00:00There have been a lot of construction projects in Sheffield in recent years, the latest being
00:04these pedestrianisation works on Pinston Street, which has led to the unearthing of these historic
00:08tram tracks you see here, which used to criss-cross the entire city.
00:11Now these tracks, which are pictured here in Pinston Street in the 1950s, have been
00:16buried for 85 years, and since they were decommissioned in 1960, where they were originally built
00:21in 1873.
00:22So a similar set of these were uncovered during the Fargate renovations, which led to some
00:26residents asking how they could be preserved as a part of Sheffield's history.
00:29However, these ones you see here in Pinston Street have already been pulled up and cut
00:33apart.
00:34Previously, during the Fargate discovery, Shepherd City Council said they would be looking into
00:37any way they could preserve the tracks.
00:39But in the meantime, with more projects to come across over Sheffield, it's sort of a wonder
00:43what will be dug up next.
