On each table you have a
01:54table progress page which has 3 table achievements, 5 table masteries and each one goes up in levels
02:01and then 2 active and 6 passive power-ups that also have levels to them. Every time you play
02:07the table you progress a little more. Power-ups can only be used in the arcade mode and the challenges.
02:12Customisation options. So for each table or pack of tables there is a campaign. Complete challenges
02:19and earn up to 3 stars. The more stars you earn the more challenges to unlock. There are 66 stars to
02:25collect and 60 tickets. Now with the tickets that you get rewarded with, depending on how many stars
02:30you earned in your challenge, you can then use these tickets to spin a giant wheel for prizes. One ticket
02:36equals one spin. And then you can win items to customise your arcade such as posters, wallpaper,
02:42carpets, gadgets, statues and cassette tapes that you can actually play in a cassette player. You can
02:46also win items to customise your tables such as pinball skins, the ball trails and the flippers.
02:52And then you can win different arms for your character, though you can only see your arms and
02:57hands in the game. Each room and every table can be decorated to how you want it. Mechanics. I'm certainly
03:03no pinball expert so I'm not sure how this compares to playing an actual pinball machine. But in VR it
03:08looks and feels fantastic. The tables are great, the animations besides the tables are great, the arcade
03:14is great. I had no major issues nor did I come across any bugs. The only complaint I really have
03:20is the throwing of the darts is a little hard. Yes there's a dartboard that you can also play.
03:25Controls. Controls are easy. Left flippers are left trigger, right flippers are right trigger. Then you
03:31might get a game to play within the table but that won't be anything complicated either. And then to
03:36nudge the table you push the joystick up or down. Mixed reality. There is a mixed reality mode where
03:42you can place your trophies anywhere in your room and then place a pinball table and then add a door
03:47for your storage room. Game menus. There is a way to access everything from the palm of your left hand
03:53offering settings, map, inventory and mixed reality on or off. Settings offer audio with volume sliders for
04:00master, sound effects, physics, music and voice over. Then the movement menu offers smooth movement,
04:06direction control, turn speed, tunnel intensity, teleport on or off and the turn amount. The
04:12accessibility menu offers seated or standing and then controls to fine-tune your height, distance and
04:18tilt. Then in-game menu offers on or off for your score display, achievement stars, power display,
04:23ball trails, notifications and animations. Then there's main hand selection, grip toggle,
04:29language, haptics and hints. My thoughts. I own quite a few pinball games in VR and without doubt
04:36this is the best of them all. Not only do all the tables look and play amazing but there is so much
04:41to do, so many things to unlock and collect, lots of trophies and I'm not kidding when I say each table
04:47is going to give you days and days of playing time, even maybe weeks. The only thing that makes me hum
04:53and ah is the price of the DLCs. On one hand I think they are totally worth it for the amount of
04:58time you will get from them but then on the other hand I think that a DLC should not cost more than
05:03the game itself. They should at least be half the price of the game but this is going to come down to
05:08each person really. If you absolutely love pinball then without a doubt you will pay for it but if you are
05:13just a casual player I don't think you will bother with the DLCs unless they hit a 50% or more sale.
05:19Anyway, I found this a great game to play whilst just sitting up on my bed chilling and I was
05:24grinding away for hours in my own little 80s man cave. Now please do me the honour of hitting that
05:30like button under this video if you enjoyed yourself for the last few minutes and I will
05:34see you in the next one. Thanks guys and happy gaming.
